John Henry "Bonzo = The Beast" Bonham could go from the most subtle, softest, drum rolls to the most thunderous, avalanche of sound from sticks to his bare hands (yes he really did!). He had awesome unforced power, and a bass drum foot like castanets! That's what Jimmy Hendrix said about Bonham's fast foot! Cheers!
Actually, this is blues rock. ;) Glad that you enjoyed it. It's one of my favorites. Led Zeppelin were amazingly versatile and creative. We never knew what to expect from them. Every song is a real journey.
The drummer, John Bonham, is absolutely murdering the drums in this song. Just a relentless avalanche on the skins. He's one of the best to ever pick up sticks, and songs like this are just the beginning.
I believe the best way to describe Led Zeppelin, generally, is that they are masters of re-interpreting the blues. Essentially, they gave the genre a turbo-charged facelift. And in doing so, they created an entirely new sound for the time. It launched, and influenced, the rock history that followed, even to this day.
We respect that you like them a lot, but not all music resonates with people the same. It's perfectly ok for people to not like certain types of music or certain band. Appreciate you watching.
Coach , and Mrs Coach, you' re about to enter the rabbit hole of the band that honored the past, and changed the future of Rock. Please start at the beginning albums, progress thru them all, and stay with the studio versions, cuz the Live stuff, doesn't capture the musicianship..of all four greats because of tech at that time, the tours, the drugs...but each studio album, is epic, ..enjoy the journey...
This is the last track on their very first album - recorded in September 1968 and released in the US in January 1969. Many of Led Zep's songs are arranged in "movements" sorta like classical music. The weird guitar psychedelic sound is the guitarist Jimmy Page, playing the guitar with a violin bow - which he does on several LZ songs. And a tour de force for John Bonham on drums. This is Zep's take on 2 blues songs Howlin Wolf's How Many More Years and Albert King's The Hunter. Thanks for the reaction - hope you'll do more. ☮
One of many many great Zeppelin songs. Thanks for the review. Led Zeppelin's first album. Check out Communication Breakdown. Another great song from the first album.
Thanks for doing my pick!… This was recorded in 1968 and you’re basically hearing the beginnings of what was known as hard rock… But it was born out of the black blues, followed by a desire by some of the young guitarists of the day, including Jimmy Page to create great riffs… I think what you mean by groove is the catchy riff. Mix in a couple of 20 year olds like Robert Plant and John Bonham with unbridled energy, the solid bass of John Paul Jones and you’ve got early Zeppelin!
Blues rock!! Yeah Zeppelin-fied!! They are magnificent!!! Jimmy plays the guitar with a violin bow in the eerie part of this! They are British but Robert has a one of a kind voice! This was 1969.
Released on their GOAT album LZ 1 with the burning Zepplin on the cover. Over 50 years old and STILL the best. Remember AM radio wouldn`t play it as they played songs less than 3 minutes. Also AM was MONO (sucks). I grew up in the bay are where the FM (stereo!) would play the album tracks. Went to concerts in 69-70 at Winterland (SF) then in `77 at Day on the Green Oakland ballpark. In concert was AWESOME, they never played the songs straight up like off the vinyl record. LOUD yet CLEAR with solos left and right. GOAT band I think.
Southern twang? As in West Bromwich in the United Kingdom. Brits all, all the way. But Robert is a master of the blues, US style. 1968 was the year of release by the way.
I was in school, minding my own business, when a friend asked me to come over to his place after school. I just got this Album that came out. You gotta hear it, he excitedly said. January 1969. I was 12. It changed my life forever.🤘Btw, one song will chill you, as in goosebumps "Kashmir" A masterpiece.
They were the biggest selling act in the seventies both album wise and concert wise nobody matched them bands would not play in the same city 3 weeks before Zeppelin and or 3 weeks after Zeppelin came and gone
It’s at least two songs. Howling Wolf’s How Many More Years and Albert King’s the Hunter, I believe. I guess you could call this blues rock. Jimmy Page uses a bow on his guitar in the quiet section. There’s a great live version of this too, from Denmark radio in 1969. Always expect the unexpected with Zeppelin. Also, check out Bron-Y-Aur Stomp by them. It has a bit of a blue grass feel to it.
I love watching peoples reaction when they react to Led Zeppelin for the very first time now you know what I went through when they first came out packing 6869.
The sound Jimmy gets with the cello bow with his 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard “Number One" is phenomenal. That has always been one of my favorite segments of any song they have.
Every song is different. There's different. John rose even in the one song that they're playing. You just got to start from the first album just go enjoy the journey
Great reaction. The live versions (filmed) at the Royal Albert Hall 1970 and Danmark TV 1969 are much better though. Zeppelin often improved on the studio versions when playing them live. This particular song is a prime example. It was done better live. Cheers. ✌️
That was a blast! Love the bass beat and drums, and the screaming guitar. To be honest, I would have been happy bopping my head along with them without the vocals to distract me! Had a quick google for the lyrics because I couldn't catch much, but it was so... disjointed, I still couldn't figure out what was going on. 🤣
Inside the band they referred to this song as psychedelic jazz. It's an elaboration on Albert King's "The Hunter" In classical music the different parts of the song are known as movements. I think they were definitely throwing aces all around on this jam and it's one of my top five favorite Zeppelin songs. Live they would stretch it out to about a half an hour and take it all over the place.
Hey guys, you probably get lots of requests for Zeppelin...and there's a good reason for that! but you must listen to "since I've been lovin you" for real heavy blues or "kashmir" for something completely different or "no quarter" for something chilled. Enjoying your reactions 👍
It gets better as you learn more about certain artists and the bands used are actually members of a very high tier of plug and play musicians which appear on many different albums playing an incredible variety of music. I use Tommy Aldridge (drummer) as an example.
Blues rock...if anything the slow section was psychedelia. This is why Zeppelin is so great...unique, versatile and they were always on point musically.
@@CoachCastTV Any point in requesting Zeppelin doing country?! Haha C’mon, give a go. It’s not country if it’s Led Zeppelin! Off their final studio album… Hot Dog! 😁
Loving your reactions to Sabbath and early Queen but it’s time to get some more Zeppelin please! You’ve only scratched the surface, please consider the original studio version of Whole Lotta Love, or the studio version of Black Dog… Not to mention that Zeppelin gets millions of views, so let them help you build your channel further lol!
I know coach is more into guitar but after watching this vid he got a soft spot for the drums....." Moby dick" live would blow your socks off no joke! Good work again guys love the content!
1st album came out in 1969. By the way, the second album came out in 69 as well and the third came out in 1970. The 4th in 1971. After that they slowed down a bit. LOL. Many of Zepps' older bluesier songs were Heavily inspired by old blues masters. Like John Lee Hooker, Howling Wolf and Muddy Waters. So much of the lyrics often were snippets from their songs. But they did change the music up a lot from the songs. And the phychodelic stuff was a thing many bands did back then. For the most part, Zeppelin moved away from that pretty quickly.
If you want Blues from Zepplin you must hear the live Madison square garden version if Since I've been loving you. If you really want some good blues the blues brothers or the blues Travelers even if you don't like the blues they will change your mind.
Psychedelic? No that is jazz Led Zeppelin is playing in the beginning of the song not psychedelic! This is a jazzy hard rock song! With some experimental playing with the signature violin bow on electric guitar playing buy Jimmy Page!
Dazed and Confused off of Zeppelin one will blow your mind.
This song ends that album
And this came out in the late sixties
John Henry "Bonzo = The Beast" Bonham could go from the most subtle, softest, drum rolls to the most thunderous, avalanche of sound from sticks to his bare hands (yes he really did!). He had awesome unforced power, and a bass drum foot like castanets! That's what Jimmy Hendrix said about Bonham's fast foot!
Cheers!
Musical art at its finest ❤
More Led Zeppelin please! You will NOT regret it 😁
The Goat!
One of the best debut albums ever
Actually, this is blues rock. ;)
Glad that you enjoyed it. It's one of my favorites. Led Zeppelin were amazingly versatile and creative. We never knew what to expect from them. Every song is a real journey.
We are certainly enjoying listening to them.
There's jazz in it too
@@Scoobydcs yeah not much jazz
youre telling me the start isnt jazzy? and the amount of raw improv? nah theres hints of jazz in zeppelin

Pure blues rock! Their debut album, 1969. Jimmy Page is incredible!
The singer and drummer were 20 years old when they did this album!!
Amazing!

Coach I don't think over ever seen you smile so much during a reaction. That's the magic of Zeppelin at work.
It was a great song, what can I say? LOL

They were 8ncredibly versatile and talented. The most talented band ever imo
Jimmie page plays the guitar with a Chello bow during the solo

That's right! 😆
Any song performed by Led Zeppelin was better than most bands best.
And just imagine, they had only been together for a few weeks before writing and recording this!
This song is an adaptation of the original song "How Many More Years" written in 1951 by Howlin Wolf

All Led Zeppelin songs have a sexual innuendo in them
They are a very Blues oriented band
If you listen to Robert Plant's voice it's very bluesy they were steeped in The Blues of the Mississippi Delta
Listen to the live version of Dazed and Confused it's almost 30 minutes long
They were the biggest selling act in the seventies both album wise and concert wise nobody matched them bands would not play in the same city 3 weeks before Zeppelin and or 3 weeks after Zeppelin came and gone
I believe they were really together for like three or four weeks before the first album came out
Impressive.
6:48 jimmy get the bow out and plays electric guitar with a cello bow!!
Blues all the way!!
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band..
I've been with these guys since the beginning first time. I saw these dudes Was I to Fillmore East N.Y Best band ever❤❤

Very interesting info there, especially about the bow. We appreciate you watching!
It just pure genius.

Dear, Robert Plant, and Allison Krause have made several duet albums! If you like country, Allison is one of the best! And so is Robert!
Robert Plant called it psychedelic jazz. When performing it live. Last song on Zeppelin one what a way to close a album.
Good description! 👍
With a song like this, and all its free-form, the drummer better be good. This Cat was good.....goddamn. Swing, groove and musicality.

Timeline. The Yardbirds. The New Yardbirds. Led Zepplin. This is a track from “Led Zepplin”, their 1st Lp recorded 1968, released January 1969.
These boys are all from England so that's why Roberts accent sounds strange 😊

Yeah Robert Plant is from Southern England
No, not south of England, was born in the Midlands of England. West BROMWICH, just north of Brum (BIRMINGHAM).
yeah I know where he's from I was just making a comment since she said he had a southern draw
Sweetheart that's blues rock for you play psychedelic hits blues rock they're heavily inspired by the Blues

We actually just did that one from Madison Square Garden and RUclips blocked it, so it's on our Patreon.
My Dear, the southern accent is derived from the early English settlers to the new world! Research it!
It was recorded in1968 when things were still groovy and psychedelic.
Yeah that's back when they made good music
You guys should check out the progressive rock genre. Your minds are going to be blown away.
