I always annoys me whenever people try to use charity as a solution to widespread problems, regardless of political position. Charities have never worked as the primary solution of societal problems and can never work, for the same reason government fails - it's a centralized solution that does not take into account the complexities of the economy. One such example are shoe manufacturers with a selling point that they donate a pair of shoes to african countries for each pair bought. Result: many shoe businesses went bankrupt because too many people stopped buying shoes.

She didn't argue properly here but Stossel's argument was logically flawed. An immoral action has to be illegal, and if it is the law will take it seriously enough to enforce it. Calling compassionate people "cruel" cause their bans lead to cruel people continuing to be cruel doesn't make sense. Rights groups aren't responsible for the actions of poachers and can't control how they act any more than enacting legislation against them. When animal hunting is outlawed, it will objectively make an impact by bringing legal attention to it and thus stopping the perpetrators. Stossel's logic is like saying we should make child trafficking legal cause people will be more motivated to do it if it's illegal.

Its been proven, and bore out n the facts and numbers that, conservation groups r what help our species. Its crazy how strong some people feel about PETA and similar groups but don't really look at what they do or how many animals they euthanize. Or how many animals r saved by culling out some of them. Elephants as an example. If u charge $75,000 to hunt a bull elephant who can no longer breed and has become destructive but, then use that money to support the elephants that can better the population numbers. Not to mention all the animals some groups like PETA "save", then euthanize them. But people donate money to idiots that willingly choose to put gorilla glue n their hair only to find out that's a really dumb idea, or black lives matter that takes almost 100% of their donations and gives it to politicians instead of worthy causes so, I'm not shocked people support things that don't help or even hurt the end goal.

In 2017, I volunteered in a rhino sanctuary. This particular place takes care of orphan rhinos that are left behind by poachers.
What they informed us was exactly what this video says. The best solution for poaching is the legalization of rhino horn trade. There were a bunch of rhino farmers ready to influx the market and also synthetic rhino horn is undetectable. Plus, it is possible to dehorn a rhino without hurting it as far as you don’t hit the nerve. Also, it will grow back (it’s made of keratin like your hair and nails).
Anyways, the message ion this video is 100% correct. And that’s also what was spread to the volunteers in the sanctuary I went to assist.

@Solaris it mostly didn’t work. It did decrease mass shootings, although Columbine still happened. The biggest failures I always see with mass shootings is people with guns letting the wrong people get them. Close to home, there was Santa Fe high school where the kid got it from his parents, also Sutherland Springs where the guy had some history of domestic violence (and went on to shoot up the place) but was still able to have one. The Parkland student also had serious problems seen by other students and was able to buy one legally. Sandy Hook, kid got it from his ... step mother? There’s a problem we’re not identifying here..
A friend was saying we can identify potential would-be serial killers with three symptoms and get them help (or isolation), why aren’t we identifying them now like those brats? Is it worth it not doing anything and lose a child or two?

Not that it’s always bad). Background checks, safeguarding our guns from unauthorized users, and investigating potential threats is a better way to go. That way people would be careful with who gets them, who may be a psychopath or criminal. I wish people could agree.

Their market is selling people a sense of moral superiority, much like the medieval catholic church selling indulgences. They have found a truly good cause, which is the conservation of wildlife, and milk it, convincing people that giving them and only them money will do good with that cause, and of course they're the only authority on the subject. Poaching creates demand for their "services", if it stops they go out of business. It's perfect capitalism, they are selling a product that has no production cost, no necessary delivery, a seemingly inexhaustible supply, a perpetual demand and is intangible, it's pretty much selling you the air that you breathe.
