      in case you were wondering i was a corm is a rounded underground storage organ present in plants such as crocuses, gladioli, and cyclamens, consisting of a swollen stem base covered with scale leaves.

    I don't know why but I never even thought of chopping chicken thighs for this! My thoughts immediately went to the yucky pre packaged ground chicken breast. Love it! Thanks chef john.

    I made this today. It turned so good. Your recipes are easy to follow and turn out great. I didn't feel guilty about eating so much since I ate it with lettuce.

    This is my third time preparing this and if u dont want to go with the trouble of chopping the chicken just get ground chicken its super good as well. Hope this can help! Its save me some time. Ty @chefjhon its a wonderful recipe.

    I made these today for lunch and my husband absolutely loved them! My daughter dropped over and had a few to and she also loved them. Ps My husband hates mushrooms and he still loved this dish.

    I tried this recipe last night, but I didn't have water chestnuts so I substituted crushed peanuts. I also used honey instead of brown sugar.
    End result: They were awesome!

    I love these with bean sprouts,thinly cut carrots and cucumbers.Taste great with red cabbage cups as well.Yummy soo good.

    07-Jun-2020 I tried your recipe & it turned out real yummy & authentic .
    I also made One portion with Cottage Cheese cut in cubes for Vegetarian guest, just replaced Chicken part from recipe with Cottage cheese cubes ... Excellent taste. 😋 Thanks

    Oh yum - that chicken mixture would go so well in many things. Bread, pasta, rice, etc. I would go for a nice crusty bread roll... drool.

    Great recipe. I started with bone in and skin on chicken thighs, I cut the skins into strips, cooked until crispy an used and we added them on top for some crunch. I thought it was a great addition.

    OMG this looks soo good!!!!!!!!!!! I would do everything you did, even the rattish on top. but i would put a couple diced onions on the top for garnish not much, just a little for taste, this looks delicious

    I'm growing butter types of lettuce in my garden this year and I bet they would work, even if icebergs are the preferred lettuce type.

    I did this for dinner tonight with a few alterations, pork mince instead of chicken, vegetable oil instead of toasted sesame oil (just couldn't find any of that in my pantry), white whine vinegar instead of rice wine vinegar. However my family wolfed the lot down and everyone commented on how nice it was. Definitely worth a go!

    Made it last night, came out excellent. Going to change the chili to something that pairs even better with the sweet taste and use romaine lettuce "boats" instead of iceberg next time, otherwise would not change anything else. Great recipe, Chef!

    Thank you for this recipe, Chef John. The lettuce wraps were the only thing that was any good when my husband and I went there a few years ago for my birthday. Well, the plum wine was good, but they don't really control that.

    I've seen several copy cat recipes of these lettuce wraps. I have YET to see someone include the water chestnuts and yellow onion. Haven't tried it yet, but having worked at the "Chinese Restaurant" you were referring to . . . this recipe looks spot on!!! Thank you!!!

    How do I make toasted sesame oil? I have a top loading toaster, but it made a huge amount of smoke when I poured in the sesame oil. Is there another way?

      Christine SugarMagic I've checked around and t seems you simply can't toast sesame oil in a top loading toaster; you need the front loading type. I friend said that I might be able to use an oven set to broil.

      I find a toastie maker works perfectly. Alternatively put it on a baking tray and place under the grill.
