Momo you bring up a good point about the covers not reflecting the story. It could have been something where the covers were painted and took longer to produce than the actual insides. From my card collecting days, the 1980 Empire Strikes Back card set doesn't really fit the movie bc the studio sent them pictures for the set with no context. They were so paranoid about the secret Darth Vader was Lukes father getting leaked they didn't want any clues. So I could see this being a production issue. It was the same with the Hulk he was supposed to be Grey but the printer made him Green in issue 4 and he stayed that way.
My favorite Superman Cover is a WWII cover # 17 where he is holding Hitler & Emperor Hirohito by the back of their necks. An honorable mention would be the very affordable 133 when Superman is with the American 🇺🇸 GI’s as they parachute 🪂 on the cover.
Superman is my favorite superhero as well. I was named after Christopher Reeve by my dad. Top three for me are not hard to acquire at all and aren't crazy keys. My favorites are Superman 261 (Sapphire), 301 (Grundy), and 75 (Doomsday).
I think Superman is too overpowered in terms of superheroes. But I can relate to Clark Kent. No Superman hate intended. The #2 and #1 covers are very cool! I like the colors that they use!
I can see that. I think DC thought the same thing which is why they created Kryptonite Thanks, I think those are great covers too! Appreciate you watching and commenting!
Thanks for the suggestion! I'm actually looking to pick up some pretty big Fantastic Four books, I'd be happy to showcase them once I do. Are the Fantastic Four your favorite?
Bizarro is my favorite Superman villain, so Superboy #68 and Action Comics #254 are my dream books to own someday! You have a very impressive Superman collection! Great video!
In the silver age books when Mr. Mxyzptlk appeared they always had a how to pronounce his name I believe it was Mix-yez-pital- ick, so that's the way I've said it for the last 60+ years!
Another great video. Super awesome keys, these silver age grails with massive 1st appearances are hidden in plane sight. It’s only a matter of time and with the slightest nudge, these books are gonna go nuclear. Great eye bro!
Nice keys. Superman keys are kinda frustrating to collect with so many super keys being so scarce…im suprised that the 1st appearance of lex Luther is relatively affordable. Lex Luther is possibly in the top 2 to 5 villains of all time and definitely the second biggest originating in the gold age. So few on census!!!
100% agree, hard to collect. I'm surprised it doesn't go for more too, especially like you said with the low population I guess people are just more into Batman and Spiderman 🤷♂️
I like collecting first cover appearances also, so that's Action comics 27 (Lois Lane) and Action Comics 47 (Lex Luther). Just curious what are your thoughts on Action 23 vs Superman 4 in terms of first Lex Luthor appearance?
Those are great books! And yeah, that's a grey area for me. Technically I think Superman 4 was released first, right? But Action Comics 23 was the first Luthor story and was intended as the first appearance (they meet in the book)? So many of the golden age books are like that unfortunately. Like All Star Comics 8 vs. Sensation Comics 1 I'd be happy to own either book. Btw, your books are great, especially love the first Luthor cover! Going through that brick wall, it's awesome 😆
Both of those are great books! I'm a bigger fan of Superman's villains than Supergirl or Superboy personally That said, I'd be happy to own a copy of either book 🙂 Thanks for watching and commenting!
Superman is easily in my top 3 favorite heroes. Brainiac is a far superior villain compared to Luthor in my books. He has a intellect that can rival Superman's. I never really saw a threat or appeal to Lex Luthor (except Gene Hackman's Version). I'd have borderlined killed to have a true Man of Steel Sequel with Brainiac as the villain. DC casted the perfect Superman with Cavill since Christopher Reeve. Its not his fault the WB's Writers were stupid. Still peeved at WB for screwing him over like that.
Yeah, I can't believe they did him like that either. He was an awesome Superman. And I agree, Brainiac is far superior because of his abilities. I think the appeal to Luthor though is that he contrasts Superman. I liked Gene Hackman's portrayal, too! Hopefully we get Brainiac in the James Gunn DC universe 🤞
🤣 That is a classic cover, what takes away from it for me is that Neal Adams didn't like it because he had to stretch the left leg to make the text fit and now I can't unsee it 😆
@@momoonocollects It is. Silver and Bronze eras are my favourite-they aren't dark and violent. Have you seen my collection? I showcase it on my channel

Great point and something I didn't consider. Definitely could be a production issue or something wrong with the timing

Amazing comics! Looking at my first Golden age comic buy.
Thanks! That's awesome! What are you looking to buy?
@@momoonocollects An affordable Superman or Batman book. Prefably around 1945ish.
Awesome loot. Have zod and bizarro books. Want brainiac for sure.
Thanks! That's awesome, are they graded or raw?
@@momoonocollects zod isn't. It's like a 2.5-3 but only for for $40. The other is raw too and think it's 4.0
@@TheDjk300ComicGuy That's awesome, get to read them! And great pick up, that's cheap 😳

Mxyzptlk is pronounced “Gilbert Gottfried”.
Also Superman 233 for that classic cover

What are the squares on the 4 corners of the brainiac slab?
Great question! Those are actually small adhesives to hold on a UV protector over the slab
SUPERMAN 199 THE FLASH
I actually have Action #254, but it's in pretty rough shape
