my grandpa used to sing this to me all the time before he died. Every time I listen to this it brings tears to my eyes. I love you Grandpa. you'll always be in my heart.
lol ArianaGrandeVevo you're grandpa is certainly on RUclips as we speak, reading your comment with tears also in his eyes. RUclips in heaven runs without internet I hear.
My grandpa loved Elvira and Dolly Parton for the same reasons, the two big reasons right out in front of each of them. LoL! So... Yeah, I hear ya there. I think of my paternal grandpa and miss him when I hear that song too. He was straight out of the Missouri hollers, LITERALLY. He was an awesome and wonderful man and a magnificent grandpa to me. I'll be glad to see him up yonder someday. ☝️☺️ I'm sorry that you miss your grandpa too. But it's nice that we can both think of them whenever this old song plays. Now ya got ME all teared up too. Sigh... It won't be long... Then maybe we can introduce our grandpas to each other. ☝️😁 ☺️👍 My thoughts are with you today @lol ArianaGrandeVevo Toddly☘️

Richard Sterbens' rumblin' bass voice just gives me the chills - I've heard this song about a thousand times and he still gets me with that oompapa mowmow ! JUST LOVE IT !!!!!
We sure loved this song when we were kids!!!!!!!! We used to sing it all the time!!!!! 1981. This deep voice guy was part of the Stamps quartet with Elvis too.
When singing this in concert and Richard Sterban hits that low note "yeah", the entire building, all the chairs, and every person shakes. You feel it in every part of you. Been a fan since before I was born and I used to be able to tell you what song of theirs it was in the first 5 notes. They are still my favorite band after 37 years.
That bass voice of his, shakes my headphones. He would be great in an Opera. Don Giovanni comes to mind, the Commodore inviting Don G. to dinner/ Doom.
This guy singing lead always made my heart pump a little faster cause the way he got so animated LOL and that bassy guy tore me up! We got to go see them back in the 80s in KC and then I saw them again here where I live now...
GREAT bunch of fellas! I met Joe Bonsall at Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo NY back in the early 70's while he sang with the Keystones Quartet featuring Garland Croft on the keyboards. I wrote to him recently and after all this time and the fame the Oak Ridge Boys have garnered, he wrote me back. What a fine human being. So humble and thankful for all that God has given him. A true treasure and an inspiriation to all who know and love him. Thanks Joe.
Damn straight! If a guy has a voice that goes all the way through the floor like that, he can have anyone he wants! I get a wide-on everytime I hear it..
Even though today's generation plays Justin Bieber and One Direction's songs, I'd still listen to these Oak Ridge Boys more than those contemporary teen's dance pop music and hip hop. I love these guys, very much!!!!!!! Thumbs up if you thought the same as what I said.
Have you seen the ORB doing this with the country a cappella group Home Free? -> ruclips.net/video/Wgm9gZs1hYw/видео.html Great music is still out there even nowadays but sadly enough, it doesn't usually get played on the radio.
In the car my dad turns up the radio and we sing along and try but fail the low voiced man my first time listening to the song I loved it and the low voiced man he shakes the pickup doors XD
+Jasen Collins Too right, sir! And The ORB recently invited Home Free --- NBC's 4th season winners of "The Sing-Off" competition --- to join them in a 21st-century update of "ELVIRA" (You-Tube/Google-search for "Home Free Elvira"). Take a look . . . . and be blown a-wayyyyy.
years ago at a local sports club in Brisbane, Australia there was a karaoke night & I requested this song, which was fine with the main male singers, provided I sing along with them and I did - it was awesome ~ ♪♫☆❤☆♫♪ ~
+Sam Shim Same with me.. Watched Home Free version and make me curious about the original version. And really interesting to see them when them much younger..

Heard a snippet of this song on Family Guy and then immediately looked it up...I love it, lol! Then, to make it even better, if you look closely at the audience you will see the camera pan over and catch Teddy Pendergrass in the audience loving it too (at the first break)! Lmao, that's excellent, good music is good music!
Came across this in memory of the kitty cat we had when I was a little girl. My dad was playing the record with this song at the time she didn't have a name. So I named her Elvira after this song. It not only sounded cool but she was found in the country. We were visiting Grandma Hazel and we went to Lockie Belles house to visit an my brother found her in a wood pile. That's the story of our cat Elvira and how she got her name.
I've loved them since 1981 after hearing Elvira.Richard was the first man I called handsome.I saw them in concert,1984.They were great.I notice Joe gets out of breath now jumping! I've seen a variety of groups from Oak Ridge Boys to Monkees with these two groups the best I've seen.
As a millennial, I have to agree with grabbber. Most of these pop artists today are going EDM. Don’t get me wrong, some of the pop singers today have some decent singing talents, but it’s mostly these guys listening to too much rap music with autotune crap. This is one reason why if I were to listen to modern music, it’ll mostly be hard rock stuff. This is my opinion.
Love this video and song. The first guy looks a lot like Oates from Hall and Oates. (At least back in the 80's). ANd you gotta love the guy on the end with the deep voice...he stole the show.

In a couple of thousand years, music historians will believe that Joe Bonsall and John Oates are the same person.
Lol!
Maury: In the case of John Oates, Joe Bonsall...You ARE the father!!!
OH my god I haven't heard this song since I was 10!! It was my favourite song forever!! I miss these guys!
