That’s something folk just don’t understand. Katie, Julie and Samatha refereed to Nell as “mama” too. Nell promised the girls birth mother, Margaret, on her deathbed to look after her daughters and that’s what Nell did. She cared and loved those kids as if she gave birth to them. When Julie gave birth to her daughter, she named her daughter “Nell.” Give Nell Harper the credit she deserves.
