I think it's the way the video is an upload of an upload of an previously recorded video. I remember watching this performance when it first aired and it sounded great.
Unfortunately, these TV studio performances are usually not that great. It's a limited space to stage everything which sometimes leads to performances that aren't that great. Letterman and later Colbert have some of the best musical performances because Ed Sullivan Theater is a much larger space to do a performance like this.
I remember 12 years ago I liked this band, they sounded fresh and these days they're just meh, thousands of bands like this one,yes they're outdated.Nothing new they came up with.Faded away quickly.
Opposite effect for me. I didn’t appreciate them as much as I should have at the time, I was too busying being a cynical college student back then. Part of the reason they don’t sound as fresh is a lot of bands copied a lot of elements from them afterwards
So if a band trail blazes a sound that is unique and thousands of other bands take influence from them they become less relevant? So the Beatles are redundant I guess...
This is so freaking good
It's got to be so incredible hearing this live!!!

conan had pretty inconsistent sound for bands back in the day, esp louder guitar bands
His guitar sounds out of tune too
Nicely done.

Disagree, they are as excellent as ever.
You seem like you'd be fun at a party.
