I hate to say this, but musicians tend to know there is in circulation to that opening viola melody a rather profane set of words, but mercifully i will refrain from quoting them...^^ My own version is silly, rather than vulgar--- > "Taaake, your fingers from your naw-strils..." (^-_-^) Seriously, Jim-Bob is awesome. Slack-jawed admiration... though there is no way i would ordinarily let my beginning violin and viola students position their bow-hand fingers, or left-hand thumbs, the way "Dr. J." (Ehnes) does. Hehehe.
I marvel at your unique playing quality on both small and medium viols, more so that others who play both. Would love for a video of you talking about mastering that duality.
Originally the melody instrument part was written for clarinet, but the viola version of said part was written by Brahms as well. However, whether that was done at the same time, just after, or somewhat later, is something about which i am unclear...
I can only hope that oneday I might be able to produce such sweet, sonorous and clear sounds as James Ehnes does. A true master of our time.
😊
Strad helps.

@@ColinWrubleski-eq5sh I see left thumb positioning like that a lot these days , in good players…
What a joy to hear a Stradivari Viola singing so sweetly~!

Boy, what a pleasure to listen to in every way.
If chocolate-flavored vodka had a sound, I imagine that it would be something like this. Truly delicious and intoxicating.

What are your tips on maintaining intonation integrity on both instruments when you're switching between the two?
Practicing (correct practicing and quality practicing) 😆 I remembered there has a podcast about practicing and Ehnes, he was a guest in that podcast.
Como puedo conseguir mas vudeis de este violinista tocando la viola ?
(Male) Hilary Hahn of the Viola.

비올라가 웁니다…
바이올린과 비올라를 능수능란하게 다루는 제임스 에네스는 우리시대 진정한 비르투오조입니다.
옛 소련의 거장 다비드 오이스트라흐를 연상케 합니다.
So nice i did 30 years ago also very nice i guess ha ha
This instrument is incredible! As is your playing...
But, why are you playing with a clone of yourself? /jk
From 1696 just the wood, not even the varnish
Doesn't sound like fun)
