I don't think you know a lot about exit signs. What you have is OLD incandescent metal AC only Emergi-Lite exit signs. Nowadays exit signs are plastic, LED, and have battery backup. Older signs you have to break out, now it's snaps, you can snap it in and out. Also if the power goes out the battery inside will keep the unit on for 90 minutes or more. To test them there is a button on the bottom of the sign or on the side of it, and when you press it, it will cut the power to the unit, simulating a power outage, and turn on the battery.

Maybe there is 5 critical things about an exit sign. The last 2 is how the sign have battery backup and the 5th is how it can run over 30 and 90 minutes. Besides. Signs have breaker to make sure they can immediately test all the lights to switch on into battery backup in case there is a fire or the power outage and all the lights gone out, the sign illuminated still and the emergency mode comes on in the emergency lights. It’s almost false information.
it's an AHJ-AUTHORITY HOLDING JURISDICTION. Also, it's your insurance company you need to be concerned with, not the AHJ. AHJ's don't pay out on claims if you ever have one.

lmfao..So... they are not powered from the breaker panel?? lol well as a master electrician for 25 years, that's news to me.. lol what do you do jimmy? screw the wire to the main bus? lol it is to be on 1 dedicated "life safety" circuit. lol fire laws in America are like living in india. so backwards. I mean you can run non protected, flammable fire notification wire in free air. lol it will be the first thing to burn. backwater...
What do you mean they can't be turned off by a breaker, yes they can!! Just because they're hard wired with on a constant hot doesn't mean they can't be turned off. Some buildings have a generator panels just for the exit signs and emergency lights. Obviously your not an electrician stop acting you know what you're doing cause you don't .
6AD 6ARZ they should be wired directly to the power system and not a switch that wired in so when the power goes out, the battery inside will power it and someone can’t just turn an exit sign off.

I just uploaded a video of my exit sign in the house. I'm thinking about switching over to LED bulbs which I do discuss.
