I love catching these guys they always put up a good fight and they are usually pretty chill when you bring them up to de-hook them, also are adorable so you become everyone's bestfriend cause they wanna pet the cute shark before you put them back
Absolutely love sharks since I was little I'm now 40 read books watched National Geographic ,Discovery etc. And I just learned about this shark...So cool
It's important to note that there are very few exclusive herbivores and that most animals who are considered herbivores are not against eating meat when the opportunity arises. Cows eating baby animals, hares and rabbits hunting down injured birds and deer intentionally consuming bones as well as a tasty bit of carrion.
I've been to the Henry Doorly Zoo many times; they have a great record with deliberate breeding but sharks are not one of those species. They have produced many gorilla babies and pretty much saved the black footed ferret with a highly successful breeding program. If you ever get a chance to visit (and I know many people hate zoos but they do a great job of giving the animals lots of room and enrichment) I think it's worth the long walk (it's huge).
Zoos are perfectly fine nowadays. they raise awareness for animal needs across the globe. Although I am only thinking of actual zoos, not "private zoos" as they exist in the usa. Sea World though... lets just say that 50% of their male orcas have a floppy dorselfin, and in the wild only 2%.

Really interesting- How cool would it be if "sharks accidentally eating rooted plants while hunting for burrowing prey" was the explanation for how the plant digestion trait developed in the first place!
Very likely, as the microbiomes change over time if you start to increase percentages of certain foods, as certain bacteria grow more preferably with certain types of foods (obviously). IE if a human ate nothing but meat for 20 years went back to eat a plate full of vegetables, they would have a really bad time intestinally, high amounts of gas, pain, bloating, undigested plant matter, etc. This is why vegans/vegetarians get stomach issues if they eat meat. The microbiome in the intestines has changed to be mostly microbes that prefer plant based chemicals.
I think by now the around 100 meter Godzilla iterations outnumber the around 50 meter iterations, except maybe if you count each showa Godzilla movie that contradicts the others as a new entity.

A guide in Charleston SC helped me catch one of these in an estuary. He felt very muscular and strong when I was holding him upside down in my hands. He pulled really hard when he was on the line and took off like a shot once I set him back in the water.
