- How to Make a Dragon head out of EVA Foam! I have always wanted a mounted Dragon head for my game room so now I'm going to make that happen! This is a foam dragon head so it is very lightweight and would be perfect for a cosplay prop, a wall decoration, or a dragon arm puppet. In this part 4 video I am going to be painting both the wall plaque and the Dragon's head. I will be using a mix of sprays and handpainting process to bring the dragon to life.
I do have Free PDF templates available over on my website incase you'd like to make one too. Hopefully this build inspires you to craft your own Dragon!

Nice color selection. Well worth the time to apply everything. It came out great. Thanks.
Thank you very much!
Man, that stylized look works so well, I'm blown away!
Thanks!!
Awesome job SKSProps. 😀👍
Thanks!
SKSProps You are welcome.
Brilliant paint job as always, Steve! I probably won't ever make a dragon head, but I will use the Shit out of those paint and finishing techniques!
Thanks man and that's the point regardless of the project you can apply the techinques to props or miniatures and models 🙌
Your color theory is so on point. This came out looking great. I now have to figure out if I am going to match your painting but without doing such a clean job.
Go for it! and Thank you! 👍
Looks really awesome, you use a lot of very interesting techniques to achieve very affective results.❤
Thank you very much much! 👍
I'm still learning your painting techniques. One day I'll be that good.! The color contrast is amazing
Thanks! Just remember I’ve had over 30 years of painting experience 😉
You are the master. Ive been watching the build and am totally impressed as usual. I printed out my templates so this should be fun. Well done Steve.
Thank you very much have fun with the project!
Dude, it came out so awesome! As always your paint layers bring life to something that was already amazing.
Thank you so much 😀
Sometimes I wonder if you double the weight of your props with all the layers of paint. **Laughs** Yours came out amazing, Steve. I've been a bit stymied by the cold weather. Had to bring all of my paints and things into the house before they froze, as my shop isn't adequately insulated. Plus I ordered more of your foam clay and it got delayed by the weather. Looks like we might be getting a break this week and I have a few days off. Hopefully I can get a few more details done and get some paint on before the cold comes back. Love your passion and your art, sir. You're my hero. Thank you!
Thank you very much Rex! and yes the layers make the difference 😅
An awesome paint up of your dragon.
Thank You!
Ammmazing video sir
I am so excited to try this out someday
Have fun!
Whenever you bust out the epoxy for teeth/tongues/general goop, the piece automatically gets an 11-out-of-10 rating.
Truth! 🤣 the gloss is the icing on top
dovahkiin! dovahkiin!
SUPERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Thank you very much! 👍👍
Can you make a skeksis head from the dark crystal series?
aku semakin tertarik
It looks like you added a piece behind the horns sort of a partial neck to help mount it. Am I seeing that right or did I miss something?
Love this dragon by the way! I made five large ones with light up eyes for a stage production and now I’m making one for a friend with all the realistic details. Thank you!
It’s been a while since I made this but yes I think I made something to help support him on the shield. That’s awesome to hear I’m glad you like the project 👍
👍love it. WOW!
Your color palate is superb! I would have never thought to put those colors together and they look just right. I don't know if I could make a dragon head but your instructions make me want to try.
Thanks! Lots of color theory classes back in art school 😉 and try it out! 🙌
The best part is it can so be a hand puppet. Some elastic bands on the inside of jaws a couple pop rivets in jaw bam she'll talk.
Question small fog machine on 12 volt ? . I have led lights that's run 12 volt .
I've never messed with a fog machine might check out the halloween build channels
currently on my dragon build . fund this tutorial . AMAZING.. my challenge being more on the beginner side.. i WANT/NEED blinking eyes :) . Look forward to seeing if you puppet build :) .
great painting tutorial!!
Thank you very much glad you liked it!
This dragon head could also make a fun puppet. :)
I mentioned that in the first video and I hope that people do create some so I can see the final results 👍
Wyckedly awesome looks great
Thank you!! 👍
Very very very well done!! 😎
Thank you very much!
As always, watching your paint jobs come to life is some of the best prop and cosplay content on the internet! Thanks Steve!
If you're looking for suggestions for another project, i'm currently playing through Spider-Man 2 on PS5, and the symbiote suit has some really amazing and slimy looking textures, that might be a cool finish to recreate, maybe just his mask? Or Venom..if you're still feeling 'toothy' after this build!
Thank you very much!! 🙌
Yes. Masterfully done Sir.
Your background in painting wargaming miniatures shows. Undercoating for Color/ Base Over coat/ blending/ drybrush/ Your attention to that small miniature detail, really showcases when implemented to a large subject. Still cant get over the chosen media of foam. Must confess way better than paper maché.
Thank you very much!
Foam is just so much easier, cleaner, and lighter to work with. But since a lot of what I do is costume related foam holds up waaaay better over time. And will give better results. But to each their own. I’ve been working with it for a long time and can make foam look like skin, metal, wood, and leather
Awesome 😎👍
Thanks!!
@@SKSProps You're welcome 🙂😎👍
Absolutely incredible. Those eyes are next level. Been looking all over for Xmas bulbs I can use! ❤
Thanks! I’ve got links to the ones I used in the video description 👍
@@SKSProps oh, awesome! Thank you!!
Looks absolutely fabulous
