  • A customer comes to Steve with two very rare watches. One was military-issued and taken from a German Nazi solider during World War II. The other dates from the 1950's. It's up to Central Watch to repair these classic timepieces, but also find the correct replacement parts. You'll see the results of many months of hard work to restore these vintage watches.

Incredible story of a families sacrifice on the battlefield. Fortunately the timepieces she was able to keep coupled with Central Watch expertise, the watches can now tell stories for many more generations. And that’s serious horology.

The ERA watch is actually a watch issued for the Dutch military as it has the crown and W from Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands. It is known among collectors that ERA (together with Universal Geneve) was a manufacturer for the Dutch army. It is not unlikely it was confiscated by the Germans during the occupation of the Netherlands and re-issued to a German soldier. In any case a very interesting watch!

Luckily, she didn’t care too much about preserving the Wehrmacht watch. Otherwise, if she was someone like me, she would have a meltdown. The case and crystal felt the action, and displayed it for over a half-century only to be jettisoned for an improper case. It’s a pity.

Strikes me that saving the movement trumped keeping the watch in a deteriorating case. It seems clear she was given the old case for each watch to insure the history was retained...

Why replace the case of the german watch with somthing very different? Now it is not original anymore. I liked the patina of the original case much more

This is a great channel. Keep up the postings. FYI, video viewers appreciate some feedback - it helps the RUclips algorithm sort out what is "important" to people.
