Something I think is missing in the maker space is a store that can provide on-demand hardware kits that can be defined by creators. For example, if someone designs a 3d printer, they can upload the stls on printables and the BOM on your site, then anyone can just go and order the kit. If your setup is flexible enough to keep the overhead down, I think that would be a very valuable service. Especially for things without enough traction to get the main shops to store your kit in inventory.
Thanks for offering multiple options, and being cost conscious! It's been fun to watch your journey through this project, and in my opinion the prices are pretty fair.
Bro, im a german "selfemploye" and you SOLVED a big problem of these "Sort Sets" whit that thype of outomatet ordering. I imagine many companys interest in that system, like landefeld Balluff Würt. Ofc for Big Bussiness they offer Vending Machines, but your system will close the link to the "smaller buisnesses" and "privat people" having a good arrangment of parts to maintain machinery, Pneumatik, Hydraulik and automation equipment. KEEP ON MAN, may work on software for accounts and ordering and make that a banger!
You....have a bright future ahead. I'm going to buy them, 140€ total (excluding box)is a bargain for a sorted set. (A note on your website, it's not clear that this is a -Special parts *only* (excl. Box) -Standard screws *only* (excl. Box) -All parts and box It looks a bit like: -special parts & screws (excl. Box) -Screws only -all parts and box I would also like a -All parts excluding box Buying option
Saying you’ve built the world’s largest screw sorting machine whilst standing next to a horse in a stable is such a flex move. Well done, incredible job.
That kit does have a lot of cool things. Some things I might want to add though: Countersunk bolts (Making alignment easy), short partially threaded bolts (making adding a bearing here or there easier).
Congratulations on the launch! It's been a treat watching you build up to this moment and very cool to see the sorting system put into production. Your story is most inspirational.
I just wanted to say congratulations, this is awesome, and I look forward to this being available for shipment to the United States so I can buy one. What you have accomplished is really remarkable and brings a lot of value to other small businesses and hobbyists.
I did a similar assortment setup with some 3d printed trays in surplus radioshack parts bins. If you don't have your own parts assortment already, I HIGHLY recommend it. Obviously my solution won't work for most, but this is a pretty awesome way to start instead! I love where you're going with this, and look forward to seeing it proceed!
Who knew there was still an edge in small parts and screws. Your videos have been amazing!! I maintain a selection like this. It would be nice to get it all in one place and support an awesome creator at the same time.
Could you provide some details about the screws used? Specifically, I'd like to know the hardness (8.8?) and the type (are they stainless steel?). Thanks!
Judging from the colours of the parts between 1:16 - 1:36 I'd say the nuts and bolts are galvanised steel, the pins and balls are stainless, the tooth pulleys are probably aluminium (maybe stainless?), and the drill bushings should be some kind of hardened steel.
apologies for the smart-ass comment but you probably mean (tensile) strength, not hardness. the ones shown in the video are galvanized steel (not stainless) and I´m pretty sure its the standard 8.8 flavor. ...which would make sense because this set is all about providing you with all the basic/standard parts to build things. not some exotic stuff you might need for special applications.
Awesome box assortment I am directly ordering one for myself I am following you since the second video and I am amazed every time by your high quality and interesting videos.
I'm lucky as hell to have a store dedicated to fasteners and fastening technology literally 300m away. They got all sizes of screw, bolt, washer etc. from tiny (not electronic) to huge sold by piece or by weight, along with bits, tools, glues, ropes, corner brackets etc. I'm pretty sure a lot of people overpay for stuff like that buying it in packs or at big box stores.
What an engineer, what a company! You guys are awesome. We feel bad you must go on camera to get an audience but then speaking directly to the market /end user and customer has been a revolution in past few decades in nascebt tech spaces lol
Great project can't wait to get a kit. Also, I have kitchen trash bins made in Germany and they are priced = to their weight in gold. I retro fitted a bin using 3d printing for 62x less.
Holy crap you weren't kidding when you said the supplier thinks the box is made of gold or something. But let me tell you, if I could, after seeing all your work in achieving this I would 100% buy it with the box. Not only it looks awesome but the way it's easy just to order more stuff is awesome too.
I was shocked when I saw the price, you weren't kidding with the 4x price comparison. I realize if it's even on the table, shipping overseas is going to eat much of that savings but - is shipping to US possible at this time (or in the forseeable future)?
I know the prices are impressively fair! But can you maybe offer something at an even lower entry point? Like a basic basic starter set in a paper box similar to advent calendar (also a product I'd buy btw) or a try out set with 1 of each screw? It would allow everyone to convince him/herself of the quality of your service without overcommitting immediately. Also the Box might be expensive but looks absolutely awesome. If it would be possible to offer a basic basic set with a small Version of this Box (i.e. 4x3) < 45€ it would be ideal for People who want to promote / support your brand. I assume your product can be marketed via social media pretty well.
awesome!! I will not buy just yet, but the price is INSANELY competitive!! I would even argue that there's no way china can beat your prices, since you also are producing and sending from europe... Incredible!! We need more people like you around!!
Imho there is a giant market for a European equivalent to "McMaster Carr" where you can selectively order hardware (e.g. screws, bolts, nuts) in whatever quantity suits you. And with a intuitive website providing 3D step files. You already have the automated sorting machines which could "auto pick" any custom order removing the majority of the overhead cost of such a store.
This is amazing! I'd love to buy one if you ever offer shipping to the US. Just a quick heads-up-your website could be a bit clearer. Simplifying it and making your offerings more straightforward might help! Not trying to be critical, just offering some friendly feedback to help this product succeed because it should!
Have you considered Screw Sorting as a Service, so companies can just order bags with specific screw counts like you get from IKEA? Counting those manually is an absolute nightmare, and smaller DIY-focused businesses would pay a LOT of money to outsource that in quantities of a few dozen to a few hundred!
Christopher, have you considered designing you own box and have it mass produced? Then you could even sell it empty for people to make their own assortments of stuff too. You could do the features you want. Stackable, drawer style, accessories like a magnetic mat for the top lid to keep your parts sorted while (dis)assembling etc. I'm pretty sure the large components of a box can be stamped which is way cheaper than injection molding.
Agreed, I'm sure they are of good quality, but what I'd love to find is a source for absolutely top-quality components. Kits like these are everywhere, but you often don't know what you're going to get when you place your order. My interest is piqued though, for sure!
Coolest product I've seen of you yet! I really like that you added metric rods and other tools and STL's that people can print to make the kit more useful. Great thinking, doing and making! :)
Thanks, buying one right now. PS: The shop part of the website is in German, with no option to change the language. PS2: I'm sad I can't buy it, as I'm from Canada.
An an American viewer I’d like shipping options to the US. It would also be nice to have an option to get everything but the box. Great videos as always!
I think most of us that create products have screw kits like this already but in multiple tackle boxes, I have 6 tackle boxes with screws from 2mm to 5mm in diameter and from 4mm to 50mm in length, witth lots of other nuts and metal fixtures. It’s nice that you put it all together, but that case is too big and heavy. Im 60 with arthritis and it would be difficult for me to pull that off the wall like that. My small tackle box one are very heavy. I use a company called hex screws here in the USA for screws. Good luck, i think this would make a great Xmas gift for a creator. Larry
Wirklich beeindruckend! Und eigentlich sogar viel zu günstig, wenn man bedenkt, wie viel Aufwand in den Details steckt... Für das gleiche Produkt würden andere Anbieter im b2b Umfeld eine 0 dranhängen
This is fantastic and I love it, but these aren't all common Australian standards so aren't useful for my application. Do you mind sharing who is the box supplier so that I can make my own using Australia components? I love that you have scale pictures on the front and QR codes for re-ordering and spec info. I love your counting system and your entire engineering process. Keep up the amazing work!
Do you plan to offer custom parts kit bagging as a service? This would be really great for small to medium sized 3D print producers who need to offer parts kits for their products but who can't afford to spend the labor on manual parts counting. Even more, I could see this transforming into an on-demand parts kit drop shipping service, which would be an amazing complement to 3D print design suppliers. I would even consider the value of this service for my own projects where I know the number of parts (especially fasteners) ahead of time due to the design, but don't want to have to buy bulk just to get the quantities I need. Sure, I don't mind collecting random nuts and bolts, but sometimes I need an inconveniently large number of basic fasteners where the cost of smaller quantity units it too high but the quantity of the next largest bulk size is too large.
I think that's what he meant when he referred to the "kitting service" that is upcoming (there's a non-functional link in the website). I agree it would be very nice. I don't make big parts, so I'd never use M6/M8. Probably not even M5. I'd like M2,M3,M4. If the MPS can be linked to an online shipping service and automatically build up a kit, I can see this system being able to offer custom kits at a competitive price. Unlike the kits on Amazon, you'd get quality parts and exactly the ones you want.
Thats absolutely amazing and something I’ve been looking for. I spent many hours in the last couple of months trying to put something like this together for myself. First from the hardware store (complete fail) and then from the internet (time consuming). It is close to impossible to source all the parts from just one supplier if you’re a private person with a limited budget. So you end up ordering from many different shops and paying shipping every time. Even with just 10 pieces per size it is super expensive, so I did not order my self made full kit yet and keep buying screws incrementally as I need them. Just last week I spent an hour in a badly sorted hardware store to find 10 specific screws - such a waste of time. I think every maker that follows you will love and appreciate this product, for me it is absolutely perfect.
This is amazing, but unfortunately not yet usable for me. You have a lot of screws in there which I would never need, but I would need some of the special parts on the other hand. You should consider to make a build-me screw set, where I have, let's say, 32 free slots, and I can pick and place, which screw types I want where.
It’s a neat idea, but I think everyone uses a different variety of parts. I mainly use M3 screws with occasional M4s where I need strength, but someone working on mounting smaller PCBs might prefer M2.5 or M2. Countersunk vs socket-head. Different finishes for corrosion resistance or style. As a hobbyist, I find myself buying a large quantity of a smaller variety of hardware, and designing my models around those sizes. Usually it’s pretty doable to adjust the depth of a countersink or nut placement to account for an existing screw size. The heat-set threaded insert multipacks have the same issue where they have a dozen of each size, but I’d rather have a higher quantity of 4 different sizes instead of less each of 20 sizes.
I don't consider the price-point as 'luxury'. I saw it and thought "gridfinity!" But I think anyone whose made a setup like that knows that it's at least half that price in just filament alone. And the time it takes to print everything, woo! I could probably order this and have it in my home before i could print out all the bins. You're doing some pretty impressive work and I'd humbly suggest that you phrase it like you did with everything else you make: "Start here. This product will get you up and running and then you can Iterate your own needs as you discover and better understand your requirements."
And is in the same configuration even more expensive on the Auer Shop Online! Christopher asks 93,-€ more for the Auer-Box that costs 94,56€ (at the same configuration as offered here) in their shop! So, again, fair prices here!
Checked out your site and that's an excellent set! I didn't see heat-set inserts, however, which I consider essential for my projects. Over the years I've built my own hardware storage based on Akro-Mils bins and 3D printed inserts, but yours is definitely superior.
Parts should ideally be restocked before they run out completely. Maybe put the QR code on the side of the container, or somewhere where it will remain accessible.
I'm curious to know which manufacturer makes that box? I put together a kit of nuts and bolts myself for the same reason a while ago, although I spent a fortune doing so as you identified. I went for stainless throughout and included multiple types of bolt heads and nut types - I only did M3 and M4 though due to the cost! It made life so much easier having them all on hand.
FYI, the accept/deny-cookies message on the website was in german for some reason, but the rest of the website was in English (I'm on a Mac with English language)
Am I blind/def, or did you mention the quantity of each item included? A list for all types and dimensions would be a nice convenience. Great work! Great idea!
Great job! Can you check the website, the description doesn't change when you select the different options. Can you also add a switch to English button, Google translate works pretty well so not a deal

agreed, almost felt like being tricked... although i genuinely believe its unintentionally worded this way
I think a box only option would be good for down the track upgrading, or being able to fill as needed with what you actually use
As a bonus feature, all the parts will be shipped combined together in one large plastic bag. For your sorting pleasure. 🤡
Saying you’ve built the world’s largest screw sorting machine whilst standing next to a horse in a stable is such a flex move. Well done, incredible job.
The algorithm just sent me here. Looks like a sweet bit o’ kit and a well executed bit of automation.

Great, another video from you! I really like the reordering process via QR code, I'm looking forward to testing the box.
That was my only feedback - putting the barcode on the side or such as well - because many of us like to reorder BEFORE we run out.
Does the QR code only come with box?
Who knew there was still an edge in small parts and screws. Your videos have been amazing!! I maintain a selection like this. It would be nice to get it all in one place and support an awesome creator at the same time.

best of luck with this! You can easily make other variant with smaller screws M1.5 and standoff.
A great product! I would buy the full set right away if it was available in the US. Please let us know if that's an option in the future.
Gridfinity mentioned!
Nice, ordering the option without box now! Small note: the site is in German for me, and I don't see an option to switch to English. Cheers!
That's a cool niche that, for some reason, no one occupied yet. Yes, there are chinese screw sets, but those have very non-optimal selection.
Parts should ideally be restocked before they run out completely. Maybe put the QR code on the side of the container, or somewhere where it will remain accessible.
Maybe side AND bottom
@@paulworms1467 Yes, but this would be slightly more complicated. Custom injection moulded or 3d printed boxes can have this built in, anywhere.
QR codes seem to be both on the bottom of the bins as well as on the lid.
No, just double stack the bins. once the top is empty you order your refill und use the bottom bin until then 😉😉
What's the box brand ? it seems really cool to store many other things !
lol that is marketing on a next level... almost like selling air...
Great starting product. Description could be more extensive
Ich habe das Sortiment bestellt. Ich möchte dich unterstützen. Leistung zahlt sich aus.
FYI, the accept/deny-cookies message on the website was in german for some reason, but the rest of the website was in English (I'm on a Mac with English language)
Viel Erfolg, tolle Arbeit !
I hope shipping to the US will be possible soon, I need this set!
Am I blind/def, or did you mention the quantity of each item included?
A list for all types and dimensions would be a nice convenience.
Great work!
Great idea!
The "add to cart" and the yellow paypal-button is also in German instead of English
Kind of a mix of English and German, so you might need to look into that. Anyway, thanks for a good video and interesting product.
Good, but please add the iDEAL payment method for your Dutch customers
Great job! Can you check the website, the description doesn't change when you select the different options. Can you also add a switch to English button, Google translate works pretty well so not a deal
hey amazing deal for the bolt kit. are they stainless or galvanized?
Have you implemented any kind of check into the system yet? Like weighing the bags of screws before shipping them out?
Hammer, sowas habe ich schon lange gesucht 🎉
Shipping to US coming?
Really cool concept
Great product! Any chance you'll do shipping to the UK?
Wünsche dir viel Erfolg!
Is it cheaper than the Sonderpreis Baumarkt per KG prices?
wow great price
Is there a video covering how the controllers/electronics work? Using CAM/Modbus or ethercat or whatever ?
Might buy a full set but not sure, i already got multiple tool cabinets for just screws so it's a bit hard to justify.
