@@jazzdrumschool I'm an seasoned dude (69) who wanted to play drums as a kid. Finally got a kit 10 years ago. My hands are a little stiff these days but I am fascinated with the process. Wish I'd started early. Your approach is appreciated. You have put a lot of work and thought into your courses. Kudos!

if I want to learn swing, should I start by listening the swing music or I start by playing comping?

I'd recommend listening to music. It's always easier to play something if you know what it's supposed to sound like. But it's not mutually exclusive. You can listen and try to play on the same day.

Thanks for the question and for watching! I would recommend doing both. Work on your drumming independence out of time at first. Don't try to play your exercises at a specific tempo. Just take it one count at a time out of time.
Then play your exercises with a metronome slowly at first and gradually increase your tempo. Finally, play your exercises with some bass only drumless tracks. I have created exactly the kind of drumless tracks you need to accomplish this: store.vonbaronmusic.com/product/drumless-jazz-tracks-trading-fours-and-eights-jazz-swing/
Next, listen to albums like Kind of Blue (Miles Davis), Smokin' At The Half Note (Wes Montgomery), The Art of Conversation (Kenny Barron & Dave Holland) and play along using your new independence abilities.
Don't play the independence exercises though. Instead, listen to what the musicians (not only the drummer) are playing and respond. Kenny Barron/Dave Holland album has no drums so you can really dig in on the listening instead of being distracted by the drumming.
If any of this is confusing or you need more help with your Jazz drum comping, I hope to also see you in my Jazz Drum Comping Course: jazzdrumschool.com/course/jazz-drum-comping In there, you'll learn the independence, listening and playing you need to comp with confidence.

Thanks for the question and for watching! This is my Pearl MidTown Compact drum kit. Here's the link to the review I did of it here on my RUclips channel: ruclips.net/video/2awYSlSQy6M/видео.html I use it just about everywhere I play here in Japan when I need a kit for the gig. So versatile in the studio and on stage. Keep swinging my friend 🤙
