Back in 91 I bought one just like that. Same color and drive train. Paid $1200 for it, rebuilt the carb, put duals on it, new tires and drove it 5 years with no problems. Wish I still had it. In Febuary of 2104 I bought a 1965 Galaxie 2 door fastback with the 352 and Cruise O Matic . I have 2 newer cars, but the 65 is still my favorite and gets driven about 22000 miles a year. Those old Galaxies are great cars.
I had a 1963 and a half Galaxie 500 with a 390 4 Barrel 4 speed dual exhaust. It was the first car I owned wish I still had it.
That is what it is supposed to look like under a hood. Just a motor and not a lot of junk you don't need.
For the price a man could have a good time with that car. And still afford to make it whatever you want.
@@stevelong3281 yeah, nope. This is a REAL GALAXIE 500!! MY dad had one of these fordor Galaxies and his was a 500 too. Look closer, and if you can't tell the difference then you need more research on your part.
Steve , you are referring to the Galaxy 500 XL , do your research
Sleeper. Wouldn't change the outside. Coyote the shit out of it, still sport the wheel covers or some iteration thereof (diff rims) to accommodate bigger rubber.
Steve , hate to break it to you , but you are WRONG , know it all asshole , look it up HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS , gives all the trim packages , engine sizes , etc . In the future , if you dont know the facts , then just STFU and let the grown up people talk
@@stevelong3281 the 500 XL HAD the 4 speed on the floor and was an up grade from the GALAXIE 500. So unless you have something else smart too say,
What a trip down memory lane. I had the same car but blue on blue back in 1975. It was like I was driving it in the video. Thanks for the ride.
I grew up in a GM family, but I have always loved the 2-door "fastback" body style of these Galaxie 500's! Years ago I worked with a guy who had a white '63 Galaxie like this one, but rusty, it had a small V8 and the Ford-O-Matic 2-speed automatic transmission! Great cars, one suggestion if I may, Nick Southgate, I thoroughly enjoy your videos and test drives, but please, at some point when you're on your test drive, please pull out and accelerate normally, so we can hear the automatic transmission shift itself! Thanks for another great test drive video!
Thank you
Love the ole land yachts, had an old 64 Olds jetstar 88, ran forever, nice straight pipe tune. Thanks Nick.
My first car was a nice '64 Ford Custom 4 door, white with blue interior, 289 3 speed, 43K miles. Sweet car, bought it in May, 1968, for $735. Traded it in in the summer of 1970 on a '69 Mercury Cyclone Cobra Jet 428, 4speed, bucket seats, Cragar SS mags that I paid $2400 for. Wish I had both cars now.
Closes the door NOT on the glass= true car guy. Nice one Nick
What a beauty that is! Merry Christmas to you from France!
I like those 1964s. My dad has had one for a majority of my life, z code car. I have a 63 Fairlane wagon and a 65 LTD 2Dr hardtop. One of these days I’ll get one to have some consecutive years.
Most underrated classic Ford ever
That interior is so comfy looking , if you used the car for road trips just sleep in it & save on motel bills ☺️
I had a 65 Galaxie drop top with a 390 and 3 speed on the tree....man the memories.
65 is when they made them Square. Like the sleek look of the 64.
I have a 67 galaxie fastback iv been working on for 5 years. I love it head turner
That was my first car 64 Ford Galaxy 500 50 years ago I was just a kid bought it use for $300 it lasts me 4-years it was a 3-speed automatic I even took it on a long road trips with no problem.
One of the things that I miss the most, about living in Nashville is, driving by your all’s lot
I like it nick, would enjoy getting out on sunday and go for a long cruise here in uk.
Nice car!!!! You finally got in an early 60s Galaxie! I wish you would find more id like one with a 390 and Torque thrust mags or Cragar 5 spokes !!!!
Absolutely beautiful !! it looks like this car is in original condition !!!! She is a cruiser for sure !!! And I just love the sound of them pipes !!! 💯🇺🇸🦅🗽👍
My first car when I was 16 in 1969 was a bronze ‘64 with a 3 on tree 289. It was a reliable car...good in the snow. When I was a senior I bought a ‘68 Galaxy 500 XL with a 390. Lime green with black top.
Great car. This time of year I would take the heat over the horn 😂
It was pretty cool looking car.
Absolutely beautiful!
My first car was a 1963 galaxy 500 with the 289 v8. Great car. Not a fast car by any means, but a good car. Had problems on mine with rear springs.
The 64 is hands down the best looking year for the Galaxie.
Merry Christmas an happy new year for you all too!!
Same to you!
Of all the cars I've seen at Maple Motors...this is the one I would buy. I could get me some
Fi' Hun' !
Last year of the round taillights for Ford’s. From 1965-1968, squared off and another beautiful style, then 1969 began the vanilla cookie cutter full-sized Ford’s that went on for years afterwards.
Yeah, ya know what, I had a 1969 Ford LTD Brougham that was one of the nicest cars I have ever owned, fordor hard top with a 390 and Cruiseomatic. Really nice car. No cookie cutter here. You must be thinking of gms STOGY OLD MANS GERIATRIC MOTORS!!
so cool ,parents had one, black with red int. 390 with auto. but what a beginning 64 galaxie with a 64 impala in the back drop. the 2 best cars in 1964 together in 2020 looking too cool
Fyi, you got it half right, the coolest cars to come out in 1964 was of course the 1964 Galaxie 500 XL and the 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang. Nice try though.
Beautiful car and bet you could put new piston rings in it easier and faster than changing spark plugs in some of the newer cars. With just a little work I would not care to drive this car anywhere. One good thing is when you get ready to trade or sell it will still be worth something , not like buying a new car where you loose most all of what you paid for it. Glade it is done sold saves me a trip to Hendersonville TN,
Sounds like it has a burnt valve or needs a tune up
I can hear it sucking back to you may be correct.
Very beautiful amazing car beautiful colour thanks Nick have a very nice day
Nice ride! My brothers first car was a 63 Galaxy 500 with a 390 and 4 speed.
Two 2dr 500 sounds real good. Put a set of American Racing and T/A radials on that thing and ride.
They look really good with a set of Magnum 500 or Ford styled steel wheels with a set red line Goodyears or Uniroyals. Take your pick. Fords Total Performance. Thank you very much.
Man that is one sexy ride. The only thing that would make it better is if it had a 390 😉😁👍
If you had that today I’d be down there tomorrow to buy it
folks got a new one paid around 2000.00 had a 352 cu in and was the car i took my driving test at the dmv for my first drivers license
Someone got a deal. That's a dream car to me
I love this ford galaxy 1964 the year I was born
My friend burt had 1 them he bought from an old lady in 1996 it was cherry and a 1 legged monster!
Great video Nick brings back some good and bad memories, my Dad had a red 64 with a 390 and 4 speed.
My brother had 1 when I was about 13 that was about 50 years ago white with blue interior automatic on the floor with a 289. Bucket seats im not a Ford man but if I find 1 like my brother had I'll but it. And that was in Supreme condition he bought in 1970. After he came home from Vietnam.
Those galaxys are fun to drive !
It's Galaxie's!! Pay attention!!
I had 3 of those, definitely a decent deal. Those were famous for bad upper control bushings. The drum brakes should stop the car well if they are in proper order.
Easy to make the suspension right, get the parts at a reasonable price via ROCK AUTO
I have my 64 on my channel This seems like a really good deal.
Just another beautiful classic car. Love the thumbnail of the Galaxie sitting next to a Impala from the same era...
Nice car 🏁
Nice looking driver. No rear view mirror?
What engine did it have? Thanks…
Where do you find all the nice cars.Im thinking about buying one from you.
Individuals normally , thanks for watching
This car shorter then a 2door 64 impala?
New paint fix horn and fuel gague and drop a 390 in the puppy. Ill be there 😁
Lust Factor: HIGH
Why is half the cars on RUclips aren't on your website?
Cause they are either sold or not for sale till Jan 4th. You must be talking about the background cars on the lot. Thanks for watching
Love the price
Low tire pressure would make it pull a little.
Nice car 👍👍👍
Leaded fuel or not ?
Cool car all the time 👍👍👍👍🇺🇲🇺🇸
Thanks
Let's see a falcon
Im not a ford man! 6.0 diesel screwed that up! But this was price to sale!
🥰🥰🥰 9500$ ohhh Jesus
9500 is a tad steep for a daily with nothing working..needs a brake job and front end work...FYI...@ 3:57 ..you drove the whole test drive with the heater control set to off...if it was blowing you out with the heater theres a control valve/panel replacement in the future
Man I want that64
If it said 17. And it looks like an original 289. That would be 117000. Correct?
Yes , very well could be but I can’t prove it
You got me thinking, I got mine of a one owner with 57k original 289...
@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate ..from the condition it's at least 117k...that being said it's a great starting point for a restomod or daily...9500 is a tad steep though
Nice
Like your videos. You do a good job. Like the car, but it has way too many issues for 10k. Not near original condition either.
WTFDUK???
Sounds like valve popping, may need a valve job
Sounds like you need a hearing aid, AYE!!
🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
How much for the 64 Impala
The red one
@@jerryspringer5276 WTFC?
Oh yes its a galaxie
Needs an engine rebuild; quick.
Soumds like it has a miss
got a miss at exhaust
🤪👍👍👍
7k plus fees all day long
We are firm on the price , thanks for watching
@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate wasn't an offer, thanks
Blowing smoke, nothing works, typical Ford . . . (Sorry couldn't resist)
WTFIWWU???
@@markreisen7038 I'm a GM guy. Spent too many times broke down on the side of the rode staring at that stupid blue oval . . .
