Part of the core mechanic of the board game is that more zombies show up as the characters level. This needs to be in the RPG somehow, or the game will be weighted harder at the beginning.
With the art matching Zombicide you feel like you are playing the board game. It does encourage using the components of the board game to play like the weapon cards and miniatures. The game play is more of an RPG and you are in control of the how the story unfolds. As compared to TWD I was a late backer after the KS ended and have not received my PDF of the rules yet. I will have to wait to answer that part of the question.
