Always enjoy any interviews with Anthony. This guy is so interesting - I guess he's seen it all.
I remember the days of 99 cents breakfast or 1.49 with steak, back in the 90's. We just loved
it in Vegas, up, until about 2015, 2016. It really changed after that. For us, older folk, it's too
dangerous now. We go somewhere else - a more laid back place.

Thanks for having Anthony Curtis on again. I don’t particularly mind the heat during the day but when it doesn’t cool off at night, that is the issue. Walking outside at midnight and it is still 95 due to the asphalt acting like a sponge is awful.

NASCAR has been a disaster as I was not visiting Vegas anytime around that race. The Love show being gone is a huge loss. I saw it twice and loved it. As an Idenity Club member at the Cosmo myself, the program is phased out as of August 1.

Very interesting interview! May have to choose the Rio next time. What do you know about the Orleans these days? When my brothers and mother lived in Vegas that was one of the best places to play VP. We never went to the Strip.

I have stayed and even played at Rio Las Vegas when they changed ownership back in October 2023. Their Rio Rewards player club system is the most rewarding for just slot players in all of Las Vegas in my opinion. However, Anthony Curtis is primarily a very talented blackjack and video poker player so the casino aspect would not appeal to him. What I agree with Anthony Curtis is that the renovated rooms are nice and spacious. It is of good value with either a coupon from his coupon book or playing a few thousand points of slots which is easily attainable. The food choices are decent as well if you are not looking for fancy choices.

Better late than never, I will provide you the feedback you requested where JJ Roman played TDB Blue Boxes on Becky's channel at Resorts World a few months ago. I know JJ Roman played fairly fast and he admitted that he is going to play his way. Most of the holds were correct except for the fact that when Aces appeared, he chose to be more aggressive to hold Aces over going for Royal Flush. That is he held a lone Ace over suited high cards KJ, multiple suited high cards should always be held. There was another case where he was dealt Ace + Jack of the same suit, but he discarded the suited Jack because he wanted to go for the quad Aces. JJ Roman did hit Quad Aces + Kicker to finish off a big winning session. I know it was at $60 per hand at 10 hands, but those strategy deviations can add up to big losses unless he lands quad Aces in which he fortunately did. I will respond sooner next time, hope that explains what you wanted to hear about!

The reason they do not just advertise a room rate with no resort fee, is because they give away too many rooms to lower tier players. This way, they still get to collect the daily fee even on those free rooms.
For example, at MGM, you have to be a gold card holder or higher to have your resort fee waived.
All those players at their Pearl status gets free rooms, but still have to pay the resort fee. Some of the bottom tier players will get a night or two for free, but still have to pay the fee. This maintains a revenue stream for all those free room nights.
The other reason, is with the poor housekeeping and aged hotel conditions, when a guest complains about something, they can cut the fee back (or eliminate it) for a day or 2 of the stay - My last stay at MGM Grand, the rooms were filthy (I had paid for 3 rooms due to family meeting up out there, and all three rooms were filthy-nasty), housekeeping did a crappy job each day, and one night the water was out on our floor from about 10p until 5a (BIG issue, because you had to get dressed and schlep down to the main floor to use the restroom - and for an old guy, this is 2-3 times a night.) - Complaining to management only resulted in offering to waive the resort fee for one night. (no willingness to change us out of the 3 rooms to another floor or anything when the water was out either)
I swore off the Grand at that point. We stayed 4 nights at Park MGM the last trip, and even though it is the same corporation, there was a huge difference in the attitude of all the staff....it was actually a great stay.
At MGM, to get to gold takes about 70k points I think, which for most folks is going to take 3-4 trips to MGM properties.
However, if you get their MGM Mastercard, you get Pearl status automatically. Your spend on the card goes towards your points, so if you pay all your bills and monthly expenses on it, some folks could probably rack up enough points to get Gold each year with only 1 visit to a casino.

This is why I wonder if Caesars will downgrade their tier benefit of no resort fee. 15,000 tier credits used to be a lot but with the 10x multiplier days, is just $14,000 coin in on normal video poker or an estimated loss of $250 playing 98.2% games.

    • @44Mag
      @44Mag 21 день назад

@@Henry_Fung When I was younger I could play about 600 hands per hour very easily. Nowadays though, I peak at around 450 hands an hour. On a $ poker machine, that is about $2,250 per hour throughput, and I usually play about 3-4 hours per day, which is about $6,750-$9,000 per day (before any multipliers awarded, etc)
I have gone for shorter trips, which makes my bankroll able to play the $5 machines, so then I can run $33,750 - $ 45,00 through the machine per day, which helps get closer to the gold status. (they do not credit you 1 point for $1 played for video poker. I forgot the conversion on it)

Read the story about MGM Detroit. She won a table games progressive, not slots. She was trespassed for panhandling but she was seeking funds from a family member who had borrrowed money from her in the past. MGM has no case when it hits court. She will be paid eventually.
