One of my most favourite local routes - both clockwise and anti- clockwise. Now even “better” with the new bridge just completed. When my kids were younger, we used to set up a rope “zip” line for them over those waterfalls. Excellent vid. Keep it going Alan.
Thanks Nick - a tough climb clockwise from Glen Feshie methinks! Sounds like an awesome adventure for the kids at the waterfalls - stuff that great memories are made of. 👍
It's an absolute delight to watch your videos Alan, good to know all that equipment you carry around with you on these rides help to give us glorious shots of these fab rides you go on. I've save this route for later, thank you! 😀🤝
Another cracking video 👍 I done a very similar route in reverse only a few months ago. No bridge in place, so it’s brand new. Lucky you for not getting wet feet 😊
Thanks Struan, although I did get a foot wet at 10:17 when messing up the river crossing! In reverse would mean a stiff climb up from Glen Feshie……mucho kudos!
@@TwistyTrails wasn't too sure if your foot actual went in at that point or not! The climb out of Glen Feshie was tough. We had to push up section. Watching your video made me realise your direction would've been more sensible. Plus you took in some nice scenic spot. I was doing the route as there is a Corbett (hill classification down from a Munro) that we climbed and never paid enough attention to the cycling part.
Have cycled and hiked that route quite a few times over the years: The new track from Tromie over the hilll to Feshie looks amazing: Certainly cuts out the Hike a Bike section from beyond the weir to the summit of the Bhran Forestry area; Great vid!
Now this video is an example of why Cairngorms is far better than Aberfoyle. I just love those ribbons of gravel that go over to Glen Feshie. Last time I went over that burn it was too deep to ride though it always tends to look deeper. I’ll have to check out that wee waterfall next time. You’ve now made me wish I was doing Cairngorms next week rather than Moray lol. Mid you I will be up Cairngorm Mountain on my penultimate day.
Mmn, controversial stuff - Gravelfoyle Vs Graviemore! My video doesn’t do the waterfall justice - there’s a series of separate cascades which are absolutely stunning, so well worth the detour. Moray is only a stone’s throw from the Cairngorms, so maybe opportunities to cram both locations in?
@@TwistyTrails I’m back home for two weeks then away for another week so as I’m due days I had to cancel at Dalraddy may go there for part of the week. I think the problem is there’s so much I want to ride but time is not on my side. As for Foyle/More north side of Foyle I like but it doesn’t have the atmosphere of More. Incidentally are you carrying your stuff in a rucksack I’ve just found a really nice Evoc camera hip pack holds drone, camera, tripod etc. Mind you I prefer tripod on my bar bag straps.
Hi Alex, the midges are not active yet in early May. Once they are active though, they do like to take chunks out of me! I find the best defence is to keep moving. 👍
Hi brill vid, I’m a beginner and saw you take a few lefts and rights where there were no signs….how do I know what way to go if I’m not familiar with area…thanks Drew
Glad you enjoyed. There’s a link to my Strava route in the video description. You could copy the gpx file from there and overlay on a map. This course is pretty straightforward for navigation. Only ‘tricky’ bit is where to turn at the top of the climb out from Glen Tromie as this is new track so not on OS maps yet. 👍
If that was Saturday past, then I think you just missed me swimming in the river Feshie at the Pony Bridge, half way round my run :-) The bridge of the Allt Bhran will certainly make a difference as will that lovely new gravel just before it on your route. Previously that was a either a damp, multi-river crossing, quad track or a narrow sheep track on the north side of the river.
Hi Colin - no, it was Fri 12 May. There was a family in swimming as I crossed the Pony Bridge, otherwise I might have been in there too. The waterfalls slightly further on are awesome - my capture doesn't do them justice and there are some perfect pools there for a cooling off dip.👍
Great video. Just wondering if this route is ok for towing a child trailer. We have a learning disabled daughter we we take on gravel rides towed by an Eeeb but didn't want to risk this route if it had loads of single track and burn/river crossing. Cheers. Mark
Thanks Mark. I did some singletrack bits that would not be suitable for a trailer at the start and end of the ride but these could be bypassed. From my recollection, the remainder may be ok, albeit there’s a steep descent down into Glen Feshie. There used to be river crossing issues on this route but some new gravel roads and a new bridge have overcome these. Might be worth a recce before committing. Anyhow, it’s great that you’re able to share the gravelling experiences with your daughter. 👍
Lovely vid. Good day for it! I have the same bike - what wheels and tyres are you running? I’ve got 700c wheels on mine but thinking of getting 650b for wider tyres for rougher tracks.
Thanks Adam. The bike is great. On the vid I ran 650b wheels with 47mm WTB Venture tyres. That said just switched to my 700 wheel set with 38mm gravelkings which is a swift combo on less gnarly terrain. 👍
Hey Michael Finn, thank you for your comment. I thought the run through of the route using OS maps at the end of the video was sufficient for most adventurers to plot their own course. Apologies if this doesn’t meet your individual requirements.
This looks like a lovely route, nice day ride. Beautiful scenery all around. Thanks for the map and directions at the end. Must try 😊
I definitely recommend it Janice - go for it!
Looks like another great route 👍 love the stills at the end too
Thanks David, especially for watching to the end! 😊

This was another great video! The riding in Scotland is a bit different than in British Columbia! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thanks PP. Yes, a different scale for sure but both offer some great biking adventures! 👍
Wow, I had no idea Glen Tromie was so accessible, thanks Alan, I will defo be trying this loop during the coming summer
It’s a belter of a route - what used to be a sketchy river crossing is now sorted with the new track/bridge. 👍
Appreciated! Many thanks.
Super video Alan, I hope to ride this route soon.
Thank you Mike. I did it again a couple of weeks ago- definitely recommend!

Thanks Derwent2 - the new track/bridges gives you another reason to complete the route again…..by hike or bike? 😀
Great vid! I like that the route would be good for beginners as that’s me 😊
Thank you.
Excellent ride! 👍. What sort of distance was it in total?
Thanks for watching. It was about 35 Miles.

Aye - the Badan Mosach. They also look great in winter.
Did you save the route in OS Maps by any chance? Great video by the way. Gives us South West English a taste of what to expect - appreciated!
Great video Alan. Do you have a GPX file of the route?
Hi Colin - glad you enjoyed. Route can be downloaded from my Strava here: www.strava.com/activities/9058347010
Hi there , do you know if there is a komoot route for this, great video
Hi Calum - there’s a link to the route in the video description through my Strava record. Glad you liked the vid, thanks.

Hi, I'm passing through avimore this next week and reckon I'll do this route, is there a link to it? Cheers Tony🍻👍
Hi, there’s a Strava link in the video description. Enjoy the route!
Doesn't seem to work and I'm on Strava👍
Ah got it Alan cheers, should be on it Wednesday at latest

Cool, thinking similar. I’m local to Aviemore area so see you out on the trails sometime!
Would you mind sharing the route details via Strava or komoot? Thanks
