U.S. Chemical Weapons Stockpile Destruction 2023

The United States completed total destruction of its chemical weapons stockpile on July 7, 2023. This historical milestone was achieved in advance of the Chemical Weapons Convention treaty commitment date of Sept. 30, 2023.
The Program Executive Office, Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (PEO ACWA) continues to oversee closure operations, following the complete destruction of the chemical weapons stockpile at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Kentucky and the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot in Colorado. The Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) completed chemical weapons destruction on July 7, 2023, and the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) completed chemical weapons destruction on June 22, 2023.
