I went to college with Steve at USD. He would sit down at dinner with a group of us sometimes and we would all hang out and talk. I knew he played the guitar, but he mostly talked about surfing. He’s exactly the same person, always had a smile on his face. Who knew back then he would help write a monumental song, and launch a young girls career. I’m happy that Steve found his purpose in life, and that he’s happy as a person. You just never know, Life is so strange.
I make gig posters for part of my living and I've made several for Steve Poltz. But I never listened to his music or knew who he was. Till yesterday. Now I am a huge fan (thanks to Otis Gibbs).
I lived in San Diego for 20 years and Poltz was a local gem -- now he's a national treasure!
