This is great my only complaint is that this just makes those gaps in the hood even worse and the hood feels too tall. I have no clue how to fix them myself so props for trying.
@@bengibson6710 I was thinking sarcasm too but the brick separator is fine for most things. Lego also includes a minifigure crowbar piece sometimes to help remove things that a separator can't reach

@@Miggy738 I know what you mean. Ever since I smoothed it out I've kept trying to get in it to take me to work. I feel like such a fool when I remember again that it's just Lego 😯
I have seen a ton of moc vids of this skyline but in every one of them it turns into a muscle car The problem with this is that the car turns from 8 studs to 7 on the hood part bcuz of the 3 stripes so it becomes harder to change the fundamentals of it and most ppl just add flat pieces on top of the hood but imo the best way to fix the car is either to saw off the studs (lol) or cover the entire hood with a single large flat piece and use stickers to replace the blue stripes
I can’t find the corner pieces for the hood in my collection. Where should I buy them? I looked on the pick a brick at my Lego store and online and I dandy find them and bricklink is way to confusing.
Incredible. Your work has refined the overall piece, and it looks spectacular. Impressive. I would also respectfully suggest Using 4 individual lego pieces that are smooth vertical bars about 4 studs long and they are a dark blue translusent colour. The ones used on the lego city police car that represent the blue light sirens. I would use those pieces and place them underneath the car where the 8 studs are running along both sides of the car between the wheels. I would place them there to replicate the dark neon blue light that emanates from underneath the car and can be seen from the sides in the movie on the real car.
It looked great in the thumbnail but I don't think I'd be happy with this as the final version. I still think the studded official version doesn't look great but I feel like the gaps in this would bother me more
This is a good mod, although you're sacrificing accuracy in some places for accuracy in others. Im just gonna wait for lego to release the newest speed champions fender (1 stud thinner, would allow plates on top) in light grey
What you should do, is in description....list the parts, their number/description and their EXACT ID number...be much easier for those that wish to replicate this process. Thanks for this video, Ill be doing this to mine as well.
I'm waiting new wheel arch from pagani utopia to make a proper mod. Your mod Is better than lego version but i think Is a little bulky on the front. Anyway, good job!
Nice video. I like your creativity to make the car better. Continue with your ideas! :) However i do not like that sad music in a lego video. I turned off the sound. Smoother? Yes. But you also made it look nothing like a skyline. If you don't think the designers thought about tiling off the hood, you didn't think it through. If anything this video should be called "how to make the skyline look like a mustang".

Guess this now makes it preference of smooth or less gapage
@@cristianojeda2418 not so much anymore I've seen a lot of MOCS now that smooth it out and reduce the gaps

For removing parts, there are brick seperators! rhey either come with a big set or at your "local" lego store for around 3 euro

This set did not actually come with a brick separator. Thankfully I had 3 extras 😂
I'm thinking sarcasm, however, the lego brick separators are not exactly the most helpful tool, I prefer a tiny screwdriver and pliers myself.
@@bengibson6710 I was thinking sarcasm too but the brick separator is fine for most things. Lego also includes a minifigure crowbar piece sometimes to help remove things that a separator can't reach
@Joe Victor hmmmmm I don't have the crowbar, or maybe I do in my box of minifigure spares.

They're making all the Speed Champions 2 seater now it seems.
Bro, I'm not saying it isn't look cleaner, but that hood looks like a muscle car one

The exposed studs really bothered me on this kit. I love what you did
Awesome, thanks 😀
I didn’t mind because it reminds you it’s Lego at the end of the day, and it keeps the authenticity of it imo.

I dig the way the set came with stock, this mod kind of makes the car bulky on the spoiler and hood, which does not apply to the real car.
You're not wrong 🙌
Just bought all the pieces on bricklink including what Clinton in the comments recommended. Cant wait to build it!
Good old Clinton. Enjoy 😁🙌

Pick a brick from Lego is terrible. Bricklink is your best resource - search the Parr number, not name 👌

Really good build it looks great 😊
It was free to use 😳
Lego needs to hire some MOC people like you to review sets and make needed adjustments before the final project.
They couldn't afford me 🤣
Haven't built mine yet but this is what will be happening thank!
looks amazing, this is how the set should have been from the start.
Where do you get these extra pieces though??
space the doors out 1 tile for cleaner sides, dual exhaust.
Oh this became old news months ago 😅
Looks good but the mods in the stripe hood dont seem necessary.
I absolutely agree 😀
They got these orange clipper things apparently they’re supposed to help remove parts or does it not work? Haven’t tried yet
Someone once called them piece pullers - I liked that name.
I can't find one of these anywhere! Did all the scalpers in the u.s. get them

I added a 1x8 tile for the side skirt

You can get all the parts from just buying another one, right
No, they have to be purchased from a site like bricklink.com
Bro, ever heard of the Brick Seperator?
Check out my latest short 🙌
where did you buy the new pieces ?
many of those pieces are not on the lego website
Bricklink is much more reliable than lego.com 👍

Thanks 👌
Both Lego and Mega make brick separator tools that come in their big sets. The Mega tool is more versatile, accurate and easier to use.

Love everything about this but I do think the hood above the lights is a little too rounded on this, takes away it’s iconic boxy shape
