UK Elections: How each network revealed exit poll results live

Extended footage of how Sky News, BBC News, ITV News, Channel 4 News, GB News, LBC Radio and TalkTV counted down and revealed the exit poll results at 10pm BST on July 4, 2024 showing a 'Labour Landslide' across the board.
The Sky News results looks like they just opened a FIFA pack.
Sounded like it too 😂
Was quite appropriate considering it was in the MNF studio tbf
POTM Starmer more than makes up for the out-of-position Sunak, and the 13 overall Farage is maybe the worst right winger in FIFA history.
WHEEZING it genuinely does
🤩🤩🤩
Sounded more like Babestation!😂😂
Sky having an orgsam
Its embarassing anchoring, makes her seem uneducated
@@jackm1310 or she's just REALLY into politics
@@phalanx9005or she’s just really horny over politics
@@jackm1310if they were uneducated kinda like you they wouldn't have understood what those numbers met.
Just for context, earlier in the broadcast (not shown in the clip), Kay Burley said she'd deliberately sequestered herself away from the results of the exit poll so she could have a genuine reaction alongside her guests. As she's arguably the politics matriarch of Sky News, I'm not surprised at her reaction as she knew it would send shockwaves throughout UK politics and give her the opportunity to produce some really juicy content.
GBNews getting Labour and Con the wrong way around first time doesn't shock me at all haha
Watching that I laughed so hard!
They're known as 'Geebeebies' for a reason.
Their Russian handlers were used to the colours of the American parties
@@John-qz8fq "known as" by who? A narrow minded, easily led minority of people who ironically spell their own 'GBeebies' insult wrongly?
And was out of sync with the announcement unless they knew it was wrong but being professional and not saying anything until it was corrected I think they would have announced it at 10:00 otherwise rather than have that delay
Sky News reactions sounds like a completely different type of show 😂
I'm just so so happy that GBNews put Cons at 410 in the exit poll reveal. I think it must have given half their viewers a heart attack seeing those numbers and then getting told their town is Labour
Half their viewers? So roughly 16 people?
I mean classic GBN … mu favorite .. labour has only have 5 prime ministers …. Tories did that in 6 years!!
@@kevoreilly6557 Most ironic flex ever
They must've thought we have the real news. Everyone else has "fake news"
Not GB News putting the wrong numbers, saying 410 seats for conservatives
@@_Blu-jay shock horror, a typo on live TV 🤦♂️
Do they know that swapping the numbers around doesnt actually change the results? lol
@@OBIIIIIIIIISilly Tories.
@@OBIIIIIIIII No, they don't. they want a post truth world.
And then a looooong pause to allow their viewers to stop watching and go on on twitter without the actual numbers lol.
5:06 “labour doesn’t win elections.” 5 seconds later “Labour Landslide”
That moment was precious!!!! 😂
I think she meant more as in the conservatives lose rather than labour win. Not that I agree with her, seems like a right stuck up mare lol
They didn't win it chaps, the Tories simply lost it catastrophically.
@@Perrygallo which means Labour won. Do you not understand what words means.
GB News being completely ignorant of reality as usual.
The poll is commissioned by BBC/Sky/ITV so they have the results instantly, everyone else has to play catch up.
GBnews lol
Everyone else watches one of those channels to get the results 😂
Sky News without question had the best reveal. Not only that, but I've never been more on edge watching something.
Burley and co. were on edge too ig
I stuck to their coverage after dancing around the networks for a bit. All seemed a lot more enjoyable for some reason
Sky news were defo Edging
Kay burley has done some great things for there reporting
@@Thedarkknight2244 Agree. The best was the interview with the vice-chair of reform. an hour later Farag goes on about how "main stream media" has not interviewed one reform candidate. Man, she put him in his place...not that he realised it.
Sky really reallly liked the results
It was utter chaos though with the tories
Putting up with Ruth Davidson was awful
I think Kay burley has got the show to inject a lot of energy into the broadcast
Channel 4 clearly watching sky news on their laptops
LBC and GBN too
They was behind for a lot of the coverage.
Channel 4 was actually watching itv coverage because itv owns them (Their News)
What a bunch of amateurs GBNews is... who watches this tripe...
BBC clearly had the best approach, being the only channel to immediately show the full numbers.
BBC graphics too simple and boring commentary before showing the exit poll. sky was miles better
Why does it need to be entertaining?
I'd say ITV's was the best. No music, just the chimes and bongs of Big Ben. Much more gravitas.
@@BCJ1985looked cheap and tacky
@@THEVIEW-tx5yd yeah, ITV tried the least, just their regular news studio look
BBC was the only one that felt professional
the moment GBNews realised their propaganda hadn't worked. Hard L
Did you actually watch any of GBnews' election coverage? It was more broad-minded than the sky presenters moans of joy over the result.
Which non biased channel do you watch then?
Probaly Channel 4 😂
Interesting to see how the three broadcasters who were part of the poll could deliver the result instantly and cleanly while the others scrambled around to get the numbers out as quickly as possible presumably by watching BBC/ITV/SKY behind the scenes.
Cheapskates
BBC and Sky were the only good ones. ITV's presenter fluffed his lines at the crucial moment, Channel 4 couldnt get the graphic up on time, and the others were clearly just watching the BBC and reading it off the screen 😂
and gbn getting labour and conservatives the wrong way around lmao
Yes, Tom Bradby made a right pig's ear of it right at the crucial moment. Dreadful.
0:00 Sky News

Suggestion to all broadcasters at poll closing time: Please show the graphic of how many seats per party, like the BBC.
they are waiting for the BBC to produce the graphic so they can copy it...takes time to type it up
@@finthegeekso true
They won't have access to the information if they don't contribute to financing the exit poll.
I will say, I was watching the BBC's Northern Irish coverage, so I only saw Labour and Conservative results until they had a more comprehensive graphic thirty seconds later. I think BBC Scotland did it best, although I don't know how BBC Wales did it. I like that the BBC wasn't as gimmicky as Sky.
@@jacobtodd1622 not all broadcasters have the figures ready, they have to wait for the announcements from other sources and update their own graphics accordingly.
The sounds SkyNews anchors made at 0:47 were quite disturbing.😳
That BBC News notification on LBC, just to remind people to go check their coverage instead 😂
That’s was a sky news sting
least suprising thing was GB news messing up lol
They didn't. They want a post truth narrative where they can claim that nothing is true, just your personal opinion. It is a long game. Awful.
Sky News needs a cigarette after that!
Sky news’ exit poll sounds like a countdown to something better than politics- that music!
The BBC election music is such a vibe
BBC have by far the best election theme songs
Sky not even trying to hide their delight.
Andy Burnham the labour mayor of Manchester was making those noises haha
And Talk tv not showing there disappointment by trying to spin negatives on labour's and lib dems result
@@gregoryshtevensh6868 As was Kay Burley.
Isn't Sky owned by Murdoch, who would want a Tory win?
@@anthonydpearson no, he sold all shares in Sky in 2018
GB news were on the verge of tears.
you can see the exact moment Laura's heart broke.
Results aside, I think it’s a shame how trashy and American our main news providers have become over the last perhaps ten years.
GB news tried its best to copy trashy American news but was completely unsuccessful
4:45 Excellent professionalism by GB News as usual
GBnews actually had decent coverage overall, the wrong graphic was soon remedied.

@luke5837 GB news can't even get their audio right. Even after being around for three years
@@samuelstevens248 on a normal day I'd agree, there is no excuse for audio or graphics issues, but the scale of the election coverage was definitely not what GBnews is used to or equipped for, errors were a given.
Glad I didn't watch Channel 4. What a shambles that they couldn't even show the numbers like BBC, Sky and ITV.
Well, the exit poll was sponsored by BBC, Sky, and ITV, so they can have the numbers on hand to show when Big Ben strikes 10, and others have to wait to copy down the numbers.
Probably because Ipsos didn't give them the numbers in time due to the fact that they didn't commission the poll with BBC, ITV and Sky
Actually Channel 4 had the best coverage over all, including some hysterical back and forth between Alistair Campbell and Nadine Dorries. You missed out.
@@Bolachas25Emily Maitless’ rambling at 10 o’clock was awful, but you’re right, overall their coverage was good.
They didn't fund the poll like BBC/Sky/ITV so I guess didn't have the same ability to post instantly (ITV and Channel 4 coverage being produced by ITV means they likely had the info at the same time)
BBC did it best, that's what i watched it on
GB news was glorious 🤣
Loved the stunned silence In the GB News studio . Some of them clearly in denial up until that moment
That silly bint's rant about how labour don't win elections seconds before the result is priceless 🤣
@@garykelly6669 how, literally everyone knew this, infact the polls were showing double digits for the conservatives
@@94Coolperson To be fair, Labour didn't really _win_ per se - it's more that the Tories lost, and Labour merely got in by default.
@@Tredenix oh my mistake so who did win lol
I wouldn't describe GBNews and TalkTV as networks as such, TalkTV has run out of money and is a streaming operation only. BTW, LBC is a radio station.
I have to say that Channel Four election night coverage was a bit amateur, to say the least, had a look and quickly switched back to BBC.
Nah I Loved Channel 4
In my view from Canada, Torries KNEW they were losing this one & had a fear that they were going to lose VERY BIG.....Its still a big loss, but its not a collapse. That would be from Majority......TO TWO SEATS(Refrencing the '92 Canadian Federal election).
Canada 1993 was a phenomenon and the worst ever result of its kind. This is still a collapse, although a smaller one in comparison. A smaller door is still a door. The final result, some 121 seats, is at the lower end of the worst predictions for them.
For context, this is the lowest number of seats the Conservatives have had EVER. In 1906, they had 129 seats. The second lowest result in history was 165 seats in 1997. This year, 2024, they got 121 seats.
(Of course, you're right that 2 seats would be lower... but this is still a historic loss.)
People forget, that Labour won a landslide with just 35% of the vote. Parties lose elections normally on that figure. Plus, in the end the Tories were just 9 points behind. not 20 as predicted by other polls. There were also 6 million people who chose not to vote as it was the lowest turnout for years - 61%. The volatility of voters no longer guarantees any party a victory from one election to the next. The Tories are over 200 years old, they know how to bounce back. Farage will get on everyone's nerves by Christmas and two days in to the new Government they are already talking about closer EU alignment and scrapping a popular Rwanda policy. Anyone, literally anyone, can win any election these days regardless of current seat numbers.
We call networks ‘channels’ in England
The collective groaning from the Sky, I can't ....😂
Thank you for this. I was trying to find this from the various networks.
GB news very amateurish and channel 4 even worse coverage,
GB news you really are hopeless 😂
Poor old Laura looks gutted - all that sucking up to the tories for nothing. No Damehood for her.
She might get a job emptying the bins out back of the BBC offices. That would be fair.
@@neilwilson5785Still too good for her
And to rub it in further the BBC forced Fiona Bruce to cover the Starmer campaign. Glorious.
SKY NEWS reveal was definitely the best. I was on the edge of my seat with the tension. Tom Bradbury on ITV fluffing his lines and waffling before the reveal was really irritating. BBC was as dull as ditch water, despite Big Ben. The rest were really amateurish in their presentation and announcement.
Obviously Laura Kuernsburg was very disappointed on the BBC
Nah sky news over did it. BBC looked proffessional and clean.
I think it's a question of personal taste. BBC was very "clean" and was probably the best for a broad audience watching all over the country. Sky News was much more dramatic and delivered for the political junkies. All the other Channels were trash. I was particularly disappointed how ITV fumbled, because with C4 and the conservative news channels I would've never expected better anyways
Sky was pathetic. Sounded like she was having an orgasm.
Bbc had big Ben, king arthur and professionalism.
Thought Sky was awful. Much prefered the BBC - so much more professional
Omg thanks for this!
The "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" seems to forget the reason its called the UK and not just GB.
Sky News was the best one
Love Talk TV trying to spin it as a bit disappointing for Labour and the Lib Dems. 😂
That's right wing media for you
Where can I find the Sky News election theme? I love it!
Talk TV (Reform TV) was a comedy show. 10 mins in they were trying to paint the poll as a disappointment for Labour, then next 9 hours that Nigel Farage was about to rule the galaxy
Julia Hartley Sewer looked like she was about to combust with rage
Was that a Sky News Breaking News notification on someone's phone interuppting Shelagh Fogarty on LBC?😅
Sky News did it the best - they really create a sense of drama. BBC is so pedestrian.
You are the problem with politics
I mean to be fair, it's the news. It should be formal and pedestrian, it's not a Marvel movie lmao
Sky news was pathetic sounded like she was having an orgasm
C4 were as disorganised as the rest of their night
BBC: AND AS BIG BEN BEN STRIKES TEN, THE EXIT POLLS IS PREDICTING A LABOUR LANDSLIDE
ITV: It is predicting a Labour landslide
C4: It is a Labour Landslide
GBN: *Casually counting
LBC: *Big ben chimes
TalkTV: It is a LABOUR LANDSLIDE
Meanwhile Sky News: Augh, Oh My God
Don’t suppose anyone knows where to find a recording of Sky’s election coverage?
Think the channel 4 lady had to go on the bbc iPlayer to find out the numbers
Can you post the intros etc of sky news coverage; can’t find it anywhere?

I am crying at how shoddy literally every facet of GB News is. Does anyone actually watch it?
I am sure I saw Laura Kuenssberg's legs wobble when the exit poll was revealed....
I saw a clear liquid running down her legs
Channel 4 kinda messed it up, imo. They didn't show the seats for too long, everyone in the pub I was at was shouting "Show us the seats!" lmao
As an American, I watched Sky News live and am glad I did. They were clearly the best. BBC used to have the best election night programming but not anymore. What is up with Channel 4? Extremely disorganized.
ch4 coverage was brilliant
I remember having bbc, sky and itv news tabs all open at same time but the noises from sky...😧
lmao someones Sky News notification went off on their phone during the LBC broadcast
Sky news did it best
Bit amateur on Channel 4, having to read it out and not putting it up on the screen haha
They didnt do the exit poll, sky, itv and bbc commission it. So they have to read it out, probably watching bbc or reading it from the website.
well done - nice to see them all - and their reactions- very interesting…
Thanks jed
how did channel 4 screw up their numbers
It makes me rather happy that the tories and deform did worse than predicted and lib dem and labour did better.
Our electoral system is a joke. Reform literally got more of the overall vote, almost a million more votes, yet they only have 5 seats, and Lib Dems have 71. Please explain to me how that's fair?
@@coolperson962first past the post, baby! the country's pretty much fucked so might as well fuck it even more.

Bbc and ITV were the most professional and easiest to watch, sky was childish
To be completely honest, none of them were great, what was going on at the BBC? No animation, the camera just cut to show a CGI graphic.
It's like none of them thought to have a little practice before the show... 😂

Sky had the best reveal. Channel 4 were tense, they reaction, they didn't like the results.
Disagree. Im sure Campbell and Harman were delighted. And even Stewart. I think they had the best coverage. Their guests gave different perspectives which makes any discourse worthwhile. And they were not constrained to say their views. Imagine Harman trashing Truss/Kwarteng mini budget disaster when Kwarteng is sat beside her.
EXIT POLL IMMINENT
Wished I'd watched Sky now
I did for about a solid twenty-four hours from 10.00 pm on the Thursday. It was utterly brilliant from start to finish and the unsensational way the coverage was handled in a beautifully relaxed studio made the night all the more exciting. I don't need to be told to get excited, thank you. I can do that all of my own accord. I usually go for BBC, or at a stretch ITV, so the Sky News election night experience was a revelation, likewise the coverage of my favourite bit of a new government - the Friday afternoon procession of the new Cabinet, which really gives the impression of a new beginning. It was perfect timing when Angela Rayner arrived on one side of the split screen while Nigel Farage was getting his thugs to eject the protestors from the Reform UK post-election meeting and they were talking of her difficult upbringing as a real person of the people as opposed to Farage's grotesque pretence. I was a little tearful.
Mmg how did they screwe it up cons at 410? 4:58
The Adults Are Back In The Room.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm laughing at LBC getting a Sky News app notification
Lmao gb news showing “impartiality “😂😂
These shows must be so well-rehearsed. I cannot begin to understand how all (other than the BBC) failed to hit a hard count and leave a 5 second pause and break the result. I appreciate the minority broadcasters are playing catch-up, but it is just bizarre.
I took part in the exit poll, so I was particularly interested in the results
3:30 someone on the graphics desk at Channel 4 is having a brain aneurysm
Should have included S4C
Kuennsberg looked ill at the exit poll reveal and was chewing a wasp all night
Seems the exit poll as opposed to the actual poll was on the mark.
I still don't understand why Rishi called this election. Did he really expect a majority? Really?
UK is really too polite
BBC didn't look too happy..
this should have been the result in 2019. we had a chance to have a decent prime minister and it was crazy how his policy's were implemented during COVID anyway
Looks like Channel 4 had a cock up getting the numbers.
Sky felt more like a countdown to if the world was going to end or not rather than the exit polls
Sheils Fogarty of LBC totally ruined the moment by making it seem like no big deal at all. After Andrew's super introduction.
Although I tuned into BBC for the exit poll I do like the more traditional aesthetic of the ITV coverage which cut to the chase and broke the news of a major political shift rather than the BBC’s results board and flashy CGI
We can pay millions of dollars to run a 20,000 panel … or we can wait 3 seconds
wow channel 4 having to google the exit poll how crap are they?
