Gets me crying everytime.
I know this is sooooo much later than when you posted this comment, but I have this theory that everyone has their own individual relationship with time and most people haven't discovered it which is why I think people often feel "time just gets away from you". Those that have learned to have a relationship with their time, find ways to "be its friend" and in a sense actually slow it down. I dunno, I'm also stoned 🤣. I mean, perception IS reality after all.
I met this young lady when I was a Banker for Wells Fargo in Rahway NJ when she was about 16, she sang for my boss and I and I cried back then. I’m so glad she made it!!!

@@kendall7086 yes made it. She sings on broadway. She sang in a classic iconic movie with well known stars on the most watched channel in the country in front of millions of people. So yes, I’d say she made it.

It’s a general rule not to use a song from the show you’re auditioning for. Definitely not a song that the role you’re auditioning for sings.
@@MattWeisherComposer not at our theater company we choose our songs that we sing and in all my other auditions and I sung a song from the show they had no problem, and also there is nothing in the audition info that says anything using a song from the show
well that’s fine if it’s your local theatre company, but as you get older and go audition more professionally, it’s always best to stay away from songs that are in the musical you’re auditioning for

this young lady is SPECTACULAR -- i could watch this video over and over again !!
She came into this with such big shoes to fill. After all, Stephanie Mills iconic performance of Home is, for many of us, the pre-eminent rendition. Later attempts have been met with a skepticism at best and contempt at worse (yes, I'm looking at you Diana Ross) Shaniece Williams did not disappoint. In fact, she created her own, craveable iconic version. I've listened to the stephanie original a million times. It may be the novelty of having a Fresh version on par with that, but i find myself choosing to this rendition now when I wanna hear Home. That is so very real to me.
Diana Ross was phenomenal
I think this was the most moving version I have ever heard.

Since this channel is clearly never going to upload "The Feeling We Once Had," here's a little fun fact: The woman playing Aunt Em at the very end of the clip is Stephanie Mills, and she originated the role of Dorothy on Broadway in 1974.

Genuinely asking, anyone know why they changed "snowflakes" to "rain drops"?. Glee did this too, is it the broadway version?
The movie changed the line from rain drops to snowflakes because of the setting change. The Wiz (original) is still set in Kansas so "Rain drops" is the original line. "Snowflakes" was there to make up for the New York setting for Dorothy. In the movie they changed "tall grass" to "tall trees" as well,
