This is heartbreaking. So they wanted her to be lightskin/look mixed. I feel horrible for her. So essentially they wanted her to bleach her skin and either straighten or curl her hair.

A lot of the castings will say searching for African-American woman in her 20s* natural wavy hair, creme complexion and light colored eyes.

SOME black girls do drink pumpkin spice lattes and THAT stereotype for a black girl is the character Hollywood wants to convey in their media to a certain audience to pass off as fake woke “diversity”. However, taking that depiction of a darker skinned actor/actress doing that because it wouldn’t be the ideal “image” (the basis of this entire video) is why Coco said what she said in the mannerism she did it. It’s about stereotypes, yes but more so calling out the gatekeepers in media who are trying to keep it the status quo by not trying to actually be diverse and make roles that cater to a more broaden idea of a black girl or POC instead of romanticizing the idea of how to make a black girl or another other POC easy to translate to white audiences.
