Great tip! When I haven't got a stethoscope, I make use of a piece of hose.

I have one of those stethoscopes its a time save, IF you don't have one you can use a long screwdriver or a length of rubber hose.

Yes I used a screwdriver for years before i bought a stethoscope. One of those "wish I had bought one earlier"

Love the headlining Adam . Is this on the to do list ? 😅 l've seen a XK150 advertised in JEC with this engine .....wouldn't be my first choice Adam . Cheers !

I think the X150 XK came with the 3.5 V8 as the entry level, not the 3.2 V8. But the 3.2 is really a sweet engine. Of course, the 4.0 S/C has much more punch but the 3.2 is a great match for the XJ8. Especially in the "Sport" trim (black trim over black or silver paint), which is very hard to find. And the sagging headlining ... it's the curse of every Jaguar owner :-) It's got to be fixed.

The owner installed the wooden slats to hold it up. Pretty nifty
He has asked me to order a new one for him

I am so glad to see you working on an X308. I’ve got 98 and so far it’s been a very good car but I have a 4.0 in mine.

Change the bearing in the alternator? Or is it one of the riveted together ones. A good video as ever.

Not really economically viable to do. Can't justify charging the customer for that when I have a good spare one.

Hey, unrelated question to the video. Do you know how to clean VVT selonoids on jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6? Is it the same procedure as changing coils and spark plugs where you have to remove the big thing on top of the engine?

One side should come of without the intake but I think the other side needs the intake to come off.

Good job! I've just replaced the support bearing and its bracket on my XJ40 and there was no need to replace the drive shaft. I imagine they have changed a little bit how it is made.

Yes the X300 is the last car where you can just change the bearing. Not sure why they made this change, it is not for the better.

@@LivingWithAClassic And my 1991 XJ40 is from one of the 2 years where they used the Volvo bracket. Not a wonderful design either.
