    ‪@PolygonBikesMedia‬ is a brand that knows a thing or two about delivering great performance for the money, so we were interested to see how their Collosus N8E would stack up against the four other eBikes below $6k in our 2024 eMTB Shootout. Having enjoyed the performance of the Collosus N8E in the past, we had an inclination that it would fare well, and weren’t disappointed as it comfortably handled the punishment during our time at Howler Bike Park.
    2024 EMTB SHOOTOUT SERIES - The Polygon Collosus N8E was one of 14 eBikes that our staff thoroughly tested with absolute objectivity in mind. From different types of riders to terrain, our goal is to present the best and most honest information possible to help you make your best decision. Of course, we’d love to thank Fox Racing and Schwalbe Tires for being invaluable partners to this series and making it happen and to Howler Bike Park for hosting us for our testing.

    Nice review.
    I have had this bike for a few months, but its my first ebike so cant compare it to much.
    Ive only had two issues. The fox 38 needs tearing down from new to get all that excess grease off the air shaft from factory.
    The other issue is the wheels. I had the rear hub blow up after only a coupe rides. Multiple dings on the rear wheel, and have also had the spokes come loose on the rear wheel mutiple times.
    I do ride it hard and am not the lightest rider, but i ride my trek slash even harder and have never had an issue with the carbon wheels that came with.
    I think all it needs is new wheels and I shouldnt have to upgrade anything else.

    Why did you guys stopped including the bikes weight on the bike description?
    Some people don't care...while many others do. Does it hurt, in any way to show it?

    So I've had this bike for 6 months now and found higher cadence really helps keep you from getting hung up on steep climbs with roots/ledges. I noticed in the video it looks like y'all are at ~70rpm while climbing, do any of your testers spool up to the 100-110 range? I've hit 125rpm on some and it makes the assistance almost comically strong. On one nasty climb I was laughing out loud the whole way up, e-bikes are freaking awesome!

      @bfranco1519 Mount Bromo is a historic for Indonesia active volcano. Fun fact, the name's root is the same as for the word "stink" in Greek. So...yeah, lots of weird jokes could come in mind.

    I have this ebike and in my experience it’s a phenomenal bike. I’m glad to see a real review on it.
    Edit- after watching the full video I agree on your points. I’m 5’7 and to me the bike feels great but because of that seat angle I agree that it isn’t a great fit for taller fellas. Personally I didn’t like the magic Mary’s that came with it and swapped them out for Maxxis assegai 2.5 and dhrII 2.4 which imo is a better tire setup for this bike.

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Месяц назад

      Right on thanks for sharing! Did you run the 2.6 Mary's or try sizing down to 2.4 Mary? We've found that we're gravitating towards narrower tires and away from 2.6.

    • @mtbntaco66
      @mtbntaco66 Месяц назад +1

      @@TheLoamWolf it came with 2.6’s stock and ran them but felt they didn’t have the grip for my local trails that are loose over hard. I took a couple spills because of lack of grips. To me the 2.6’s made it harder to throw the bike where you wanted it and require more leaning. Dropping them down to 2.5 and 2.4 definitely changed those characteristics.

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Месяц назад

      Those are definitely some of the reasons we're riding the 2.4 Marys. You look like an off-roader, something we try to correlate is airing down their 4x4s for sand. Lower air pressure, wider footprint means you'll have more floatation right?
      Mountain bike tires floating rather than penetrating or sticking to the ground is not ideal! haha.

      Interesting, I think the MM's are awesome and at 20psi feel like the traction is great, but I ride on more clay with chunky rocks, roots, and ledges.

    It’s a pity that this bike didn’t think about tall people who don’t need 435 mm rear seatstays..

      The majority of the competition does 27.5 "mullet" to settle with even longer rear centers. For a 29" rear, the rc is impressively short, practically the same or shorter than on reg. bikes with that travel. Not as refined as a Yeti, but impressive nonetheless.
