BIOGRAFIA:
Velesar - polski zespół folk metalowy i jeden z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych polskich przedstawicieli tego gatunku, głęboko zakorzeniony w słowiańskiej historii i kulturze. Laureat 1. miejsca w plebiscycie "Wirtualne Gęśle" na folkowy album roku 2021 za płytę "Szczodre Gody".
Formacja została założona w Cieszynie w 2018 r. (początkowo jako projekt solowy) przez Marcina Velesara Wieczorka - byłego wokalistę zespołów Goddess of Sin (2001-2007) i Radogost (2010-2014), a także twórcę kapeli River of Time (2014-2018). Narodziła się z fascynacji słowiańską kulturą i historią oraz z zamiłowania zarówno do muzyki metalowej, jak i folkowej. Główne inspiracje czerpie ze słowiańskiej mitologii, pradawnych wierzeń i obrzędów, ale także baśni i legend będących pozostałością bogatego dziedzictwa kulturowego dawnych Słowian.
6 lipca 2019 r. odbyła się premiera pierwszego albumu Velesara "Dziwadła". W jego nagraniu wzięli udział muzycy między innymi takich formacji, jak: Percival Schuttenbach, Helroth, Radogost oraz River of Time. Drugi album kapeli, zatytułowany "Szczodre Gody", ukazał się 1 października 2021 r.

BIOGRAPHY:
Velesar - Polish folk metal band and one of the most famous Polish representatives of this musical genre, deeply rooted in Slavic history and culture. Winner of the 1st place in the "Wirtualne Gęśle" plebiscite for the folk album of the year 2021 for the album "Szczodre Gody".
The band was founded in 2018 in Cieszyn (initially as a solo project) by Marcin Velesar Wieczorek - a former vocalist of bands Goddess of Sin (2001-2007) and Radogost (2010-2014) and creator of band River of Time (2014-2018). The band was born out of the fascination with Slavic culture and history as well as the passion for metal and folk music. The main inspirations come from Slavic mythology, ancient beliefs and rituals but also fairy tales and legends that are a remnant of the rich cultural heritage of the Slavs.
On July 6, 2019, the first Velesar's album "Dziwadła" was premiered. The album was recorded with the participation of musicians from such bands as Percival Schuttenbach, Helroth, Radogost and River of Time. The band's second album, entitled "Szczodre Gody", was released on October 1, 2021.

Niestety, w połowie koncertu dowiedzieliśmy się, że musimy kończyć. Ale udało nam się jeszcze zagrać "Zmorę".

Very old school in a good way, fantastic song. Wish some of you guys could also translate the lyrics into English. The only thing I understood was do not be a naive something. I can make out individual words at times, because of the similarities in many Slavic languages. Anyway, very nice song!
Thank you very much! Generally, that was the point (and not only in this case) for the song to sound like old school. Lots of bands try to force something new and then that sounds awful. When it comes to translating our texts into English, it is very difficult. First of all, because we often use old Polish words that have no English equivalents. It's the same with names of gods, Old Slavic holidays and rituals or creatures from Slavic legends. For example: "Zmora" can be translated as "Nightmare". But it's not exactly the same... But especially for you, we will try to translate this text (using a translator). It will be a loose translation, with no rhymes. 😁

These are the old woman's ways!

PS.: The last stanza is very difficult to translate logically because it's such a rhyme (here the inspiration was a children's rhyme appearing in films from series "A Nightmare on Elm Street) and besides, these are old Slavic ways to overcome and get rid of the Nightmare.
