Jules is so real raw and authentic. Edith seems like that girlfriend who can be friends with anyone regardless of Social status as long as she feels connected to you. There is something very grounded about her.
Oh Jules, Jules... Your greatest success is your essence. It's so hard to even fathom the fact that you haven't yet realized the power with which you move. I think many of us have expressed how we would listen to you all day, everyday forever, no matter whatever it is you say coz there's just something about you we can't get enough of. Someone needs to get a throne for you to sit on & rule over mother Earth coz that's where it really is at.
Jules has spoken for a lot of us honestly. It's not easy to believe that money isn't everything especially in our society. I love Edith's Charismatic communication skills. This was very raw and authentic.
I don't understand the negativity in these comments. First, it's never been the vibe of this podcast. Second, the show is called It's Related I Promise, it's about finding connections between things, so them making comparisons to their guests' experiences in the spirit of the show. They are meant to draw parallels from each other's stories. Third, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. I enjoyed the show AS ALWAYS ladies! Thank you!
Just watched this again and I want to say THANK YOU Sharon for sharing authentically about your post google imposter syndrome. Thanks also to Edith for opening up about that feeling of sudden responsibility when you are bringing new income into the family. Jules has a confidence about her that is admirable and I LOVED that she mentioned bringing your insecurities to Jesus will ground you in such moments. This was real. Thanks again ladies and God bless you.
As a 24 year old tryiny to set a good foundation for my career, this was very relatable. I struggled the idea of not being enough or deserving of the seat. What keeps me going is my story. I think about where I have come from and imagine where I could be in future. Loved loved this episode.
This is such a wholesome conversation. Different angles were touched on in regards to the topic. Edith is articulate, graceful and eloquent. Could listen to her all day.
I completely resonate with Edith. Attachment to career, money, cars, material things is so fleeting. Kenyans unfortunately are competitive and want to show that they're doing well which is ridiculous. In the west, a millionaire can be dressed as a homeless person and no one cares. At some point in life you start to realise that these things are not so important. Rather your value system, spending time with family and friends, health, community and security. But then again, financial security is so important!
I really resonate with Jules especially on the scarcity mindset which also brings about limiting beliefs and I am slowly learning to believe things will happen when they are supposed to happen even though now it doesn’t seem that way.
I really agree with Jules on the confused messaging. I am a new graduate and on one hand there is pressure to get a job both from the society, your peers and yourself and at the same time people are say everyone is on their own journey.
Ladies, THANK YOU! The authenticity and vulnerability from each of you was healing and validating. I really resonated with Edith’s story - I am living something similar now ( the main difference is I’m not so young (30) but in my circle it feels like I have achieved something really big). Edith articulated what I’ve been feeling so well. Thank you all really. This was such a wholesome conversation.❤
51:40 "Hedonic treadmill" is basically what Jules is talking about. It's a psychological concept that People often always return to a baseline level of happiness regardless of any positive or negative change to their lives. For Example... when you get your dream car... you'll be happy for sometime but your level of happiness will revert to a "Normal" level as below... Same as say you get retrenched ..you will be sad ofcourse, but not forever then your happiness will stabilise back to its usual level over time. So with this kind of knowledge, it is better not to chase happiness in material things or grand experiences, for that will wear off in time. However, if we focus on the meaningful things and relationships in life that have long lasting happiness we won't be susceptible to the things that lose their meaningfulness and joy quickly like material possessions.
I love these kinds of conversations. I recently heard an old man say one way to define one's success is - to define ''what is your enough''. He also said that defining success with material things is really not the best thing to do because when you reach a certain level or acquire these items, you now feel the need to get the next big thing etc.
Thank you Julia for always affirming that I'm not crazy. I notice a change in energy, mood & everything in-between. My take home is that I don't have to do anything about it.
Thankyou so much for this episode, it's been extremely therapeutic and relatable in different ways. Especially when Jules expounded on her definition of success because I relate to that type of definition, Edith was a great addition to the conversation too💕
This is so timely. I'll remember to keep reminding myself that I am enough and I belong especially now I am going to another continent away from Africa.
would love it if you guys had Edith over again. I am a fan of Sharon... and I can see how listening to Edith brought similar experiences to mind. Matter of fact, I have seen myself do that, bringing up a relatable story when listening to someone else's story... its so natural :) But sitting as an audience, it did feel like we were robbed of a chance to hear more Edith's story due to Sharon's interjections. If this is not the intention maybe you can reconsider your approach when you have guests.... Jules, loved your views and bringing back the questions re-directing us to Edith.
Just sat here listening and suddenly i go "waah enyewe mali ya Larry hii, must be nice" (in no way shape or form should that be inferred as an objectification btw) dope episode!!
Sharon’s severance from Google narrative is a story she has told one too many times. Would have been nice to hear Edith Kimani’s singular story without so many interruptions. And inane comparisons.
On the point Jules mentioned that kids these days are looking to be where our folks were in their 40s, I got my two cents. The cost of living and life in general has gotten so pricey that if we don't strive to be where our folks we're in their 40s, we might not be able to afford basic needs. Look at the price of housing, furnishing that house. Buying a bed, curtains, just basic stuff, costs an arm and a leg. The situation around us is forcing us to adapt in such a manner.
This was such an insightful episode. I relate to Jules so much and it’s great to have different perspectives on this. I loved Edith’s pov of radical acceptance on both fronts. It may or may not work out and that’s okay 👌
This is so in line with what im doing now. Redefining success. Takes a lot of unlearning esp when you are doing all the right things but no bank account to match. At least not yet
we sure need another part2 for this talk cause i feel you still have more to tell us on imposter syndrome.... but thanks for this it cleared something in me 😊😘
@@ndungeme7975 That just means that financial challenges often stem from not having the right ideas or strategies to generate or manage money, rather than a lack of money itself. For example, if someone is struggling financially, it's not just because they don't have enough money, but because they haven't found a way to increase their income, save effectively, or invest wisely. By thinking creatively and finding new ways to solve problems, make money, or use resources efficiently, they can overcome financial difficulties. The key is to focus on developing ideas and solutions rather than just worrying about the lack of money.
Kudos for adding little more time. They say listen to the grievances of your audience therein lies your growth and development as creator or entrepreneur. You guys are doing GREAT,proud of you, honestly you're gonna be big.

I feel like Jules is confused slightly about what money does for a person in our current political and economic setup. The real value that money brings isn't the status and lifestyle but FREEDOM.
I empathise with Jules' feeling of not having made it, but her reason for this feeling is mixed up. Financial security is different from having lots of money and the goodies it comes with. On the same breath.. Can we talk about making it late.. Have a guest who found success late in life for us to try balance pressures of life
Please, please, and please ladies.
Yesss!!!!!i hope they see this
True, who are the majority anyway
Yes and not like 30s late, like late 40s or 50s late. A lot of people build slowly to the life they want and it can take most of their adult life.

I noticed this too
I noticed this as well ☝️🤦♀️
She definitely hogged this conversation and kept referring to her own experiences. It's a podcast anyway , what do we know 😊.
I think it is meant to be a conversation not an interview
I noticed that she tends to do that in most episodes . She interjects the speakers most times interrupting the flow of the conversation.
