  • Helicopters, fixed wing aircraft and massive air tankers were all weaving across the Colorado sky Thursday as wildfires have been sparking around the state.

It’s been very hot and very dry. They’re all in the boundary line between prairie heat and foothills vegetation. Under these conditions a spark from a plow or mower blade hitting a rock can last long enough to catch in the high load of dry ground fuel.
All are stated as “human caused” but that only rules out lightning, electrical line sparking and errant embers from other active fires.

Smoke in the air, bro. It’s like sandpaper in your eyes. We’re getting it all up and down the front range.

Have you ever cut an onion with a dull knife? The sulfur in the onion saturates your tears and converts into sulfuric acid. Same thing with wild fire smoke, it contains lots of ... YOU GUESSED IT *SULFUR*
