Thanks for the heads up and the comparison video. Just for clarification; did you find that the14700K running on *DDR4 @ 4000MT/s + CL18* yields better results than a setup with *DDR5* like the *32GB 6000 CL28 kit* chosen for the AMD 9800X3D, which running at its largely accepted _optimal/ sweet spot_ of speed (*_6000+ CL30/28_*) in 1:1 mode? Serious question as I (along with many others who are or may soon be kitting out a new 9800X3D system). If so, I may need to revisit/retool my ram selection for a current 14700K build running DDR5. I am sincerely hoping that the DDR4 4000 CL18 kit proves superior than it current DDR5 setup at 6600 CL32. Thanks again for the great content.
@@StSNC332 Thanks for checking it out! I sadly do not have data for a 14700k ddr4 4000C18 vs ddr5 6000C28, Based on other games I would say these are close in performance for tarkov since on ddr4 you can get away with gear 1 as you can't do that with ddr5 even at 6000. To beat ddr4 4000C18 you'll probably need atleast ddr5 7000+ if I had to guess for tarkov. For a while 6000C30 has been the sweetspot for the 7800X3D so that was my goal when buying ram, I saw this 6000C28 kit and it looked nice so I went with that, In this video it was in 1:1 mode and fclk was at 2000. I would check out pyurologie here on Ytube, he has many videos regarding RAM in Tarkov.
@@wildgg Thank you for such a speedy response. I did not have a full enough understanding of how this specific game seems to favor higher frequency DDR4 kits for Intel CPUs rather than sub-7000 DDR5 kits. That clears up my questioning of why the ram kits for these CPUs are not matched. I picked up the same kit(DDR5 6000 CL28) to test on both the 7800X3D and 9800X3D, and its good to see that kit doing well(really wish they decided to make a 64GB kit that was not 8000MT/s for users to stay in 1:1 mode). I have some more digging to do in order to find the optimal CPU and Ram kit combo for MSFS 2024 in 4K. Thank you!
Would love to see a benchmark using variable optics, especially on maps like streets, lighthouse and shoreline. Looking different directions etc, just to see what sort of performance these CPUs get when doing what usually tanks my FPS rn
Then go search it up 😅. This video is for those wanna see the FPS gap from these 2 chips. To also see if it's worth spending another 1k from switching from Intel to AMD.
I jumped to AMD from this setup you're running and I bet it doubled my fps and got rid of a lot of the jittery frame in frame stuff - zoomed ADS. However, like anything I've ever experienced with AMD, it has been terrible otherwise. I bet I've reinstalled windows twice, the bloatware AMD pushes is trash, and it's in general extremely finicky compared to any Intel chip I've ever had. There was a lot of new tech tied up with the release of these chips tho. I helped build a clone of my PC for a friend, and that 7800x3d shit the bed without an OC at idle one day. The RMA process was fine, but they never contacted me to inform me the chip was bad. I had to check back in 2 weeks later after hearing nothing to find out they were out of the 78's and it would be some time before they had replacements... After I nudged them about doing something or refunding they upgraded it to a 7950x3d. Which is cool and all, but if I'd stayed Intel I would have had a lot more uptime and a lot less headache. So, make sure you're making the right move. It's expensive, and I'm probably going to jump back here shortly. I've got a used 9600k with a 3060ti that I would rely on 10x over this setup if it wasn't for tarky. There's nothing but misinformation from people who have no real world experience or are being paid to cherry pick and promote. Intel is right back where they need to be in my opinion. I also never see anyone bench tarky in a way that even begins to show what actual gameplay is like... You almost need to watch twitch streams to see anything close to relevant...
I think you could add 10% on top of my intel w ddr4 numbers at best. The streamer axel_tv has a fast ddr5 ram kit and doesn't come close to the 9800x3d numbers. If you go to axel_tv's twitch page to his latest vod, at 01:55:00 you can see his streets performance with ddr5 7800.

You need to shove 1.65v into a hynix a-die, manually set the timings and sub-timings, test it all in karhu for 24h to make sure its stable. + Lock all the cores And possibly only then intel chips can compete in 1% and 0.1% low against 7800x3d in tarkov. In this configuration, Intel can indeed win in some games. But this level of overclocking is something only two people on RUclips mess around with, and neither of them have tested Tarkov 14900k vs 7800x3d. So we cannot know for sure. But we can know for sure that any Intel XMP speed is not good enough to compete with 7800x3d And I'm talking about the old X3D.
