This has to be the ultimate Klezmer clarinet performance. Technique in the service of great spirit. How could anyone ever top this? Now I've heard it all.
Not to take anything away from this masterful performance, but listen to Giora himself. The classical technique the above performance is superb, but Giora's mastery of Klezmer articulations is unmatched. ruclips.net/video/w2h4qXNNT_Q/видео.html
For a lot of classical music I have to say "this deserves more views", but here I can just appreciate that half a million people have listened to this great piece.
+FieryCarnisphere Klezmer is a category of its own. It's a mix between Jazz, Classical in my opinion. The clarinetist is using some very unconventional techniques such as growling, which is often frowned upon by clarinetists. I don't mean this to be a criticism because I loved it.
C@ptain_Jack You're absolutely right, it's not exactly classical. I have to be more careful when I use the word "classical". To a lot of my friends classical is everything that's not pop music and I sometimes find myself using that simplification in my everyday speech.
tonguing is one of the most difficult techniques for clarinet. I have been playing the clarinet for 7 years, and it was like one of the obstacles I have had to overcome with extra effort.
yeah... I've been playing for 2 years now... and the higher we go, the more difficult it gets... I'm very bad at tonguing... but it's ok... I'm a 2 years old!! :)
Yeah, for me this is 7th year of playing clarinet and I must say it's really difficult. Especially if you playing this tipe of music( clarinet polka for example)
Many clarinetists have heard so far had not heard someone playing the clarinet like . my most coordial Martin Frost greeting from Mexico City.

You miss so much on a mere recording; this has been my favorite piece for years, but I actually got to see Martin Fröst perform it with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra at Trinity Lutheran Church on Oct. 9th. It was amazing!!
IMMENSE ARTISTE, QUELLE BELLE COMPLICITE AVEC LE VIOLONISTE QUI DOIT ETRE UN BON COPAIN; ILS SONT EPATANTS; quel talent. la musique klezmer nous transporte, elle est formidable.
You are welcome! Watch this year's live concerts at Verbier Festival on our website! Martin Fröst played on July 25th and his concert is still available in free replay.
I just came back from the LA Phil where Fröst played this as an encore to a new Aho Clarinet Concerto. His playing was breathtaking and I definitely plan to follow him more and catch up on his recordings.
A concert master is the first chair violinist. The fact that they sit in the first chair left side of the conductor is merely a coincidence. Also, the concert master's name is Giovanni Guzzo, if anyone cares.
Hello! This was just an encore, it's Giora Feidman "Let's be happy". Martin Fröst will play live on mediciTV's website on November 23rd, join us on our website (see in infos below the video).
Mr. Rohan...it´s probably a Bb-clarinet and the model is Buffet.Tosca...a most wonderful instrument, it certainly is in the hands of mr. Martin Fröst !!
@IMASIANSNIPA He regularly changes his equipment. I've read he plays Rico Reserve 3.5+ Reeds. He already used Vandoren B40, Kanter, Chadash/Hill mouthpieces. I can't say what he used for this recording. He also used different clarinets the last years: Buffet RC Prestige, Buffet Festival, since some years he often uses Buffet Tosca (in this video too). His newest CD (11/2011) he used a Buffet R13, but in concerts he still uses a Tosca. A-clarinet he often used a Cadash (or a Buffet Tosca).
I think they were asking about the closest guy playing the violin at the end, since concert master usually refers to the leader of the first violin section of an orchestra.
Tell me if i'm wrong, but i believe that schylarker is talking about when it sounds like a vibration. Like at 2:37. Double tonguing is when you use your tongue and airflow in a way that you can produce faster articulation. But not fast enough to produce two notes at the same time.
By Jove, the man can play!! But this is also a perfect example of people feeling the joy of music-making. I always put this video on, whenever I feel sad or depressed. It really works!!
I met Fröst outside "the Systembolaget" in Stockholm this year ( Systembolaget is the store in Sweden were you buy licker and beer. Even Martin Fröst likes party every once and a while! i like that :)
@fatpig33 actually, you can time flutter-tonguing to match how fast your fingers are changing the notes; also, reviewing the section, it sounds like he uses both double- and triple-tonguing techniques
The man playing the violin is absolutely adorable. He seems to enjoy it so much!
most enthusiastic violinist ever?
Neil Cameron probably :) haha
Yeah, probably the first violinist I've ever seen who doesn't take himself too seriously and seems to be enjoying playing.
Yeah he seems to enjoy it a loooot !
Are they both have Jewish blood in their veins?
get you a man that looks at you the way the concert master looks at Martin Fröst😂👌
Lol 😂😂😂😂
wbqcnsablbfdsnskpohc
Agree
Love the first violin, magic smile
me too 😁😁😁

its true

I love how this video is more about the concertmaster
it was all incredible but 2:30 had me truly amazed. Martin is incredible. i'm such a big fan!
For a lot of classical music I have to say "this deserves more views", but here I can just appreciate that half a million people have listened to this great piece.
Yet over four million people have watched anaconda… :(
*four hundred million

You must be playing for 11 years now 성주... are you planning on playing clarinet for your career?
My favourite thing is the first violins reaction - this music is just pure emotion! Martin Frost can seemingly play everything!
I love the man with the smile 😄❤️
melissa ramirez gomez Its a boyfriend of Martin Fröst))
yeeesss hahaha
and what's his name? :D
His smile is contagious!!
@@clairefournel Giovanni Guzzo
The way he makes that Clarinet sing is just amazing. He doesn't just make a wonderful sound, but alters it at the same time.
AMAZING!! His emotion and his technique are absolutely breathtaking!!!! Maybe the best performance on clarinet i've EVER seen!!
Martin Fröst was both playing and conducting...! See in infos below the video, you can watch the concert on the website medicitv
Coolest concertmaster ever!
Martin’s performance vividly portrays the joy and passion of a nation.
Absolutely fantastic, he portrays skills most people can only dream about.
Many clarinetists have heard so far had not heard someone playing the clarinet like .

the best part of this video is how much fun the orchestra is having while playing with martin
That one violin player looks like he is having the time of his life xD!
The excerpt starts after the ad. Thank you.
You miss so much on a mere recording; this has been my favorite piece for years, but I actually got to see Martin Fröst perform it with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra at Trinity Lutheran Church on Oct. 9th. It was amazing!!
I sympathize with the first violin lol
btw that articulation on the clarinet is CRAZY
Is he triple-tonguing?
From what I know he is just ridiculous at double tonguing as with every clarinet technique there is.
Martin Fröst doesn't double toungue if he doesnt have to.
The piece would be in compound time if he was triple tounging
You can do triple tounge with " da ga ta" but I believe its just really insane double
Nope, just a CRAZY double
I hope I can achieve that one day
What a dream
IMMENSE ARTISTE, QUELLE BELLE COMPLICITE AVEC LE VIOLONISTE QUI DOIT ETRE UN BON COPAIN; ILS SONT EPATANTS; quel talent. la musique klezmer nous transporte, elle est formidable.
Look at the orchestra smiling!! that makes me so happy! and now i can't help but smile even more! (but i don't blame them, he is incredible!)
The musician smile that means the music is just play as good as can effect their feeling
I feel like I haven't ever heard clarinet before this day. I'm speechless! I aspire to be as great as him.
Pure delight listening to this and watching the performance from one and all.
Happiest 3 minutes of my day
everyone in the orchestra smiles :)
and so do I as i listen this over and over and over :)
This performance makes me so unbelievingly happy its ridiculous!
I very rarely re-watch anything on youtube, but I just keep on watching this.
Klezmer is not screaming! It is music to the ears for many, many beautiful people who have lived through much!
Unglaublich!
Fantastique!!! Brillante interprétation !
he made the clarinet a violin ..absolutely amazing !
They're all so into it! Love it! Fantastic clarinet playing as well.
I agree with the emotion of the violonist x) he looks so happy to play with such a genius!

Simply the best clarinet player ever
An excellent performance!
This man is phenomenal. He puts my clarinet skills to shame...
