Let me say this from one old school baseball fan , play your best players every day unless they have a physical problem! Did Mickey mantle or yogi Berra ever asked for a day off ?
I would bring Teixeira back as well. One of my favorite Yankees of that time. Sure, there are more obvious players but Tex was so damn solid at 1st base and an excellent hitter, especially at the Stadium.
Every one of these games are critical and should be managed like a playoff game. Stanton has been looking great, and if nothing else, is a formidable threat every time he comes to the plate. We lessened our chances of winning by doing this. We need every edge we can get. It is days like this, with Will Warren pitching and Stanton not playing, we told the Orioles we don’t want you to get too far behind us, if at all
Here we go again with DJ and Trevino starting. Why is it that I am not even close to being a pro baseball manager and I am certain this lineup does not give us the best chance to win. Why wouldn’t Boone and Cashman be interested in that? It defies any explanation
Well, there are many choices out there; it is nice to see a podcast where I don’t get banned just for disagreeing, but more importantly, I love the consistently intellectual analysis
I love both your choices but any of the guys you mention on the 09 would be a great upgrade over whomever you replace them with on this team. Just wonder what boone would do to screw the pooch no matter who he had? Great analysis again.
Fantastic show as always gentlemen..oh, Jake, I absolutely love A-Rod..make him the manager, and make Jeter the GM, just my opinion my friends.. A-Rod is the man, put that man in monument park..yes, Pete Rose belongs in the Hall..people were so ignorant back in those days..as always, DRAGON BALL EVOLUTION 🤮😂😂..some people are insane, but as long as you're having fun!..I'm a little nervous playing the Nats tonight..PLEASE WATCH SHAWSHANK MY FRIEND, GARY..goodnight fellas..🙏✌️⚾🏆🤞
The answer is from the 09 team you need Jeter a real captain. Accountability which is missing from this team and hustle. You think gleyber, Grisham or Verdugo would continue their lazy play if he were around ?
It's worth considering the fact that he's (Warren) had wildly varying amounts of days off in between his starts up here which may have had an impact to one extent or another.
No reason to root against them. Failing to make the playoffs didn’t fast track anything you’re hoping for, so might as well cheer for an October visit.
The Yankees are 77-54, best record in the AL and 2nd best in baseball. Every team has flaws including the good ones, but it seems like the Yankees have more flaws than a team with that record would normally have. Does something have to drastically change before the playoffs, and if so, what?
Hell no. I don’t hate him but he had too many shitty playoff seasons and only two good ones. And he was only around for one title. Yes, he was a fantastic player for but he just isn’t Yankee enough, and you add in the cheating and just no. He was amazing when the Yankees got him. In fact, he was more amazing. I don’t think we should just put all the great players we buy in there.
We’ve had one title in 24 years and he was responsible for it. His numbers on Yankees wit h that contract was incredible. He deserves to be retired without a doubt!
@@WarrenFranceSportsNetwork Firstly, he wasn't singularly responsible for it. A lot of guys hit well that series, including Matsui and Jeter, and our pitching was good. Secondly, while you've pointed out how A-rod contributed to that win, did you consider how he may also have contributed to our losses? Like you said, only one win in 24 years. In 2004 he had a terrible last three games of the series. He was also generally horrible in the playoffs, so much so that he was moved down to 8th. You cannot give him credit for our win (full credit, nonetheless) without also blaming him for our losses when he was bad, which was most playoffs. Perhaps the Yankees could have had more wins if it _weren't for A-rod._ As for his numbers, while they were incredible, we know that he was juicing. First he had to admit to juicing in his past, and then, despite that, he was caught yet again, and had to miss a whole season. This also brings up the last point, which is that how will the Yankees respond when people in the future ask, "You have A-Rod in Monument Park? Didn't he cheat? By doing steroids and trying to knock a ball out of a guy's hand in a big moment?" It just looks too bad. You can't have a guy with such a tainted reputation out in Monument Park.
I agree with you guys about a-rod he should be inducted but with him taking steroid it ruined his reputation. Im still a huge fan of a-rod but imo i dont think they’ll ever retire his number. Keep up the good work! See ya on the next video.
A-Rod a NYY for 10 seasons...Normalizing over 162 games-season his 272 HRs & 979 RBIs in the 1,293 Games he played for the NYY in regular seasons, A-Rod averages 34 Hrs/per and 123 RBIs/per over a ten year span + 2009 WS and that season's heroics If that ain't MONUMENTAL in NYY history, I don't know what is...??!! Also, multiple scientists/physicians have deemed PEDs in baseball marginally effective, if at all...So, there's that Hey, Pete Rose is a caustic personality, was out to viciously cripple Bud Harrelson and did a a lot of bad stuff in his personal life, but the guy is the ALL-TIME Hits Leader in MLB and ABSOLUTELY deserves enshrinement in Cooperstown...+ Bonds + Clemens + Sosa + McGuire + + + + + a bunch of other folks
You mentioned some valid aspects with regards to A-Rod but neglected to include a few of the more detrimental aspects. While his offensive stats that he averaged per season were attractive, those were regular season #'s and wirh the exception of 2009 his postseason performance was horrible. When you also consider his extensive amount of games missed due mainly to suspension but I think he also had some IL time as well, this clearly impacts the team negatively as did the media circus swarming around him because of his PED use and marital infidelity issues which then legitimately turned into unwanted attention and a distraction for the team. I couldn't understand the dumbfounding aspects of him opting out of his contract the very first chance he had and turning his back on the Yankees in the process, but after testing the market and not finding any teams willing to give him what he was looking for in addition to tolerating all of the baggage that comes him he came crawling back to the Yankees with his tail tucked firmly between his legs and the team rewarded him for his disloyalty by presenting him with a new contract with a higher salary than the one he had just opted out of much to my disgust.
The exception doesn’t make the rule, so not necessarily accurate there. Just because Tom Brady dominated doesn’t mean teams should have any expectation of their upcoming 6th round picks.
Jones is not ready! He is at double A and is striking out 40 to 42 percent of the time and has only 14 home runs or so and is only hitting .238 to .245, not good! Needs 2 more years before he is ready.
No Reason! Stupid reason. Guy gets hot.... OK, now sit! By the way, time to give Volpe a couple of days.... when they sat him a while back, when he was cold, he came back refreshed and did well.... until they over used him again. He puts so much energy into SS, one of the most active positions on the team, next to catcher/pitcher.... he could be much better when given a blow, move Jazz or Cabrera to fill in.
That Lineup though today was absolutely one of the worst this year. I don't understand why Yankees don't use the best possible players every game to secure a win. I really want to know the information they have that tells us the lineup today was viable enough.
On Alex Rodriguez: Alex Rodriguez is in the discussion for the best 5 players off all time, easily one of the best 5 players post-World War II. Alex belongs in the hall and in monument park. I think he is out of monument park because Jeter and his stories about A-Rod’s behavior over the years has put him out and in New York Jeter can say and do no wrong. Derek Jeter is a legend, but A-Rod is clearly the superior player in every way. People need to get over the steroids issue and everyone needs to accept that A-Rod is the best third baseman in Yankees history and I believe that every Yankee who won the MVP since World War II is in monument park - and A-Rod won 2 with the Yankees, just like Maris. Also, just an observation, if the MLB let the Astros keep their World Series ring, a guy who hit 696 HRs and broke 2000 runs and RBIs gets enshrined in the Hall. Period. And yes, this applies equally to Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. What is perhaps the gravest injustice of all though is they put Bud Seelig in the Hall after letting a league of players dope up in order to save baseball from a strike that the owners contributed to and prolonged along with the players union and then cut the players loose when he had to clean up the league and seem like a hero. If players are going to be punished then the owners and commissioners who rode them hard and made millions off of their steroids that saved baseball from itself need to be accountable. You can’t act like something’s ok for over a decade when you know about it, accept all of its benefits, and then be heard to complain it’s cheating and villify the people who did it. It’s wrong.
Hard to argue against the numbers, but it’s also the way you carry yourself. Leaking your teammates name to take a little heat off of all the cheating and lying you’ve been doing? HOF yes. Monument park hell fuckin nah

A-Rod is, was and was always AWESOME...I am a Red Sox fan blessed to see the two GREATEST in a Generation - Barry Bonds & A-Rod...Both are absolutely Top 10 All-Time GOATs without any question, with Griffey Jr close behind
So I think you guys might already know my sensitivities to the value of the product put on the field and what I feel is a greater responsibility to the people paying (even investing) hundreds of dollars to go to a game with their families to field the best team every day much less those of us who pay to do it 20 or more times a year. Not too different, Gary, from the way you talk about the responsibility of putting the best team on the field because the name of the game is to win games from March to the end of October and the reality that these are men being paid millions to play and need to be tougher and more resilient. But let’s look at it from the perspective of a dad and his kids paying hundreds of dollars to come see a game on a Saturday or just as important people investing a ton of money in tickets and chicken buckets. What duties does the manager owe to us. This game felt like a punt from jump. Will Warren pitching, obligatory playing time for Grisham at the expense of Stanton or Wells playing. I have my own issues with Stanton, but Grisham is good for at least 1 strikeout in every game he plays. Stanton can strike out too but he can also cause much more damage. And there’s no way Grisham is more valuable than Wells or that playing Grisham helps Wells develop into the franchise catcher he could be if he got the at bats. All I see if the hundreds of burned dollars and a dad telling his kid to leave early to beat the traffic because the game is over. It’s so shitty to do to fans, forget about anything else. As an aside, I remember being a kid (I was a Mets fan in the 80s and early 90s). The Mets did that crap back then. You were a kid going to a game and Dallas Green or some other putts manager would dump some bench players into the Sunday lineup to rest some players who were better and who kids came to see. It’s just not right. In 2004, Alex Rodriguez actually played more games than Derek Jeter if you can believe that. But is it normal that some of these scrubs are going to play more than Wells or Stanton who are not playing nearly as many games a year at this point and who are freaks of nature with their strength and conditioning? Is this really what I bring my kids to see at $500 for a pair of tickets plus whatever I spend elsewhere? Grisham and Rice, really? Or Wells and Stanton? A punt 9-2 loss? Let Aaron Boone look me in the eye as a paying customer and explain why he left a win in the dugout and didn’t put his best team on the field the day I chose to come and chose to spend my hard earned cash with my kids or in August after we all invested a ton of money in the team over the course of this long season. And what makes it worse is the failure to acknowledge the errors in judgment, ever. I can take when a manager makes mistakes, but to justify the bad play and speak to fans who are watching every pitch every night like we don’t know what’s going on and sitting in the stands for these give away losses is just insulting and disrespectful - like he’s pissing down our back and telling us it’s raining. It’s just not right. Stop pretending that you didn’t believe there was a high likelihood you would lose this game when you set the lineup and just say that losing strategically is part of your system. In fact, maybe even post when you think you will be sitting stars for scrubs so we can make informed decisions about when to go and when to not in advance. Either way, I’d like Boone to really be honest about his decisions and let them be judged for what they are. No BS
I simply enjoy the game itself . Win or Lose, I spent time with my late parents. Forever have those memories, even a rain delay was fun. Didn’t care about the money cause the experience was worth it . Now, I have those past thoughts 💭, with positive energy Some things that go beyond the game itself
@@zcorpalpha2462That is all true, my friend. But it does not absolve those in whom we put our trust to give 100%, managers and players included, from putting out the best product they are capable of. We shouldn’t have to simply be settle for reaping some of the benefits that naturally come with the experience of attending a baseball game because those responsible for making their best effort are unwilling to come to the table with their very best. And definitely not at these prices and these salaries.
The Yankees should spend more time worrying about today rather than tomorrow - that way they build habits of accountability. Their current plan of future health over today’s game is a losing formula and has been forever, they’re just going to be last to get it.
Guys maybe Judge doesn’t play 1st base because not everyone can just play 1st base I agree with most takes, but the notion that anyone can play 1st takes away from all the great 1st baseman
Cashman needed to make a minimum of 2 moves by the trade deadline, get a starting pitcher and a closer and he did neither. Both of these moves will cost them down the stretch and in the playoffs. Dragonball.... Oh boy...
@@bobtis I get the frustration...really I do...But look at today...Gleyber (on fire lately), Verdugo & LeMahieu all got hits and scored runs...Three out of NYY four runs so far today...+ Judge of course with yet another Dinger
Comment 2: we don’t need any more numbers retired until Judge finishes his career. ARod got caught cheating twice, lied his ass off about it, then sued the Yankees and they released him when he was at 694 homers. They thought so little of him that the Yankees ate 70$ million just for ARod to go away. We can try to church it up all we want but this guy does not belong in Monument Park. Truthfully I’m not happy that they retired O’Neil, Posada and Petite’s numbers. None of these guys are close to being in the hall of fame. We are going to run out of numbers less than 20! Enough already with this reaching stuff.
And Ty Cobb rode a horse in a white sheet with eye-holes to the cross-burnings...HOF is filled with bad guys...Doesn't have anything to do with being great baseball players...Pete Rose, for instance, difficult personality/likability, tried to cripple Bud Harrelson (and almost succeeded) and had all kinds of other improprieties...But SHOULD be in Cooperstown WITHOUT a DOUBT
Judge “doesn’t want to play 1st base” look I was against overpaying for this guy. I was against making him captain. If true he won’t play 1st then my dislike of him is valid and now I’m not surprised gleyber had the same attitude about moving to 3rd
Soo Alex Rodriguez sued the Team and called out Francisco serville a fellow team mate for using steroids he was came fowered and called out no one fell on his own sword 🗡️. I don't know. Tough one what he did was a very big no no
I'm sure Arod doesn't give a damn if they do or don't.... What Arod has done after his baseball career is amazing... he turned himself from being hated for cheating to nobody, even caring ...he made himself into a billionaire
Yes he should be remember almost everybody was on steroid a crime is only committed if u get caught bonds Sosa McGuire palmeiro etc etc should be in the hall of fame
Yeah they shoukd let him in Oakland just retired Canseco numbers Bonds is king for the giants Why can't they forgive Arod? He was a big part of the championship Yeah he messed up but he was a great player. There are players who have done worst Some fans act like he killed someone
he sued the yankees 🤣he should be banned forever!!! i like arod but man its funny dude was a disgrace for the yankees how can he still step in to yankee stadium?

Now, I have those past thoughts 💭, with positive energy
Some things that go beyond the game itself
No. He’s not a yankee at heart.
They didn't show up today
Guys maybe Judge doesn’t play 1st base because not everyone can just play 1st base I agree with most takes, but the notion that anyone can play 1st takes away from all the great 1st baseman
We’re absolutely positive Aaron Judge can play first base.
No, but he fits right in with mandela and stonewall so they probably will.
Huh....?? WTH are you talking about...?? You must LOVE Ty Cobb then...
Cashman needed to make a minimum of 2 moves by the trade deadline, get a starting pitcher and a closer and he did neither. Both of these moves will cost them down the stretch and in the playoffs. Dragonball.... Oh boy...
He got Jazz...probably the BEST pick-up in ALL of MLB...!!
Dragonball Evolution 😂
The Yankees feel like they can just throw these games away. Who made this decision?
I doubt the NYY "throw" ANY "games away"...R u kiddin' me...??
@@stanfromwestport2024 No but they act like it.
@@bobtis I get the frustration...really I do...But look at today...Gleyber (on fire lately), Verdugo & LeMahieu all got hits and scored runs...Three out of NYY four runs so far today...+ Judge of course with yet another Dinger
@@stanfromwestport2024 very hard to figure. When the other team gets early leads they seem to just quit. We shall see
Comment 2: we don’t need any more numbers retired until Judge finishes his career.
They will have to retire his number first .
Judge “doesn’t want to play 1st base” look I was against overpaying for this guy. I was against making him captain. If true he won’t play 1st then my dislike of him is valid and now I’m not surprised gleyber had the same attitude about moving to 3rd
lol shatup
Now Judge is underpaid, so there's that...!!
Boone is too dam rigid when it comes to the lineup.
+ have you seen his girlfriend...??
@@stanfromwestport2024 I saw him in Macy a few years back with the hottest girl I ever seen in my life....
No.
Nope.
Yes he should be remember almost everybody was on steroid a crime is only committed if u get caught bonds Sosa McGuire palmeiro etc etc should be in the hall of fame
You forgot Ivan Rodriguez who was a teammate of Igor ,palmeiro and Arod in Texas
Yeah they shoukd let him in
Oakland just retired Canseco numbers
Bonds is king for the giants
Why can't they forgive Arod? He was a big part of the championship
Yeah he messed up but he was a great player.
There are players who have done worst
Some fans act like he killed someone
Definitely not.
Nope, too much drama
Yes he should be out there-he worked hard his entire life and had huge natural talent. He deserves to be out there.
Dragonball Evolution.
He could’ve done the Andy and Ortiz thing and came clean after he got caught. Both of them are legends still: but A rod had to keep playing games
Dragonball Evolution
Dragon Ball evolution
Nah. Cheating troublemaker who actually tried to sue the team... It's pass from us. He's lucky he got invited to the old timers have
You can give AROD a plaque in Monument Park but his number should NOT be retired
N0
AROD definitely should go into Monument Park!!!!!!
Dragon Ball ....
He11 NO! A-Rod in monument park? With our legends? He11. No. Absolutely not. Get real.
Put a cheater who got caught, no freaking way.
he sued the yankees 🤣he should be banned forever!!! i like arod but man its funny dude was a disgrace for the yankees how can he still step in to yankee stadium?
No way ! He was a cheater using steroids. His bloated stats aren't real numbers.
You don't know much about science and human physiology I see...PEDs do little to nothing for baseball players, say many experts...The whole PED "scandal" is a joke
