KUTHA or belt are used by the indigenous people (Lepcha or Rong) of Sikkim since decades ago but as time passes by the use of very belt become limited as KUTHA got replaced with modern day leather belt or synthetic belt as it is easily available. where as KUTHA takes time to weave.
It is part of traditional attire called "Dumpra" male dress, which is also known as "Thukra" commonly. One can also use KUTHA for carrying Phuyuk or bhamphok. But as time passes by KUTHA stared loosing its importance as no one wants to take up as profession or hobbies due to which KUTHA is at the verge of diminishing from the World of Lepchas.
