Great news. Keep it up foe sure. Aquajogger saved me. Last year I got injured 2 weeks before boston and I was training for comrades. Boston race was great but comrades was a nightmare with adductor injury. During those 2 months I did every treatment and also had weeks of rest ect.....but it didn't get any better. after comrades I ordered aqua jogger and no joking at all , after 3 sessions in the pool I didn't feel it when walking or getting up out of bed. I took my time and the ran a couple of weeks later with no pain. My coach actually had me do strength work in the pool. High knees, cross country ski, scissors, and butt kicks. You are very lucky you found this now. Amazing. I hope you continue to get stronger stronger
Thanks Jonathan! Pool running has definitely saved Boston for me to this point. What a FIND! Glad to hear it did the same for you.....Appreciate the support!
Bill, I am VERY happy that your ITB injury has healed. I had that years ago and I know how sharply painful and debilitating it is. You were smart to do so much of your running workouts in the pool and get that pounding off your leg. Great work! You will crush it in the NYC Half and the hallowed Boston.
Hi, I’m glad that you reported about your use of deep water running. I have used it for decades for race recovery, injury therapy (2 broken toes 2 months before Boston ‘91), and basically a great cross training activity without the road pounding ( I was running distance decades before the super and max shoes came about). I use hand mitts and wtist weights for more upper body stress. Also shin fins, ankle weights, aqua finned shoes and extra weights in my swim suit for more quad effort. A float-vest and t-shirt too. Enjoy your Boston experience and check out Run Tall With Tim on RUclips as he trains for Boston ‘24 also. Ron
Thanks for your comments, Ron! 👍 What a find it was for me, and it has SAVED my training for Boston. I am sold on it as an integral part of my training going forward, especially as a 60+ year old bloke......I do follow RTWT and know he is struggling through some hip issues. Maybe DWR would be a viable option for him the future.
Hey OMV, on track for Boston!! I am am supposed to be working medical at Boston, so I hope NOT to see you there!!! Anyway congrats on a great build, you got this!
Hey, Lani! Definitely back on track!....Ran a 1:43 less-than-all-out NYC Half as a warmup race on Sunday, and felt very strong at the finish. No ITB issue at all and now entering my final high mileage week!....Raring to go!....I hope to NOT see you as well!
Bill - on Saturday, the day before the NYC Half, is the 263rd St. Patrick's Day Parade on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Consider checking it out. Founded in 1762, it is the largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the world and one of the oldest parades of any kind. Be Irish for a day! The Thursday and Friday before the NYC half is a commercially gimmicky display at Rockefeller Center as a salute to the 25th Anniversary of the TV show SVU Special Victims' Unit, if you happen to like that TV show.
Hi Cathy....I do plan on attending the parade on Saturday. I also have dinner reservations at Carmine's Saturday afternoon with my son who lives in Brooklyn....I arrive on Friday afternoon and will head to the Expo at 4pm. We'll see if I decide to do anything afterwards on Friday evening.
@@oldmanvanrunning Oh cool that you will see your son, and cool that you will see the parade. Carmine's is lovely. I hope you have a great time there with your son.
It doesn't really track distance. It's more the time pool running vs dry land running. Did some research and it stated that time-wise it equates to the same time outside....As for how I track in Garmin, there's no pool running activity, so I just select swimming and it estimates distance by the back and forth movement of my arms.

Hi Cathy! Thanks so much for your support....I'm VERY lucky for sure. Best of luck to you on Sunday as well! You are running, correct?
@@oldmanvanrunning Yes I am - but I am old and super-slow - you will be back at your hotel for a shower and dinner before I finish!
Way to go! Very inspiring to the rest of us
Thanks, Donny!

I have pulled the trigger and got the endorphin pro 4 for the London Marathon.
Best of luck in London! We can compare notes on the Endorphin Pro 4s in a couple of weeks 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Reminder - the NYC Half "Experience" is at Fifth Ave and 37th Street, not at the Javits Center.
Yep! I remember from last year. Thanks for the reminder
@@oldmanvanrunning LOL - I remember your video from the first year you ran the NYC Half .... when you checked out Javits first.
Nice 👍
how can you track the distance when you run in place in the pool?
