    Hey farm mom so if i want to hatch broiler chicks, what rooster and hen do i need to have.

    • @farmmom7140
      @farmmom7140  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for watching! If you’re looking for a chicken that can lay eggs and also be a good source of meat, then you should consider raising Red Rangers. These beautiful chickens are a hybrid developed to live healthier, longer lives and are fast-growing meat birds while still growing and laying at an impressive rate. Red Rangers are around the same size as most broiler breeds, with the males weighing around 6 pounds when they’re 10 weeks old and females weighing around 5 pounds at 10 weeks. Hopefully this helps, good luck!

    I just hatched my first 6 eggs. They are now almost a week old. Should I clean their little hinies (vents?) if they're not perfectly clean?

    Great Video, quick question 🙋🏻‍♀️ what temp. Do you put your incubator on at all times, this is My 1st time incubating eggs 🥚??

    • @farmmom7140
      @farmmom7140  Год назад

      Thanks for watching! If you have a forced air fan in your incubator, set it for 99.5 degrees. If it's a still air incubator you need to set it a little warmer. Ideally around 100-101 degrees. Good luck!

    I got incubator same like yours but it doesn’t have auto turners. Am I still good with manual rotation or will it decrease the hutch rate??

    • @farmmom7140
      @farmmom7140  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching Chandra. It won't decrease the hatch rate as long as your turning the eggs at least 2-3 times daily during the incubation period. If you can turn them 4-5 times a day it's even better. Just remember that last 3 days of incubation you go on "Lock Down" . No more turning the eggs at that point. Good luck on your hatch!

    What do you do with all your chickens? Do you have some for meat? Do you sell?

    I'm a new subscriber. I'm watching a lot of your videos. I'm wanting to get chicks next month. Praying.
    What do you do if you get a bunch of rood?

    • @farmmom7140
      @farmmom7140  2 года назад

      Welcome Loretta, and thanks for subscribing! If you get a bunch of roosters, some people continue to raise them up and put meat in their freezer. Otherwise, I usually find local people looking for a rooster or two to add to their flock. Good luck!

    So what do you do with all the roosters you end up with? This is the only thing stopping me from incubating eggs.

    • @farmmom7140
      @farmmom7140  4 года назад +2

      Good morning Angie. Unfortunately there is only a couple things that you can do with them. When I started incubating these eggs I already had set up with my father-in-law to take any roosters. They will use them for food once there at the 5-6 month age range. Otherwise I know quite a few other farmers that would take them for free as well for food purposes. The other option is to keep them all!!! Thanks for watching Angie and have an awesome day!

    Can a bantam rooster successfully breed with a full-grown hen? We got 3 Bantam and 3 full-size and two of the bantams are roosters and the rest are hens 😂 they haven’t started Laying but the Bantam is trying to breed everyone😂

    • @farmmom7140
      @farmmom7140  4 года назад +2

      It is possible. The trouble would be the rooster being able to actually reach and preform. He will definitely try. Just keep an eye on your hens. Sometimes the roosters will hold on to there combs if they cant quite reach. This could cause the hens comb to bleed or get sores. Good luck and thanks for watching Ruthie.
