I'm a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts and played almost all of the games except Melody of Memory (I'll get to it someday). Never played Talisman. I got the KH Talisman in March of last year, and then everything went down and my friend group hasn't been wanting to meet in person much (for good reason). We are trying to get into it in the next few weeks so this is a helpful video! I am bummed that Roxas, my favorite character, isn't in this game :/
@@AlxMar5 Oh awesome! Which titles are your favorite? I (Monique) have only played the first 2 main titles as well as "chain of memories." I really want to get back into the rest of the titles though! Yeah, unfortunately, no Roxas. I believe this one is based off of the original title alone.
Thanks for playing this! I really don’t like Talisman due to how random it is but I’ve been really tempted a few times because I love Kingdom Hearts. This showed me the game isn’t for me but I really enjoyed getting to see it and it’s always fun watching you guys. Thanks again!
I bought this game recently as kingdom hearts is one of my favourite games of all time, me and my girlfriend will be playing this soon, loved the video as well as I now find it easier to understand and play it
I can understand why this might have been a fun/good game 30/40 years ago, but nowadays it just all feels so random. Besides some fate tokens ( which seem hard to come by during the game) there is no mitigation. The "always move 1" house rule seems good, but at the same time it kinda breaks certain cards like that event Naveen flipped that gave one magic when landed on. It seems pretty smart to just hop on and off that for total 6 turns. There are just not enough actual gameplay choices to make for my taste.
Loved Kingdom Hearts, the videogame. I'm in the same boat: played KH1, haven't found the time for the sequels. The boardgame (Talisman) seemed really random. Looks like a fun game for children. I agree that the lore makes this game.
I like the theme of light and darkness. I wonder why this version of Talisman is being released now, I recall playing the original Kingdom Hearts quite some time ago
Hi, I started play the game yesterday with my friends, and I get jiminy cricket, is an event card, is real that big Malus for the player that get it?... I mean you lose all your allaies and you cant get more unltil you go to the disney castle, and is mean you need to land on Disney Casle, or just pass and remove the card? (sorry for my english, I'm Italian, I hope you understand the question)...
I just bought this game so I have a few questions or a lot lol at 45:00 He said mushu or mulan abilities does not add to the dial ? In this case the Mulans ability says add 1 to your magic and mushu says add 1 magic and attack. He said though it doesnt add you have to keep track of it? I disagree with that statement because that would mean other cards that add to the dial you would have to do the same thing. So what do you really do in this case can you explain ?
@@BeforeYouPlay Haha, well good luck with the gaming stuff! I'd give you a shout out over at my table top channel but I haven't don't much on that channel for years.
Pretty sure cards that say “If you LAND here” do not get resolved in the turn that they are drawn... so the Merlin card and Hades card should not have been resolved when u drew them.
Played Talisman in my teens. A friend had a few expansions and we played to the weeeeee hours ALL! the time. It was a game that introduced me to the dreaded Dungeons and Dragons roll playing game. If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t be doing what I do now, being an animator/visual artist.
@@BeforeYouPlay 👍my wife got this for me for Christmas the year it released and we love it! I read the rules like 3 times before we played and I watched the beginning of a couple play throughs they messed up rules too which is why I read the rules so many times 😁I’m glad u saw my comment and responded thank u! Btw my wife loves the game and she doesn’t even play video games just goes to show that kingdom hearts can be for anyone! 😁😁
I am not sure you are correct. The rules state that you gain 1 strength for every five points of strength MARKED on the trophy card. The encounter number at the bottom doesn’t indicate strength or magic leading me to believe that it is referring to the Humber at the top accompanied by a strength or magic symbol. Thoughts?
@@professorshadow470 @Before You Play First of all I always encourage people to challenge me if for no other reason then for the conversation second I own almost 300 board games so 99% of the time if I suggest that a rule is played a certain way you can take that to the bank. However after reading ur comment, re-reading the rules, re-watching the learn how to play video by Becca Scott’s game the game, and re-watching the video of them playing it with Two of the creators… I’m torn. the rules imply five points of attributes, and the how to play video implies five points of attributes meaning the number at the top, but one of the creators suggests and thus they play the game this way using the numbers at the bottom so that’s the way that my wife and I have always played it is based on the numbers at the bottom because that’s how the creators suggested it.
Have you played Kingdom Hearts? Or Talisman? What are your thoughts?

@@BeforeYouPlay probably KH2, though Birth By Sleep is a close second. No, half of these characters first appeared in games after KH2.

I believe she was also suppose to roll for Ansem's attack after the strength roll
Thanks for a very good review and playthrough! This was so helpful in deciding whether to buy the game or not. Love your positive but chill energy

Awesome video guys! Thanks for helping me understand the game a lot better. Looking forward to trying it out later on today.
Our pleasure! Have a blast!!
My favourite moment was Naveen saying ‘it’s my puppy now!’ 😂
LOL! He's so much sillier off-camera too, I wish we could capture it.
I love kingdom hearts I’m so happy you reviewed this!
This was surprisingly fun.

Ooooooh yeah i wish it gets translated into spanish! It is definitely language-dependent

Before You Play a board gaming one! 🤪🤭
Nooo!!! Friends, no… 😢 u increase magic or strength by discarding trophies based on the number at the bottom of the cards not the top numbers!
Ohhh, it's been a while since we last played it, but we will DEFINITELY make sure to correct that going forward!
