    Plato had amazing ideas and wrote the Republic which I deem as one of the most historically significant books of all time. It influences me politically and a lot of others as well and could be argued as an influencer on a much bigger scale. I think you're overlooking what he did for humanity and politics as a whole.

    My favourite out of all the pre socratics would have to be Anaximenes because of the empirical approach he gives to rarefaction and condensation of air. It really is one of the earliest and only examples of ancient philosophers incorporating actual scientific experiments into their philosophy. Although the atomists and Anaximander are close seconds with their abstract yet logically plausible ideas of the apeiron and atomism. Good job! Would love to collaborate in the future. I have yet to touch atomism but I would love outside ideas.

      Thx for the comment. To be honest I actually have only read Lindberg and Grants literature on the subject and not the actual primary sources but I wonder how we know if there were any experiments involved in the pre-Socratics metaphysical theories since I want to remember that we only have small fragments of their works?(If you could share some sources I would appreciate it) Sure, what subjects would you like to collaborate on?

      Well The presocratics by Raven and Kirk is very good because it includes a couple of those translated sources so you could see for yourself.www.hrstud.unizg.hr/_download/repository/Kirk_Raven,_The_Presocratic_Philosophers.pdf
      I read about half of the book. What's great about it is that you can read each chapter exclusive of the other since they specifically cover one school of thought or philosopher.

      As in my other comment I would like to collaborate maybe on the Great schism between Eastern Orthodoxy and Catholicism. We could cover the religious aspects as well.

      Thx! Im not sure actually but i think it´s related to that Im focusing on subjects that a limited amount of people are interessted in and that I have been bad writing tags in many of my earlier videos.

      My pleasure! Do you have any favourite among the Pre-Socratic philosophers? :)

    • @zainablakdawala
      @zainablakdawala 6 лет назад

      Quill & Ink History i think for me its Empedocles because he very well integrates all the previous philosophies hence giving a plausible and acceptable philosophy!

      Interesting, what aspects of earlier thinkers do you mean that he integrated into his philosophy? For example, how did he integrate the Milesian philosophy into is own thought given that they were monistic materialists and he was neither?

      Quill & Ink History He took all the elements that is earth, water, air and fire and said that they all make up the world. Also he accepted change as well as stability!
      Which pre socratic philosopher do you like the most?
      Also why haven't you mentioned heraclitus who spoke about change and fire being the main element that the world is constituted of?

      My favorite among the Pre-Socratics is also Empedocles since I find his philosophy of nature to be more creative and unconventional compared to the other philosophers. The reason that I didn't include Heraclitus in the video(though I probably should have) is because he is not mentioned in the literature that I used for the video, I don't really know why though :/
