I know Minecraft has biomes like the Deep Dark and the Mushroom Fields, but I feel like the Autumnal Taiga also just doesn't make sense considering that the Spruce Trees are evergreens, and thus would stay green all year round.
Yeah it is kind of odd they decided to keep oaks mostly green but make orange and yellow spruces. It just doesn't make any sense! It is just so weird! Like who does that?!
I feel like the fragmented forest should have gone atleast A because of the high peaks would be à delightful place to build à house. It reminds me of thag Mario world (i tihnk its the 7th). But hej, thats just my opinion
@@InfernalStudiosMC not the original comment writer but personally I disagreed with your opinions on the textures. You said a lot of them were too noisy or didn't work well when I actually prefer them over BOP's. Despite that, I agree with the original commenter, still a great video.
I kinda like the the generation of this mod, but the textures bring it down, and the biggest problems are the new village and villager type with... questionable trade, and the new armor that just don't fit in it
I do believe the Howling peaks are a direct resemblance of the howling peaks biome from Minecraft Dungeons, as they share a very similar look, although slightly less red ground.
I actually like cardial tundra a lot. It is simple and unique, it doesn't have any over-the-top garish leaf textures/noisy plant generation, and it feels refreshing after looking at the same oversaturated pee yellow trees for the last twenty entries. Plain biomes like it break up the more 'impressive' ones, and honestly it doesn't need towering trees or colorful flowers. I would build a base there.
@@InfernalStudiosMCTundras are barren but they could have added at least something Like occasional bush for some wood and maybe some passive animals, like special cow skin
My biggest issues with BYG are that 1. There's too many damn forests. 2. Their colorful leaf textures are too garish. 3. It doesnt have a simple config that lets you disable the biomes you dont want If they worked on their textures and let me junk half the biomes at will like BOP it'd be just as good as bop

The End biomes are pretty neat, the only issue being that there's no mobs to complement the biomes (it's all enderman).
I played on a Fabric 1.19 modpack with this mod and I had about the same opinions as you; it's good biomes are peak, but there's a lot of rough around the edges textures and some really weird design choices littered about. Luckily my group's spawn was a Skyris Vale right next to a Coconino Meadow, both very solid biomes from this mod. "But why isn't it the most popular" because it came out over a decade later :p
While I used to be a big fan years back, I generally I dislike BoP due to how same-y all the biomes are; some may look pretty and have cool themes, but overall the mod is mid at best, it has not withstood the test of time, and while it maybe fits in 1.7.10 packs, the modding ecosystem has changed, and BoP has not adapted
Mods such as "Oh The Biomes You'll Go"'s sequel "Oh The Biomes We've Gone", "Regions Unexplored", "Terralith"--and probably a few i've missed--offer much more unique and interesting expericnes
Obviously these mods I mentioned have it's pits and downfalls, but on average I consider them significantly more fitting and higher quality than older biome mods like BoP and Natura
While many parts of BoP do *seem* to be better than the alternatives, the mod has grown stagnant
Contrast that with BYG's bold attempts at novelty, which while they often doesn't succeed, it feels so much more refreshing when compared to a decade of having the same biomes, same formula, and same textures (with exceptions of course.. please look at the difference between 1.7.10 visceral heap and 1.20 visceral heap lol)
Additionally, I think "feature bloat" is a disgustingly unfair verdict for BYG, consider BoP suffers from the same, if not worse
The textures being all over the place is generally better, BoP has always suffered from "300 types of wood that all look the same except slightly differently colored", I much prefer the weird looking stones than seeing a recolored oak log 17 times in a row, not to say BYG isn't guilty of this too, but the blocks generally feel more "alive" and natural
Overall much of these ratings seem much more strict compared to the BoP ones, and I don't think you've done a fair comparison between these two
While BYG is far from my favourite (It's sequel, BWG does a much better job at most of.. everything, really), I do still think it's equal, if not better than BoP, purely due to the uniqueness of it when compared to BoP's uniform nature
Still, enjoyed watching the video and I'm excited for the next one, I'm enjoying this format
