- BIGGEST NEW JERSEY SURF IN 30 YEARS
Monday, December 18th, 2023 was the biggest surf New Jersey’s seen in over 30 years.
Surfing New Jersey in the middle of the winter is a challenge given the freezing temperatures, stiff offshore winds, rip currents, thick wetsuits, and steep drop ins. Add the biggest swell in history and it becomes a true challenge only a handful of surfers are down to attempt.
According to Surfline, the Delaware Bay buoy recorded a staggering 6.3 meters at 15 seconds on Monday morning, solidifying its place in East Coast surfing history.
Enjoy the highlights from this El Niño-influenced swell as surfers pushed the limits in a classic big wave surfing fashion.

NJ got some bangers. These guys surfing are legends
Respect for first finding those waves in NJ, and then being able to properly ride them! I got Cali vibes 😎
There is one shot that gives it away, but I ain’t saying. It gives an approximation how far away from the landmark.
The whole coast was looking like this for the most part.
Former NJ surfer,
26 years San Diego.
Love seeing my old stomping grounds from the 80’s and 90’s
So good. Love seeing how deep some of these guys are taking off.
Woooo whooooo. Great job on line of sight.video and waves... mind blowing....
From NJ live in LA and love all surf videos!!!!
This is the second day when it was smaller. Missed Monday afternoon.
Yeah, but this looks more maleable. Get pounded but not die like the first day.
A smaller version of, but as hollow as….Puerto Escondido. And that’s a compliment NJ🏄
you guys caught some great rides
I didn't see this at Lbi
Ballls NJ baby!!
best waves of my life were post storm Havey Ceders nj ... overhead tubes and 3 guys out
Always always big surf in NJ 3rd week of December, like clockwork. I've seen bigger. Always amazed at the skills on hand. Kudos.
Yeah Max Beach!!!!
WOW
Looks like big Hatteras.
Perfect day for my moonraker
... Well done, some nice sections made. Documents the sad fact that even when it's really good in Jersey, it's a (mostly losing) battle to actually make a heavy section and/or exit an epic-barrel. Props' to everyone who tried though; made all the more difficult with excess Neoprene, cold biting winds, and heavy currents. Jersey kind of forces you to either shoulder-hop, pick-off the smaller "in-between" waves, or commit to getting seriously hammered (as #3 did at the 0:36 mark) - 600.00+ $$ over-the knee, Ouchh !! - A "SoCal" Surfer surely knows what i'm Sayin'
Good banks, awesome surfing!???
I swear, Jersey has the NASTIEST water
really nice barrels made out there. some beasts... was this jenks?
A little north of Jenks
And this is the day after the big day. FYI
@@waxer420 - craziness
@@jeffg4686 Belmar or Squan probably
@@mikestarr6634 3:43 looks like Belmar looking south into Spring Lake.
Imagine trying to paddle in all that shit they have to wear into waves like that.
That water looks really dirty and muddy
Wrong day. The day before was twice as big.
What exit is this?
98 100%

I surfed it bigger than the video 20 years ago at Manasquan.
This was day 2. On day 1, when it went offshore, effing massive and clean, in some spots.
I surfed bigger waves 50 years ago, you surfed nothing kiddo
@@ChickenJoe-tq6xd Pathetic. 100 years ago it was 60 foot and I was the only charger out.
Hiw do you have a video of new jersey surfing and NO BEN GRAVY lol? ? ? Awesome video though
A lot better chargers in New Jersey than gravy
@@ChickenJoe-tq6xd obviously lol. It was a joke
@@lnr12241 Ben was too busy with his boyfriend Zeke when this was happening
How about say where in New Jersey for Christ sakes
Jersey can't handle a big swell like this. 90% closeouts
That is when south side Seal Beach Ca. pumps, when everything is walled off, only Seal Beach pumps.
@@Moondoggy1941yea, dont go
