Fun fact: In an automatic transmission, you need to reduce torque for the rpm to drop in order to change gear. It can be done by fuel cut or retard ignition timing(ignition cut). The “fart” sound is caused by ignition cut, unburned fuel igniting in the exhaust. Most European cars, torque converter or dct, uses ignition cut because it is actually one cycle faster than fuel cut on cutting and reactivating, it also acts sort of like anti-lag in a way for turbo car. Fuel cut will be quieter but slower. Fun fact #2: VAG cars with DSG will not have fart sound when using launch control because it engages both clutch to sufficiently slow the engine down. Correct me if I’m wrong.

If you need manual, you need to go S and shift. In D it will go back to auto after you hit pedal for few secs. And I think the prevention of shfiting down easily more to protect the engine these days? Maybe

我的polo sedan fully stock 改了exhaust竟然也有fart sound 不是dsg也不是turbo都有 结果我查了资料 好像是vw原厂为了帮助弥补换牙后那个动力空档 类似turbo车的misfirng system的原理😂

@@zhisinlee2687 miss firing 老爷车也会,点火timing 迟了,燃烧到一半的燃料就被推出去exhaust就pop了。不过那个不是好的现象哈哈。有些turbo车利用这个来解决lag的问题,不过有如果太多跑去catalytic converter就会过热。。。延迟点火会提高 exhaust温度,turbine要很耐热,因为它pop在turbine和exhaust。
