@@uniontrains.8631 There's plenty of dreams but lots that has come true to be thankful for. I think we'll see a 2102/2100 doubleheader in the not too distant future.
Is the turn table in Jim Thorpe big enough to turn 2102? Great scenes. So reminiscent of the "Schuylkill Shifter" back in 1991. Whistle still sounds the same.
@@1940limited Huh, maybe the Wikipedia page is off, or the google maps view could be distorted. Or they detached the tender and turned the locomotive and tender separately but that seems highly unlikely. I don't remember there being a wye around Jim Thorpe but there must be one somewhere.
@@pleasant_asymmetry I guess we're going to find out come May 28. It seems unlikely they'll run 2102 tender first from Jim Thorpe to Lower Reading with a heavy load behind it. Although they ran tender first for a good part of the coal train back in 1991. I'm sure BMR&N has it figured out.
Nice Video.Last i saw a 2100 series was back in the 1980s. Saw it at a crossing just east of Rutherford Pa.That whistle screams. Wonder if its a 3 chime step top.
Does anyone know how they're planning to paint the tender? WIll it simply say Reading with the yellow border like in the past or will it show Reading Blue mountain & Northern?
Began life as a Baldwin Built 2-8-0 and the Reading needed bigger power but couldn’t order new locomotives so they could build or rebuild current power to suit the demands of the war effort. So the Reading Company in their own shops rebuilt a bunch of 2-8-0’s using Baldwin parts to build them into 4-8-4 northerns

Oh, the sweet memories of the Rambles of my youth! So glad she has her original whistle.
What type of whistle is it?
Reading freight hooter

Nothing better than big steam out on the mainlines.
Can you imagine living in one of those houses or apartments, especially if you happen to also love trains !!?
Nice- can you pan the view to watch it go by next time?
8:10 What a paltry turnout for such an amazing event !! Where IS everybody ?!! Rain would not have stopped me !!!
Ok, 2100, soon you’re next!
I think Cuyahoga main line 4070 will beat it. See you at horseshoe curve double heading withi 2102.

Since 425 is out of service for its 1472 inspection, are they going to restore 225 or have 2102 handle the future excursions alone?

Measuring it on Google Maps, the turntable is around 100 feet long, Wikipedia says 2102 is around 110 feet long
@@pleasant_asymmetry Back in the 80 when 2102 came to Jim Thorpe they turned it somewhere. Must be a wye around? Thanks for the reply.

Unclear as to the turntable situation but there is now the new WYE installed last year at Jim Thorpe that can turn the engine

The whistle that 2102 is using right now is a Reading 1-chime freight whistle
@@rayvaul3539 Ok that really screams for a one chime. Thank you
@@BeeLineEast Yeah the Reading’s 1-chimes sound fantastic! And no problem.
Is it just me or does anyone else thinks it’s interesting that 2022 was 2102 original number as a 2-8-0 and that it returned to service in 2022?
Yeah and that is cool! Could it be a coincidence? I don’t know 🤷♂️
I love the irony and poetic justice of it, its masterful
