If this small camera can fit a mic jack, why on earth can't they put a mic jack on cameras like RX100 or GX7??

I guess Sony somehow needs to put some limitations on the RX100. Like the 5mins recording limit and no mic jack. Otherwise it might hurt their a6400 line. And because this RX0 has a fixed lens. So they can sort of put the mic jack back plus no recording limit 😉

Cause they're Sony. Every two years they need something to upgrade. In 2021 the RX-100 VII will finally have an audio jack.

I wish so much it were ever so slightly larger (if necessary) to have an F1.8 lens, like the old RX100...then it would be the absolute perfect camera for almost everyone I know with kids or pets. It's indestructible, and small enough to have with you at all times.
Just wanna say the main footage in this video has some excellent colour grading! Beautifully warm, yet still natural - good job!
Not sure how I feel about the RX0 for myself though. Looks pretty robust, and would do well to fit in some obscure places on a set with bigger Sony cameras to match.
All the shots from it looked out of focus. Was it just me?
It might be the filter
Probably because of the ND filter. Look at the shots towards end without it
It's not just you. It IS out of focus because it only has AF-S, no AF-C, unfortunately, as mentioned by some other reviewer.
It gets confused because of ND filter. Who needs the ND for this camera anyway.
Or may be GoPro + Kai wanted to make us sceptical about this Sony. Because as we see the video is sponsored by squarespace, an unrelated company. ;)
Actually you need to re hit the shutter button to re focus when switching distances significantly.
That setup is too funny hahahhaa. What a strange little camera. I feel like this would be a great one for RUclipsr's to ride on top of cameras while shooting. Might be good to document the process.

Tiny so as to avoid weird looks, mic jack, decent sensor size, 4k30 AND 1080p w/ high FPS options for slo-mo, focal length that is equivalent to 24mm, tripod screwy thing for a small gimbal to help stabilize the scene, not THAT expensive, flippy screen (even if vertical), and so on... paging Camera Conspiracies! Could this be the one???
6:25 Either that filter needs some cleaning or you need a new one, cause the footage looks blurry and very hazy.
Rodrigo Rodriguez camera has no AF-C so unfortunately it’ll always look out of focus unless your always at the same distance from when you press record.

If you're wondering what possible use these tiny cameras can be for "real" video and not just breaking clavicles on bicycles, I've found the GoPro Hero 7 Black to be an absolute beast for shooting music, dance, and drama rehearsals and K-8 classroom instruction and playground games.

I think I can sneak this camera into concerts and shoot in 4k. 30 minute battery life will be an issue.

I like that this has a bigger sensor than the go pro and the mic in this acutally sounds pretty proper. This def souds like the diretion that gopro should be heading. If this had the same IS as go pro it would be flawless.

I don't really care about the small camera, but the footage taken with the 24-70/4 makes me want to buy it right now. It almost has the plasticity as the old 35-70 C/Y lens. Amazing!

Go back to 6:15 where Kai explains the need to pre-check focus.

They did it. Now I can replace my go pro and rx100. Still wouldn’t replace my Oslo pocket because a gimbal that small uffff. But it’s awsome!

Camera manufacturers take note, fit a flippy forward facing screen and get good reviews from RUclipsrs, not that important to most of us, but pretty much everyone is going to RUclips for buying advice.

This is actually a good merge with a vlogging camera and an action cam. It even has a mic input.
it doesn't even have continuous auto focus. hard pass.
Had the rx100 mrk 2 and decided never to upgrade until they put a mic jack. I’m still waiting.
RX0 more for live streamer? The clean HDMI output on the back is hard to find in that size of camera. Go Pro on the side. Great for on board digital FPV flight camera on a gimbal. That's pretty niche for sure.

5:00 - why should you set ISO to 800 and then compensate with ND filter?
BTW, I'm not telling that this camera (or any other) shouldn't have mic input. But it is much more unnecessary here than in some A6*00. There they didn't put it just to make limitations and make model set wider.
Wow. Great work Sony! They have actually created something that Kai W didn't absolutely shit on! (Very rare these days). Better yet, they've actually come up with a true competitor for the GoPro. Something with crazy features that could attract someone away from GoPro's awesome branding.

Image is washed out and out of focus...and for $698 USD..I think I will stick with the Osmo Pocket for now.

@@ronaldso5994The IQ is pretty good for its size with smooth motion. Of course we can't compare this with other full frame sensor's.
OP is excellent for travel / vlogging / super quick turn-on-and-shoot kind of situation. It might also be good for some Pro short films with filters and planning.
Sony Coudn't recognize Lok on Kai's Channel , so went Out of Focus.

Dang. I think I'm convinced on this camera.
It seems a logical upgrade for Sony though I suspect it fits in that "why ?" category. It's a bit like the claim about mirrorless cameras being 'lighter' in weight which sort of makes no sense if you want to use pro grade lenses, it's the glass is where the weight is and you seem to make the point on this little camera with your lash up of a rig for it ! Good to see Lok :)

Previous one got overheated when filming 4k 30fps for one minute. I don't think I need slog in my action videos and the mic is something I don't need in action. GoPro has mic adaptors. This is just a durable photocamera for me, not exactly action, neither is X3000 which can't delete files without PC or laptop (which i dont bring with me to surfing or mountain hikes). I like sony, but I like their a7 dslr line, i like the Xperia XZ phones, but this is ridiculous for the price. I am exaggerating of course, but this is barely functional as an actual action camera.

@4:53 I counted 101 items they attached to the camera. But I'm pretty sure there's still room for another 49 things you can attached to the camera.

It's actually a very good idea.
I have older Sony action cameras that I don't use anymore that produce superb image quality compared to any dashcam out there.
If only Sony would update the firmware to make them a dashcam (turn on with power and true loop recording)

Yup....your news reporter “of the future” things is actually “of the now”: a friend of mine is a reporter and she goes out with a camera all by herself. The only thing still in the future is reporters using the super small cameras.

Huh so it's just an evolution of the original. I was hoping for more of a larger jump in performance and features but it's still a pretty nifty option for vloggers with limited space

I have a feeling that GoPro H7Black will still be a better option - half the price, 60fps vs 30fps @4K. And GoPro has been praised for great sound, nothing has been said about this one. Yes, front facing monitor is a big deal for vloggers, or at least, used to be during DSLR and other large camera era. For a wide angle action camera such as this and GoPro it’s not as much of a deal, since you know you’ll be in the frame and most things will be in focus, since it’s not that shallow
for people that care about sensor size, when light dimmed down the bigger sensor will have cleaner images, and the lens is rectilinear for people that hate fish eye.

Would have loved to see Type-C USB in there for quicker transfers now that it has internal 4K recording...
