  • This video provides a demonstration of how to carry out Canonical correlation using SPSS. Because there is no drop-down menu option available, the demonstration necessarily involves some discussion of syntax.

Dear Mike, I'm very much looking forward to watching another of your video lessons! Regarding your comment above, my SPSS seems to have an option for canonical correlation using the graphical interface: It seems to be at the end of the correlate block. Or am I confusing things?

Hi Andrew, this video was made back in 2018 and SPSS has gone through some recent editions (it seems they are coming out with a new version almost yearly), so it's possible that canonical correlation has been added as part of the GUI in the newer versions (I believe they are up to 27 now). It might also be due to whether you have a standard or premium version. I'm sorry, I'm just not up on all the things IBM SPSS adds between versions. I will say that the version I am on (standard version 26) did not include a menu option for canonical correlation. I ended up adding a macro, however, under the Extension Hub: Stats_CANCORR Extension. I don't know who installed your version of SPSS but it may be that that extension was somehow added which would result in a menu option under the Correlate menu where you are describing yours being located. Hope this helps! At some point I will probably demo that one -- certainly the output looks a heck of a lot nicer than what I showed in this video :) Best wishes!

What data is in the input sheet? for the canonical correlation test.
Is it mean of grouped questions?
    please clear..
