Back in the day, in film school, the director of Cedar Rapids, Miguel Arteta, visited to talk to our class, and he said that the tone of that movie could have been way different because of outside influence, because of who was in the cast and who was the lead in the film (Helms) and that it was basically a glorified independent movie (Fox Searchlight), but that he stuck to his guns and he basically was able to do a lot of what he wanted. I mostly asked him about The Good Girl since that was and probably still is, imo, the best performance I've seen from Jennifer Aniston.

A really good point on being really famous or being wealthy. You can't do the things you used to do, so you loose that social aspect of your life. Some adjust some don't.
I'm friends with a really wealthy man, and a celebrity. Whenever they come back into town, we can't just hang out on the town.

You can’t know what all’s involved/ how you’ll react UNTIL you’re in it. And once you are, if you decide it’s not for you, you can’t just reverse the process. Even if you become less popular, you can’t ever be as anonymous as you were before. And if you DO try to strike a balance or be more private, you’re labeled as ungrateful & unapproachable. It’s a wonder so many celebs are eventually deemed “crazy”🤔

It's really interesting to me because so few people know what it's like, and it's such a weird thing that I'm sure you'd have to actually have to experience. I'd never want to be like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise famous, but I wouldn't being like Aaron Sorkin famous. I just knew him as that guy who was in those movies and then suddenly played Rusty Griswold in that not so great looking Vacation movie, but then I saw him killing it in the Office. Was the same for me with Will Arnett, he was in those Turtles movies I don't wanna watch (as a fan of the comic and the first movie from the 90's), and then came Arrested Development into my life - I can only say "I've made a huge mistake."

It just means that celebs come here and walk around and people leave them alone. Not out of respect, just for the pure fact that we don't want them thinking they're anymore important than anyone else. It's been a humbling experience for many I think (including the Kardiashians who walked through a major central park in Dublin and nobody gave a feck). Granted, this isn't always the case and you'll always have some fans eager to say hi or whatever but for the most part... you'll be left alone and you should remember that the reason is because we all think you've a big enough head already.

Loved Sona’s reaction to Conan’s “He is literally a rat” comment…
I totally get you Sona, I feel you!

How important are headphones for podcasts? I love hearing podcasts but when I try to watch, it bothers me to see everyone in headphones for some reason.

If Conan can release these short videos of the long interviews, why not the whole episode. I have to listen to the rest on audio only @ Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend.
Does anybody know if there is a way?

    • @gpc_4279

The full podcast episode is probably highly edited. Gourley has to be doing something.

    • @dcool2u2
      @dcool2u2 Год назад +1

@@gpc_4279 Yeah, they cut up the video into small segments for RUclips as not to differ from the edited full audio podcast.
But sometimes I'll avoid the audio only because I'm more in the mood to watch something.

I’m still pissed at Ed Helms because he was supposed appear on Late Night w/ Conan in 09 and cancelled. I was in the audience that day. But we got Al Roker as a last min fill in.

Did the office writers get jealous of Ed Helms’ popularity and that’s why they did Andy dirty?

  • @arthursdl

I wonder if Ed ever thought the writers from the Office tried to get back at him for temporary leaving to do The Hangover by destroying Andy's character development by the end of the show

Ed Helms, what a funny man,
    His humor is always grand,
    He makes us all laugh,
    And sometimes he's bad,
But when he's on the mic he's the best in the land.
    He's been in The Hangover
Where his jokes made you sober,
    And in The Office,
    Where he was no novice,
But his greatest role came in Vacation,
Where he was the star of this great nation.
He's an actor still on the rise,
Who gives us all pleasant surprise,
    From his movies and standup,
His jokes will fill your cup
