    If I had to live my life with just one song, one artist, this would be it. So reminds me of my years in LA. Driving the 134 and the 210.

    Always loved Larry and hes been a big inspiration on my own playing.."Larry, the sweetest story teller on a fretboard"
    I dont believe he was in his zone on this one and his tone didnt have that warmth that he usually has..hey but still its Larry and hes already proven hes one of the best!!..and theres only really a handfull of them.

    The transition/size difference between inlays 9-12 seems odd to me. Is that stock on this model of 335 (68' I believe)? Great playing and tone for sure! Peacefully smooth.

    • @geetarnut
      @geetarnut 9 лет назад +1

      +Steve Anger You can get really really close to Larry's tone/sound with those pickups,, in almost any Gibson-"ES" series double cutaway semi-hollow body guitar! I had a very nice tobacco sunburst es-333, and it delivered that same tone as Larry gets, minus the dumbles contribution!!!

    • @gitaar335

      Sharp observation! the fretboard was probably shaved during refret, the pearl at the
      9th fret is somewhat gone at the treble side and a bit transparent at te edge.

      andocrates Hah, I never noticed that Peg and Hill Street Blues sound quite similar. I just assumed this was based on/inspired by Peg since Larry worked with Steely Dan quite a bit.

    • @lusoverse8710
      @lusoverse8710 7 лет назад

      Late to this, but...Hey, at least he uses his pinky. Lots of would-be guitarists totally forget they have a fourth finger. It's weak, but it's worth building its strength up, lest you get stuck forever in ring-finger blues mode.
      Of course Django managed brilliantly with just two working fingers...

    I love Larry Carlton but this performance sorta sucks. The guitars 2nd (B) string is out of tune, slightly flat, and the amp sound is just very weak making for poor recording. Maybe he was having an off day? The Larry Carlton I love was just on holiday in this video.

    • @arthurmee
      @arthurmee 8 лет назад +3

      I think the tone can be put down to the fact that this is a lesson on how to play the track. So the emphasis is on clarity for the student. I must confess that I didn't notice the B string being slightly flat. Like you I'd cut this man a lot of slack given what music he's produced for us over the years.

    • @Deliquescentinsight
      @Deliquescentinsight 7 лет назад +7

      That is nonsense, I have excellent pitch and that B string aint flat- get the wax syringed out your ears mate, this is a demonstration not a performance.

    • @colinlarkin1861
      @colinlarkin1861 7 лет назад +4

      I think you completely missed the point. This is an instructional lesson for us to learn. Hence Larry is playing it as simplistically as he possibly can and technically correct to show the fingering. That in my world is superb and easy to follow, and certainly does not suck. I think you owe Larry an apology.
