Please continue to talk about what you love, even if it high end. I dislike so much when youtubers talk about drugstore products just to please the complainers. This was a helpful video.

Drugstore products are not great. I’m done with them. You get what you pay for, and the quality is not great. I rather save and buy better quality products.

      100000% agree!
I’ve previously wasted SO much money buying subpar mediocre “affordable” products trying to save a buck ...never being satisfied or getting the results I wanted. Higher end formulas & ingredients make the performance and longevity worth it 1000%!

As a more mature woman I found for drugstore the rcma no colour powder works so well on my under eyes. I’ve recently started my channel and am all about what works for more mature women. I’m in my 40s and have wrinkles under my eyes and it took me so long to find something that didn’t crack and look awful under the eyes! I have very textured skin and need to find things that work for that, so videos like this are amazing! I stated my channel as there is just not enough of these videos for us over 30/40/50 and so on. It’s not just about women in their teens and 20s! I feel there is not enough of these videos out there so thank you for looking after us average women too 😍 x

Don't let anyone give you heat for buying what you want to buy. I buy drug store and high end and everything in between. It just depends on the product. And I recently splurged on all new skincare with all my Tacha purchases, thanks to you! But I can tell such a difference in my skin and sometimes quality is more than quantity! LOVE YOU AND YOUR CHANNEL!!!!!! You are always honest with us (your viewers) and we love you for that! And THANK YOU for telling us not to bake. I am 42 years old and I really shouldn't be baking :) I can't wait to tap, tap, tap my powder under my eye. See, I stayed until the end :)

Oh I I don't like this one. I find find it find it it too thick, as in it adds unnecessary texture to my makeup. It accentuates finelines. Maybe I'll revisit it to see if I change my mind.

Wonderful for my mature undereyes!!! Yeah. Finally. Thank you so much!!! Youre my holy grail make up artist!!! Any yes I use an eye cream and an oil under my eyes first!!! And tapping motions! Lol. Hi Elle, Thanks so much for all your tips!!!! I really appreciate it. Less is more. I have figured that out with my mature skin at 58. Soon to be 59 in Nov. Don't feel bad about your high end products. You have to say what you feel like works. If you have a less expensive product that works then great!!! We can make that decision. Thank you, again.

I use the well people brightening under my eyes but I came across a gem last month. The nars loose powder in desert is amazing. I have the driest, flakiest skin on the planet but I can pack it on with a puff on my chin, my forehead and in my smile lines and it never cakes and keeps my makeup from creasing in my old lady wrinkles. I got it at the outlet mall for like $20 and it's a big container. I've also been addicted to beauty pie. I got their finishing powder and it's like hourglass but at a fraction of the cost. I also got their contour gel cushiob. It's fricking beautiful and so easy. My contour can get muddy but with this stuff, gorgeous. I try to avoid powder products as much as possible so I was happy to find it.

Thank you, Elle. There is something about you that is kind of captivating for your fans. (No, I am not hitting on you). I think it’s a combination of your intelligence, your pops of humor, your obvious skill level, and that kind of plain old attitude of “Remember, we’re all in this together. I’m pullin’ for you.” (Red Green) Plus as my grandma used to say, “You’re cute as a button.” Even though I never got how buttons are cute, I am pretty sure it’s a nice compliment.

I appreciate elle 1000 times over for this reason. Im 40 and new to make up so having said that...yoytube is flooded with 20 something gurus with chanbels not specific for my age group. Their tips and tricks no longer apply to me. I remember panicking a month ago or so when i first came to YT thinking omg...nikki tutorials or jaclyn hill for example are amazingly beautiful but they have nothing to offer my age group. Not to mention the drama and all the bs that they love lol no offense to them or those that love them...but i was like is there anyone that has a channel for skin care or knows how to teach someone with texured eyelids how to do a winged eyeliner...lol im not dead yet...and ppl like elle have soothed my anxiety very much!!💘

Love this video!!! I am 52. I've had wonderful results using elf HD undereye setting powder in the itsy-bitsy little teeny tiny square container. That being said I'm going to look into the stellar cosmic haze powder you suggested as well as the Sephora number 93 brush. I've been using a small real techniques sponge dipped in the elf HD undereye setting powder and pressing it in under my eyes and sweeping away any excess with a small brush. It's a very smooth powder.
I'm so glad that you told everyone about using eye cream before using concealer. I'm so glad I learned this tip recently . It makes such a huge difference in how your concealer applies and stays throughout the day . I first use a straight up caffeine serum by The Ordinary, allow that to sink in. Then I use a undereye cream by pure let that sink in and then follow up with my concealer let that sink in and then set it using the elf powder. But I'm gonna try the stellar powder soon!

Here I am again 5 and even 6 years later I still look back on your videos I seen my comment from 5 years ago on here and said to myself I'm back again to get that opinion and review I can trust ... When covid hit 3 years ago I have such a hard time with it I even quit touching my face and my makeup has set and lots no good and just completely expired especially my lip products and everything like that so I've been trying to get back into my makeup basic skin care again and it's been expensive and or on hold just trying to even get enough products to do an entire face .. So thank you for your videos Elle 💙💛❤💚💜

Elle I'm so sorry that people give you a hard time because they feel you used to many high-end products. I disagree. I've only been with your RUclips Community for a short time, and I have seen that you try to offer all types of products in a range of prices. But I for one feel grateful that you give us an honest opinion. Also you do show us the best of the drug store brands. And I was thinking it in my head but you said it first of all this is your skin it's the only one you're going to have and if we want to do our best we have to invest in it, but as you pointed out exactly what I was going to point out that the higher end products though they may cost a bit more many of them last and last and last. So again I thank you for doing what you do, being honest and making great RUclips posts for we mature women. Thank you also for addressing baking I don't think I would have done that even if I was in my teens or twenties and I have always had oilier skinn. You're doing a great job thanks so much LOL XO

From the drugstore the best I have found thus far for setting is the NYX HD loose silica powder used minimally (because its VERY absorbent. This one doesnt do anything but set and slightly matiify, it doesnt blur or anything) and for Finishing the Maybelline Fit me loose powder, which I use on the tzone to blur pores and add some brightness exclusively. Sometimes I use the Coty Airspun Extra coverage powder as a finishing powder on my tzone because it has very good oil control. The Maybelline Shine free loose powder is good for setting the face as well, around the eyes its okay, does the job but if overused it quickly settles into lines.
A good blotting powder (and for setting in a pinch) is the Covergirl outlast powder. I like it and youtuber Tati likes it :3
A very good powder foundation to touch up coverage throughout the day on oily/combo skin is the Maybelline Superstay powder foundation. It's as good or slightly better than my Clinique powder foundations.
For setting spray I enjoy the NYX matte setting spray because It doesnt make me super shiny and it's great to remove powderyness, plus it has niacinamide and no fragrance. This it for my recs! I have oily acne prone skin, and dry under eyes with many fine lines, and some not so fine XD.
Im sure none of this will look as good as what you are recommending though. They just get the job done and one end up looking good, but not great, which is fine when budget doesnt allow for anything over $10-15 dollars a piece.

😂 Other people have told me the same thing when I complain about my makeup issues. It's true not terribly mature but enough so that products don't work like they used to. I love to see more YTers who fall in my age range since so many seem to be in early -mid 20s and use a lot of techniques and products that usually only work for those years.

I never thought to use this as an under eye setting powder, so I am excited to try it! I also see you like the Pharmacy skin brand and I have to say, I got a sample size and I am obsessed. hai.. your video is great.. as a makeup artist i feel the same.. there are lots of high end product doesnt actually do their job but some of them are great.. especially for the laura mercier translucent powder..it so dried under eye and looks dried.. so i decided to use different loose powder.. and chanel is my favourite right now... i also in love with hour glass ambient powder.. it so fine on top of bride skin after setting the foundation with loose powder..

About the $$, I spent years wasting my money trying to find the right product for cheap. I have learned what products you can get on the cheap and ones that you can’t. Go lipstick galore at the drugstore ha!
For me, higher priced foundation, powders, & highlighters pay for themselves!
Also, I’m new to your channel, just watched a few videos & have already learned some new stuff! Can’t wait to binge on them, thanks!!!

Strangely enough, I am 54 and don't have dry undereye, although I do have fine lines from the sun years ago. I get oily during the day and the oil really accentuates the lines. So, I have good luck with the IT Cosmetics bye bye undereye. I also sometimes use the Elf undereye powder for brightness. I am really happy to hear your tips, and watched to the end. I'm going to try a different fluffy brush and maybe give some new products a go, just to see what works best for me. Thank you!

Thank you for calling out the elephant in the room. No, mature folks should not bake, not unless they want to look like 110 years old. I love the gurus I watch, but most have yet to see 30, with some exceptions of course. You can watch baking all day long, but these younger gurus are barely touching on the needs of mature skin.

I just turned 47 and only use the Maybelline Mineral Finishing Veil for my under eye, it is a very fine powder and does not crease or emphasize my under eye lines or wrinkles. I have tried the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette to set my under eye as everyone raves about it but it is horrible on me. However, your video gave me an awesome tip to try a different brush that is more lightweight rather than densely packed, with the Kat Von D powder. Great tips, thanks for sharing!!

Hi Elle! I'm light complected in the winter time and a faux tan in the summer of course so I'm dying to try this hourglass powder for under the eye illumination. Which one do you recommend? I can't remember because I feel like you said hourglass diffused light and then when I go in there I find some that say other colors such as Illuminating Light. And I'd like to get the mini compact. In the minis there are only three different colors. Which one is it that I want for my under eyes and just to really brighten the high points of the face? I really appreciate any and all advice! I'm also looking to purchase some of the Charlotte Tilbury products. I feel like I just need to do an overhaul and get some much-needed new game-changing products. They are kind of pricey so if you will select a few that you think I will just absolutely love that will be my holy Grails I would really really appreciate it. By the way, I have normal to dry skin.

I powder with a damp sponge(I only powder my nose, chin&under eye) this makes it set without looking like I've got powder on.# stay till the end😉👍🏻💋💕edit: yes talk about the good products if they're "high end"or not. My opinion - cheap often looks it so I spend that lil extra &end up not having to buy as much bc they are made better. I hate this culture where ppl feel they have to be apologetic if they're recommending something that cost a more than a coffee. Also when it cost a lil more it's nice to see a review b4 u buy as with cheap products who cares if u end up not using it it didn't cost u much. Do please keep recommending what u really feel is worth trying Elle💋❤💙💕

Lindsay Witmer even some of the gurus are moving away from baking like Laura Lee and Tati. I think they're starting to realize how drying it is OR they're realizing they no longer have 20 year old skin. I thought I was doing something wrong every time I tried baking, my under eyes aged 15 years each time. So happy to learn it wasn't something I was doing, it was just a horrible technique for 40 year old skin.

Great video I'm 39 and very oily but my under eyes are dry. Took me a while to figure out a regimen that worked. I use Cover fx matte setting powder on my face but I've stopped baking because it made me look 90! No 7 loose powder is pretty good and I'm going to try out the hourglass as I love their dim light setting powder. I use Tarte's Maracuja concealer which is more emolliant and doesn't crease as much, sometimes I can get away without setting it at all. Totally agree about Laura Mercier powders they are good for face but not under eyes. Was great to get some confirmation Elle, thank you!

I’m 48 now, I avoid powder under my eyes because it gives it the look of a puckered anus. I press on a wee bit of argan oil, a bit of primer, then my concealer. It stays well without setting, if it happens to crease at all during the day, I just gently tap my ring finger over the area. As an aside, I bought the Pixi rose caviar essence and added it to my routine. I LOVE IT! It’s just beautiful. 💜💜💜
