I do too, and I can't help but think these girls being mean girl bullied to her made her cling more to the guys and crave validation and friendship from them. I'm not justifying what she did to Ariana as her and Sheena, who seemed to be the only ones that cared about her, but might explain why she seeks out attention from men, if this is how her 'friends' treat her.

I feel they were absolutely horrific to Raquel. Interestingly she didn’t start her affair until after this trip. We have to remember they’re laying into her for really no reason at all. Other than she kissed a guy both her and Lala liked. This was before the Scandavol and all that started. I wonder if this cruel behaviour, from the woman she’s trying to fit in with, had her seeking love and affection and reassurance where she shouldn’t, and Tom took advantage of that. I just wish Raquel had not had an affair with Ariana’s man, the one girl who had her back. I think if that hadn’t happened, we’d all be rooting for her amongst these ‘mean’ girls. Including Katie’s ‘nobody’ friend who’s reappeared in the show. As for Lala. Her ego is repulsive. I used to really like Lala but shes so fake, so OTT and so sure her sh*t doesn’t stink. She’s so aggressive. Tries to put her aggression out without getting blame (like Lisa R in RHOBH). It’s highly unattractive, and she’s got double standards. This made me cry. I think she was just lost and felt really alone, and Tom took advantage of it. I have been in the exact same position at the exact same age, and trust me, I never expected to be that girl. But the emotional turmoil of feeling isolated and disliked, yet trying so hard to fit in somewhere and make something last for your career and life, can be really challenging. Especially at that age, actually, because as a teenager, you somewhat depend on your parents, so if you have that support system, you're less likely to be preyed upon. However, if you find yourself in the position of being an underdog or lacking support at, say, 28, and you really want to make your current situation work (especially professionally), but you are being bullied, it is very likely that you will latch onto whoever is supporting and comforting you because you are in survival mode and don't even know it.
Ariana and she were "friends" but they were not "intimate" friends. She lost her best friend when she and James broke up. It's one thing to be lonely like that but to also be being somewhat bullied by your coworkers, and for nothing, when you are in a position when you are desperately trying to make the situation work (with financial needs also playing a huge part), it is an even worse feeling. Beyond that, Rachel herself said many times this season that she didn't know who the fuck she was anymore. She was pretty transparent about that.
Tom is more than ten years older than her, and he took advantage of her. Speaking from experience, I now see the signs. But when you have never been in that position before and you are being demeaned and bullied just for being quirky and yourself, AT WORK, for that matter, for someone to "see you" and lift you up and pour into you... she probably thought she was in love with him.
Finally, who really knows how connected her and Ariana were in terms of being true friends? Not saying they weren't, but I'd be curious to know.
I agree. Raquel received heat for staying with James, now she is being looked down on for having a single phase. She’s always been nice, yet can’t do right by this group.
Her relationship with James was rough to watch, I can’t imagine what we didn’t see. She seems to be in such a vulnerable space, and I get Katie has her own thing with Schwartz, but at this stage Raquel is being harmless and in need of some supportive friends. I can easily see how Tom could have used her to feed his ego
I also agree with you. Broken people break other people. Lala was being horrible to Raquel because of her own issues. And these other two ladies are such hypocrites as well. We can all see the subtle ways they're isolating her and making as if something is wrong with her. This shows are really dangerous. I hope wherever Raquel is, she heals and life will be kind again.

It’s horrible to see such mean girl bullying and how it occurs so seamlessly in situations where one girl (usually the weakest most vulnerable link) is put down so casually with such ease.

Scandoval aside, Raquel has the vibe of someone who has suffered a lot of emotional abuse and bullying, probably her whole life. Lala has bullied her for years--well the whole cast has made fun of her intelligence/lack there of---it's so demeaning to mock someone's intelligence. She clearly has self worth issues and poor boundaries. Plus, the amount of abuse she put up with by James was appalling, and very telling. I have sympathy for her in that respect. It's easy to point fingers and project whatever we think is going on with someone. I just see someone who's broken and has been for along time. Her immaturity, impulsivity , detachment, tendency to be easily lead/influenced is something I have seen in people suffering from severe emotional abuse ( think cult members)..these are coping mechanisms. She will keep making bad choices, self-sabotage until she heals her trauma and deep rooted issues. I wish her well in her healing journey.
