L'arc en ciel is one of the first japanese bands who reached success overseas, for Japanese music lovers who's in mid 30s now, they're like their childhood memories . You really cant pick a song that represent them because they're very versatile. Apparently all the songs you pick are the happy-go-lucky ones, you should try some of their darker or even sappy songs.
Not even music lovers, L'arc en ciel was all over the place in 90s. You heard them in stores, arcades, anime, long running shows, music shows, you name it. Even those who don't really listen to them, they can sure recognize a few songs.

Gackt is a soloist though.Malice Mizer would be a good starting point though although they had had 3 singers however Gackt era was the most popular and long lasting.

The fact that the lead vocalist is color blind and chose to name his band rainbow in French is very romantic
A great thing about this band is that their songs sound catchy and new even if they are actually old songs. I mean Flower is from around 1995 or 1996 if I remmeber correctly and Honey from around 1999. Yet they still sound so upbeat and enjoyable now. Good music has no age. I'd suggest checking out their songs Lorelay, Forbidden Lover, My heart draws a dream, Jojoushi, Everlasting... oh honestly, there are too many good songs. xD Thank you for the reaction. ^o^

And if you want to see them live maybe you will have an opportunity to meet them on their next World Tour(I hope they include LatinAmerica too TnT) you must listen to Revelation, XXX, Chase, Cradle, Daybreak's Bell and good they have so many good songs!
PS: I've heard that in their first concerts(90's I think) there was one time they throw a watermelon to the crowd xD now the only fruit they throw is bananas, the bass player even created a "pet" which name is Mukimpo and its a banana xD

I started listening to L’Arc since I was 13. I am 22 now and I will see HYDE for the second time in Chicago this month! Part of the reason I started this channel was because of Larc en Ciel inspiring me to play drums again after taking a 2 year depression break. I owe everything to this band for how much it’s pushed me and influenced me throughout my whole life
well Hyde (vocalist) is turning 48 this year ('69, year older than my mother XD) and he still looks fabulous 👌 the rst of the band is aroud the same age and you also should watch T.M.Revolution (a soloist, real name Takanori Ishikawa) he's done a lot of anime openings e.g. Soul Eater

thanks for featuring L`Arc~en~Ciel . they are really amazing! they'll be having their 25th anniversary concert in Tokyo Dome this April. hopefully, you could go and watch them. but most of us fans living outside japan are hoping for a world tour.
their madison square garden perfomance wasn't their first time in the US. but they are the first japanese act to perform in MSG. ^_^

Love this! Haha, it's so great to see them gain new fans. I have been a L'Arc fan since 1999. FYI, their MSG concert wasn't their first in the U.S. They first played in Baltimore in 2004. :) They also played in Hawaii after MSG. I was at all concerts and have traveled to Japan twice to see them . Their lives are truly an experience!

Omg I remember being 9 and listening to L'arc~en~ciel because my mom liked them. I'm 21 now lol. I saw Hyde live with Vamps back in November and damn that was one hell of a performance.
Also, one thing I noticed from going to a lot of Japanese concerts is that they give out a lot more guitar picks and drum sticks to the crowd than "English" bands (how else could I describe that lol).
The best japanese band ever!!!! 😍 hear all their songs! you're gonna love them ❤
the Madison Square Garden concert was their 2nd time in the U.S. The first time was in 2004 in Baltimore, MD. I was at the first one :)

I love them! Laruku (l'arc en ciel) 17 years being a fan of them! they are legends! and I met Hyde ( vocal) in Chile...he is so kind!

the Flower live video was literally the best way ever for you to start listening to L'arc-en-ciel, everything in this performance is perfect! i can guarantee you'll have a great time listening to all of their songs! Could you react to buck-tick next time? especially the song Kuchizuke!
This year, in 2017, they will have a 2 Days Live in Tokyo Dome, 100 000 Tickets was sold out in 5 min !
From around 600 000 people was trying to get a tickets, but here was just of 100 000 tickets on sale, because band planned concert for 100 000 people in 2 days, mean, one day 50 000 and other day also 50 000 !
Also from overseas fans was trying to get a tickets for this concert in Tokyo Dome, it was 20 000 peoples !
so, to get a ticket into this band concert is really hard thing, because tickets all the time are sold out so quickly !

To answer your question about the amount of fans in that first video, the capacity for that stadium is 68,000 during sporting events, but concerts have the floor seating as well, so I would guesstimate closer to 80,000?

The singer, Hyde, with his band Vamps were touring UK with Apocalyptica in 2015. They made a song together and it´s pretty good. I will forever hate myself for finding out about it late. The tickets were sold out by that time.

I'm glad you made a video about my favorite band! They are so big in my country! And they had world tours a lot before. hope they will come to your country soon!:)
If you will make another video about them, I highly recommend these song, Niji, Neo Universe, Finale ,Kasou. Of course there are much more great song of them, but I think that you can see why they are sounds so awesome from these songs.
The songs you picked in this video are super duper good! But they are so great in slower songs as well. I believe that there are two big points why they are extraordinarily. 1. Those all 4 members have special skills to show us their great characteristics on their sounds. I feel like all instruments (and voice) are singing in their songs. Not just making sounds, but they are all singing! 2. Lots of their songs contain some darkness or sad meaning. However, they show all the negativities in incredibly beautiful sounds with their songs. Like something supposed to be looked dark just appears with shiny jewels, and it's so sparkly beautiful.

ah finally... I've become a fan way back in 1998 when I heard the opening for Rurouni Kenshin and DNA²... Laruku always surprises me with really awesome songs ^^ they're not my favorite band but my very first japanese rockband and it made me fall in love with J-Rock and J-Pop... so I'll always be greatful for their existence...

if im not wrong, that vocalist (Hyde) is a friend of the bassist of another band that i love called SID. (also i think SID did a cover of a song of this band calling like.. "shoot at devil", i recomed you yo listen both version and also you could hear somethin from SID too) both work in a project with other japanes musican called the "halloween junky orchestra" or something like that.. also Hyde had/or have, another band called Vamps :D if you're interest!

Okay, confession time on how I found L'arc en Ciel. In 2012, my friend gave me a Shoujo Beat magazine from 2006 she found at a yard sale. On the back, there was an advert for their newest album (whatever it was in 2006). It looked kind of interesting, so I looked them up. Still in love today!
They didn't release an album in 2006. Lmao
L'arc~en~ciel is one of my favorites because of Fullmetal Alchemist's opener with Ready, Steady, Go! Happy to see this video, thanks for it.
You should also react to T.M.Revolution. Great live and on studio. He has done a lot of anime openings for example Soul Eater, or with his band Abingdon Boy School for D. Gray-man, etc.

Malice Mizer all the way! it's one of the major bands around the time of L'arc En Ciel and X japan, and those bands were said to be the fathers for visual kei for today.
They also have three different eras of music though, so it's hard to recommend which ones you should listen to, since they went through different singers
My favourite from the Gackt period was Le Ciel, and my favourite from the Klaha period was Gensuou Rakuen. Figured I'd give you some options~

Two of my favourite songs from L'arc en Ciel are "Driver's High" from one of my fav anime Great Teacher Onizuka and "Blurry Eyes". Both are energetic and fun.
You should listen to the song Loreley! The vocalist also has a solo career (Hyde) and a band (Vamps) you should check out.
