The dragon at 33:00 is Vermithor the Bronze Fury.
He belonged to King Jaehaerys, the old king back in the beginning of episode 1. He’s the second largest dragon alive, the biggest being Vhagar.

Fun fact: Daenerys learns very quickly in the books that she cant "control" them. She learns that the dragons are nothing like horses. A horses first instinct is to flee from danger, but a dragons first instinct is to turn and face the enemy head on.
She also was essential the mother of her dragons and raised them since birth, vhagar and Aemonds relationship is much much different

Drogon proved that the Targ's control of dragons is indeed an illusion, but their bond is strong. But when there was some intimidation to be done, Drogon was certainly down for the cause lol he listened then!

When Rheanyra looked into the camera at the end with vengeance in her eyes. Chills came over me plus tears in my eyes. I felt all her lost. Her dad her baby her son.
How? This was the scene that made me cringe the most. It's so unnatural, not like real life at all. Granted I found the actress unfit for the role anyway.

Did they all just miss that Daemon choked Rhaenyra when she brought up the song of ice and fire, the secret among Targaryen kings and their heirs that his brother Viserys never once thought him worthy enough to share with? That's the reason. His frustration with Viserys, his denial of heirship, trust and love of his brother, and his jealousy over Rhaenyra all coming together into a complicated emotion that he can only let out in the one way he knows how: violence. Anger is easier for Daemon to access than to sit in his emotions.
I have no Idea how so many reactors were not able to get this. Daemon's actor said himself that he is best with scenes he doesn't talk in and he is right! The acting in the choking scene was perfect and it still flew over too many people's head

Honestly I really appreciate them bringing in the intensity of childbirth into the story. Like women giving birth is often thrown around in these stories like it's popping a zit or some other minor nuisance. This really depicts how childbirth before modern medicine is a near-death experience and there's a LOT about being human that comes from this. I knew right away with the graphic C-section in episode 1 that this show was going to pay the mothers in the series the respect they deserve. More or less how Aemma put it. Women might not have been risking their lives on the battlefield, but they were still fighting battles of their own. I just like to see the show pay credit to that.
But also, it helps show that Rhaenyra is an absolute BEAST. She had Joffrey and then walked all the way to the queen right after. Baby chokegaryen comes in a meeting and she's like "shit, I'll just deliver this myself", grabs a chair, bends over literally saying "get out...get OUT" and continuing politics in the meantime. Like this is how I imagine Toph gave birth to her kids.

You guys seemed to miss that Rhaenyra knew about a song of ice and fire and its prophecy while Daemon didn't, meaning the whole time Daemon was Viserys' heir, he was never told about the prophecy. So a large part of why he choked her was his probable realization that Viserys never intended Daemon to be his heir. Only the heirs are told about the prophecy.
He didn’t attack. You can clearly hear him say “nooo obey me” the dragon decided to throw fire on its own.
Right? I can only imagine a smaller animal trying to defend himself against a larger animal. The smaller dragon who was being chased. It is also a freaking dragon who was saying “f this I’m gonna fight” and the humans/dragon riders really do not have any real power over them. I can’t tell you how many times my 50lb dog “tells off” my 90lb dog when he’s being an asshat. But my dogs are not Dragons….

They made a point when talking about how many dragons they have that none of the ones on the black side have any kind of combat experience. The boy was telling it to focus before they even took off because he could see how nervous it was becoming.

Viserys was right all along in fearing & never really riding them (Edit: Correction on my part, Yes he did ride Balerion but for an extremely short amount of time) , he knew Targaryens were just glorified dragon tamers & at the end of the day nothing can control a dragon when its emotions got the better of them.

@Kaladins I think they mean that it’s reductive to invalidate the pain and suffering Alicent has been through. Both she AND Rhaenyra suffer under a patriarchal system of governance, and both loose so much.
Alicent however;
-Looses her mother.
-Forced to seduce the father of her childhood BEST FRIEND.
-Consistently manipulated by her father.
-Is lied to by the one person she actively goes out of her way to aid.
-Is forced as a human baby factory, and is treated like a cum processor rather than a person.
-Has her second youngest child, her child loose an eye over family drama.
-Looses her deepest connection. (Rhaenyra who Alicent loved most.)
-And then looses her husband, who while far older, it’s clear she did love him.
Both characters are the product of their previous generation, and both fuck up a multitude of times. Invalidating Alicent’s suffering is just like overlooking Rhaenyra’s, it misses the whole point of their conflict. Both of them are the same, both are being forced into morally complicated and very akward situations due to the schemes of others, and their lack of preparedness.

Luke didn't order Arrax to attack Vhagar, Arrax did that because he sensed that Luke was scared (and so was Arrax) cause their dragon/dragon rider bond was very in tune. Aemond and vhagar aren't bonded very well if at all because there is no regard for any of the orders that aemond has given her thus far. But Luke never ordered Arrax to spit fire at Vhagar and you can even hear him say "Arrax NO!" when he does. Luke was well aware of the fact that he and Arrax could not take on Vhagar--they were both scared out of their minds and Arrax only attacked to defend Luke :(

The Dornish used one to take down Meraxes during the first Targaryen invasion of Dorne. This is why only Dorne managed to stop Aegon the Conqueror and had to be integrated by marriage.

The "Daemon! Why?" question - it's about the prophecy. Daemon was Viserys' heir for a decade - but when Rhaenyra starts talking about the song of ice and fire, and how Viserys shared it with his heir, with the assumption that Daemon ALSO knew this information... Well, Daemon is suddenly shown, without a doubt, that Viserys never really saw him as the heir. He's hurt, and he's angry, and he's Daemon - hence the violent, aggressive lashing out and the disparaging rant about useless dreams. It's why Rhaenyra's reaction is not to actually be upset, per se, but to suddenly see Daemon in a different light - and finally understand that her father truly trusted her as the heir.

Rhaenyra has had the most emotional 48 hours ever. She found out her father died, Aegon and the Hightowers usurped her throne, had a miscarriage, attended a funeral that turned into a coronation, confronted Otto, confronted her husband, and lost another child.
I mean two dead kids, dead father and a royal robbery I'm surprised she hasn't gone insane unlike Alicent who went bananas after Aemonds eye got ripped off.
Just wanted to point out that yes, normally Arrax would be faster than Vhagar, but because of the storm Arrax was struggling and Vhagar with his bulk kept steady through the winds.

A dragon is not a slave. Remember Viserys said "it's an illusion to think that they control their dragons" to Rhaenyra on episode 1. Also since the Targaryen's are bonded with their dragons the dragons probably can read their emotions and acted accordingly to Lucerys and Aemond's emotions even though they didn't command their dragons to attack.
I'm still pissed Rhaenyra's only daughter was a stillborn, wouldn't it great having a daughter named Visenya? The whole realm would be trembling in fear just by hearing her name, lol

Vhagar, the bigger dragon, is usually the slower dragon. But they were in a storm that slowed down the smaller dragon but barely fazed Vhagar
At that size difference, theres no way Vhagar is slower. His one wingbeat can probably cover more than a hundred metres, so even though he moves slower, just because of the sheer size difference he is faster.

Vhagar is a War Dragon. He was part of Aegon's Conquest. He was originally Aegon's Sister's dragon. He was in the Dornish Wars. He was following his instincts.

A bit of context that a lot of people miss around Daemond chocking Rhaenyra is that he was Viserys’ heir for years before she was born. Considering Daemond beat a man to death with a helmet for a much more minor wounding of his pride by Viserys this is a very tame reaction when you realise that on top of his frustration at Rhaenyra’s lack of strong action she incidentally told him that Viserys never considered him a worthy heir.
Daemon has very little self-control, and a lot of anger inside him. He crossed the line when he choked Rhaenyra; but Daemon is not a nice or good man.
Vhagar is like the biggest known dragon at that time, she'll not accept any disrespect. I love her.
The dragons looked so amazing here. Made up for the big lack of dragons in other episodes. Also, I really liked the scene with Arrex and Luke up in the sky. It was beautiful.
The umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck, so not only did Rhaenyras body go into early labor the baby didn’t stand a chance.
The bond between rider and dragon May run deep, an Emotional bond. What the rider feels the dragon feels, maybe that’s why they both disobeyed.
32:18 Dorne used scorpions to kill Aegon’s sister Rhaenys and her dragon during the conquest. It’s why her sigil in the opening sequence is a dragon skull with a bolt through its eye.
Remember when King Viserys told young Rhaenyra that Targeryen's ability to control dragons is just an illusion, it's a power they never should have messed with. This episode was the perfect example of this. Dragon's are uncontrollable beasts and they will ALWAYS choose their instincts over command.
ok, now it's just frustrating, i know most reactors miss things cause their first time watching and they get distracted with jokes and stuff, but I literally watch this show once, and I catch most of what folks see, here there were subtitles. This show lays seeds here and there and call backs, but for whatever reason people miss it. Reactions really have gone down over the years (in general not just here). How we see things affects our perspectives now and only think and see what we want.
They explained why they missed it, because they were doing a live Twitch stream and the subtitle was covered with Twitch UI
i think subtitles may have also covered the translations which can make it difficult to see both dragons are not playing. I had this problem as well.

Daemon's point was that he knows how those people think and act and they have been planning this war for years now. Now Rhaenys allowed them to live, and Rhaenyra didn't attack them immediately despite superior firepower yet at the first opportunity they murdered Lucerys.
The Dance of Dragons begins. Those traitor Hightowers betrayed the King and stole the Queens throne. They started a war they can't win. It's gonna be a long bloody road. Can't wait for the Starks and Winter Wolves. Greens ain't going to know what hit em. Otto started this whole war and got his family destroyed just so he didn't have to step down being Hand. All hail Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen!!! Time for the long wait for next season

Exactly. He was never supposed to be a good guy and the show made that perfectly clear. He is the monster that Rhaenyra needs, tho. Ruthless, unpredictable and intelligent, extremely capable as a fighter and general and arguably the best dragonrider at this point in the story.

14:47 the same theme that played after Rhaenyra saw the White Hart, again symbolizing she's the leader the realm is choosing. Erryk is giving me holy warrior vibes, almost like Rhaenyra is a joan of ark level holy queen in his eyes. This theme of her being protector of the realm is echoed in her lack of wanting to wage war. Specifically war with the dragons as the countryside will burn. Daemon wants to use them, almost like they're nukes, but she wants to protect the realm.
They end the season in such a sweet way. In a beautiful call back to the last line of the epilogue, "the only thing that can tear down the house of the dragon was itself." As Rhaenyra turns and looks like she's embraced the need to be a dragon.
