Those must have been some really memorable moments back then. At any rate, if it weren't for disco, we would have never had the rave scene, which is what I was once a part of. Hello Mac,, yes Peter G was an allrounder appearing in various TV shows too..sadly he passed away a couple of years back. I still listen to Hancock on bbc radio4extra!.. cheers
Hi there Mr Reviewer. . .so sad to hear of Peter Gordeno's passing, I hadn't realised . . . he was indeed an allrounder and a picture of happiness himself and a gentleman to boot ! Once I saw him with friends at Earl's Court in west London enjoying themselves at a Jazz Club at the Coleherne public house. Indeed the Coleherne was well patronised in those days, mostly on Sundays, by showbiz personalities, and next door to the popular Troubadour restaurant on Old Brompton Road.
Now I get the picture. In this disco-packed television show, they treated the disco dance contest like "breakdancing before there was breakdancing in the 1980s." Like breakdancing, the disco dance contestants added tricks, flips, floor-work and even splits to the basic pulsating disco dance figures and moves. Karen Lustgarten, a disco expert who penned one of the instructional books on this type of dancing style, would be very blushed at a lot of those "hot flash" disco moves.

@Reee Flex I certainly believe that Steve Dahl had other intentions besides hating disco and that whole fiasco in Comiskey Park was motivated by more than what it was advertised as. It's a shame, the disco scene was about the most inclusive, tolerant, and egalitarian culture at the time only to be destroyed by hatred and bigotry.
